Remote Sensor Networks are bound to assume a crucial part in the cutting edge Internet, which will be described by the Machine-to-Machine worldview, as indicated by which; installed gadgets will effectively trade data, therefore empowering the improvement of creative applications. It will add to declare the idea of Internet of Things, where end to-end security speaks to a key issue. In such setting, it is essential to comprehend which conventions can give the correct level of security without loading the restricted assets of compelled systems. This paper displays an execution examination between two of the most broadly utilized security conventions: IPSec and DTLS. We give the investigation of their effect on the assets of gadgets.

The need to encourage citizens’ adoption of e-participation services has prompted an expanding enthusiasm for the evaluation of e-participation websites. The achievement of e-participation websites depends intensely on how well it is perceived by the users. E-participation is a relatively new approach, so it is important to evaluate it deliberately, in order to comprehend it better, obtain more knowledge about it and distinguish the preferences and advantages it offers, and not to overlook its disadvantages so that we can improve it. Concerning evaluation, many researchers have concentrated on infrastructure and technical issues without giving more attention to user experience as one of the core elements impacting the success or failure of e-participation websites. This paper evaluated e-participation module that located in Malaysia e-government website by utilizing think-aloud method. Think-aloud was being utilized to gauge the perceptions of citizens in their use of e-participation.

This paper described how to use Oracle partitioning to achieve classified storage of data from structured electronic medical records. Because structured electronic medical records stored massive data, the performance, security and stability of database had been paid more and more attentions. In this paper, table with partition in structured electronic medical records system was presented to solve these problems. In addition, testing of comparing the performance of table with and without partition had been taken to prove it was much faster to retrieve partitioned tables with massive data than not partitioned tables.

A high gain, wide common-mode and high swing error amplifier is proposed. It can be applied to a PWM control chip. The error amplifier adopts folded cascode structure with gain boosted. This chip is simulated and fabricated in the CSMC 0.5μm CMOS. The result shows that the error amplifier has the DC gain of 141.11dB, the common-mode input range of 0~3.87v and the output swing of 0.11~4.80v. These meet the requirements of engineering applications and can realize stable system output. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i5.2461

The needing to secure information in restricted environments is very important so that lightweight block cipher algorithm is suitable for these environments. This paper improved DLBCA algorithm by decreasing the cost factor through using the less number of S-boxes. Also, differential and boomerang attacks have been applied in this paper. Finally, all the results have been presented

This research work presents an advanced solution for the problem due to the current setting of Relay (21) when it is set to provide thermal backup protection for the generator during two common system disturbances, namely a system fault and a sudden application of a large system load. These investigations are carried out using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The results of the investigations have shown that the ANFIS has a promising effect when applied for turbo-generators phase backup protection. Such an effect varies according to the type of data used for ANFIS testing and validating. The proposed method in this paper proposes the use of two different sets of inputs to the ANFIS, these inputs are the generator terminal impedance measurements (R and X) and the generator three phase terminal voltages and currents (V and I). The dynamic simulations of a test benchmark have been conducted using the PSCAD/EMTDC software. The results obtained from the ANFIS scheme are promising.

Optimization problem is one such problem commonly encountered in many area of endeavor, obviously due to the need to economize the use of the available resources in many problems. This paper presents a population-based meta-heuristic algorithm for solving optimization problems in a continous space. The algorithm, combines a form of cross-over technique with a position updating formula based on the instantaneous global best position to update each particle position .The algorithm was tested and compared with the standard particle swarm optimization (PSO) on many benchmark functions. The result suggests a better performance of the algorithm over the later in terms of reaching (attaining) the global optimum value (at least for those benchmark functions considered) and the rate of convergence in terms of the number of iterations required reaching the optimum values.

In order to achieve the accurate trajectory tracking of 2 degree-of –freedom robot, a backstepping adaptive fuzzy control scheme based on Lyapunov method, is presented for the SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) robot system. The control strategy consists of the traditional backstepping control and adaptive fuzzy control to cope with the model unknown and parameter disturbances. The system is modeled using the MATLAB-SIMULINK toolbox. The simulation is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. From the simulation results, fast response, strong robustness, good disturbance rejection capability and good angle tracking capability can be obtained. The output tracking error between the actual position output and the desired position output can asymptotically converge to zero. It is also revealed from simulation results that the proposed control strategy is valid and effective for the SCARA robot system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.2634

The minimum cross entropy thresholding (MCET) has been widely applied in image processing. In this paper, a new multilevel MCET algorithm based on the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is proposed. The proposed thresholding algorithm is called ABC-based MCET algorithm. Four different methods including the exhaustive search, the honey bee mating optimization (HBMO), the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) methods are also implemented for comparison with the results of the proposed method. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ABC-based MCET algorithm can efficiently search for multiple thresholds that are very close to the optimal ones selected by using the exhaustive search method. Compared with the other three thresholding methods, the segmentation results using the ABC-based MCET algorithm is the best. It is promising to encourage further research for applying the HBMO algorithm to complex problems of image processing and pattern recognition. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i9.3273

Rainfall can cause severe degradation to the operation of microwave links working with frequencies above 10 GHz. Many studies have investigated this problem, and one of the factors that attract the attention of researcher is rain fade slope which is the rate of change of rain attenuation. The focus of this study is on rain fade slope for terrestrial links and it is based on measurement conducted in Malaysia. This paper investigates the characteristics of the measured rain fade slope distribution for various attenuation levels. Then, the ITU-R model for rain fade slope is compared with the corresponding statistics obtained from the measured data. Significant discrepancies have been observed since the ITU-R prediction model does not fit the measured fade slope distribution for many attenuation levels. It is recommended to modify the expression of the standard deviation in the ITU-R model when implemented in tropical regions.
