Abstract

In this paper, an interval type-2 fuzzy neural network (IT2FNN) control system is proposed to control a two-axis motion system, which is composed of two permanent magnet linear synchronous motors. The IT2FNN control system, which combines the merits of an interval type-2 fuzzy logic system and a neural network, is developed to approximate an unknown dynamic function. Moreover, adaptive learning algorithms that can train the parameters of the IT2FNN online are derived using the Lyapunov stability theorem. Furthermore, a robust compensator is proposed to confront the uncertainties. To relax the requirement for the value of the lumped uncertainty in the robust controller, an adaptive lumped uncertainty estimation law is also investigated. The proposed control algorithms are implemented. From the simulated and experimental results, the contour tracking performance of the two-axis motion control system is significantly improved and the robustness can be obtained as well using the proposed IT2FNN control system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3528

Abstract

Modern image measurement needs to take full advantage of sub-pixel edge information of images. This paper presents a sub-pixel edge detection method of color images based on image dimensionality reduction and the least square method. First of all we get the pixel level edge by Ostu algorithm and then combine gray processing algorithm based on color spatial distance and the least square method for sub-pixel edge location. Experimental results show that the algorithm positioning accuracy can reach 0.13 pixel which provides a basis for the selection of color image sub-pixel edge positioning. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4921

Abstract

Based on the hierarchical characteristics of passengers transfer behavior and the state-dependent queuing model, the D-M/G/C/C queuing network simulation model was put forward for simulating the coordination of subjective passenger behavior and objective distribution environment. Then, the generation method and algorithm of the model is elaborated. In case study, the simulation results are consistent with the actual states of passenger outbound process. Abstract

This paper is a comparisation study between an experimental data and Matlab simulation of output PV characteristic affected by the orientation and the tilt angle of a photovoltaic solar module with inclined plane and by the dimension of the panel. The PV panel was rotated towards the east, south and west and positioned for the angles 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°. In this position, the values of current, voltage and power are measured. In the other side, using the mathematical model to calculate the solar radiation incident on an inclined surface as a function of the tilt angle was developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK model. The optimum angles were determined as positions in which maximum values of solar irradiation and maximum power were registered to characterize the P-V and V-I photovoltaic panel.

Abstract

The use of energy saving glass has become very popular in the modern day building design. This energy saving property is achieved by applying a very thin tin oxide (SnO2) coating on one side of the glass. This coating can provide good thermal insulation to the buildings by blocking infrared rays while being transparent to visible part of the spectrum. Drawbacks of these energy saving windows is that it also attenuates the transmission of useful microwave signals through them. These signals fall within the frequency band of 0.8GHz to 2.2GHz. In order to pass these signals through the coated glass, the use of aperture type frequency selective surface (FSS) has being proposed. In the present work, SnO2 thin film with FSS structure was fabricated. Microwave transmission through SnO2 coated glass with FSS structure was also analyzed using network analyzer. The result of computer simulation was confirmed and consistent with the network analyzer results that showed the improvement of SnO2 coated glass with the FSS structure.

Abstract

This research designed optical sensors using mercury lamp of 160W. These sensors provided voltage and current output. The design of optical sensors used the organic based material,i.e. dye  carotene and phycocyanin. Fabrication of optical sensor in this research used spin coating deposition method. Based on the results of absorbance test, dye carotene had the largest absorption of light of 2.882 (a.u).  Dye phycocyanin at length had the largest absorption of light of 2.787 (a.u). Combination between dye carotene and phycocyanin, for a 3: 1 (Carotene: Phycocyanin) ratio had a waveform like a dye carotene with a peak of 2.587 (au), whereas for 1: 3 had a waveform like phycocyanin with a peak of 2,279 (au). But, sample 1: 1 ratio had decrement the light absorbance rate with peaks of 1.183 (au). At the voltage testing result, combination of phycocyanin: carotene (1:3) had the best linearity. The response time of dye 3:1 (phycocyanin: carotene), 1:1, 1:3, phycocyanin, and carotene were 6.72 s, 2.469s, 1.171s, 2.66s and 7.01s respectively.

Abstract

With the rapid advance of society, especially the development of computer technology, network technology and information technology, there is an increasing demand for systems that can provide secure data storage in a cost-effective manner. In this paper, we propose a prototype file system called EDFS (Encryption and De-duplication File System), which provides both data security and space efficiency in storage systems. We adopt de-duplication technology called CDC (Content-Defined Chunking) to chunk the file and compute its unique fingerprint, lookup different blocks, then store different blocks on server to ensure storage efficiency. Thinking of security, we use convergent encryption to encrypt data blocks, which not only ensure data security but also improve the possibility of de-duplication. Finally, we describe a prototype implementation of EDFS based on FUSE [1] and present an analysis of the potential effectiveness, using real data obtained from a runtime database.

Abstract

Due to limited energy resources, excessive emission of CO2, global warming, increase of mean temperature, serious impacts have resulted on our living environment, and thus, energy saving and carbon reduction have become urgent issues. Planting grass, flowers and trees can absorb and reduce CO2, thus meeting the requirements for energy saving and carbon reduction in environmental protection. At present, most of lawns or gardens in Taiwan are maintained by manual or traditional semiautomatic watering device. Whether the lawn needs to be watered and the amount of water to be sprinkled depends on subjective decision. When the lawn is watered without examining the moisture content of the soil beforehand, it causes waste of time, labor, water and cost. The intelligent wind powered watering system developed by this study used an electromechanical integrated design system to control the humidity probe, and used the electricity generated by natural wind power and pumping device to control the sprinkling action. This system sprinkles water by sensing the soil moisture content, and stops sprinkling automatically when the soil moisture content is enough, thus achieving the purposes of cost and energy saving. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2641

Abstract

Some basic algorithms and theories are discussed for 9-shaker random vibration test control in this paper. A correct algorithm RMS is presented without considering influence of cross spectrum. The algorithm can make the control spectrum of convergence stably and fastly. In order to solve the problem of multiple-point input and output synthetically weighting control,  Finite Markov Chains and Algorithmic is set forth for the first time to form the main control matrix. Abstract

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), secret shared keys must be established with the neighboring nodes in order to achieve secure communication. The challenge issues for secured communication in WSN are the Key management. Location Dependent Key (LDK) management is a suitable scheme when compared to other location based key management schemes because of lesser memory space requirement and lesser number of keys to be stored on each sensor node. However, the LDK is affected by communication interference problem which is solved by the key is distributed based on trust model. The distributed key updates and revocation processes are effectively resist inside attackers. An energy-efficient Key Management with Trust Model (KM-TM) for WSNs is proposed to achieve the secured communication and the nodes are resisting from the attackers. The performances of proposed KM-TM for WSNs are evaluated in terms of trustworthiness of sensor nodes and security breaches more effectively.
