Abstract

Predicting electricity price has now become an important task in power system operation and planning. An hour-ahead forecast provides market participants with the pre-dispatch prices for the next hour. It is beneficial for an active bidding strategy where amount of bids can be reviewed or modified before delivery hours. However, only a few studies have been conducted in the field of hour-ahead forecasting. This is due to most power markets apply two-settlement market structure (day-ahead and real time) or standard market design rather than single-settlement system (real time). Therefore, a hybrid multi-optimization of Least Square Support Vector Machine (LSSVM) and Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) was designed in this study to produce accurate electricity price forecasts with optimized LSSVM parameters and input features. So far, no works has been established on multistage feature and parameter optimization using LSSVM-BFOA for hour-ahead price forecast. The model was examined on the Ontario power market. A huge number of features were selected by five stages of optimization to avoid from missing any important features. The developed LSSVM-BFOA shows higher forecast accuracy with lower complexity than most of the existing models.

Abstract

This paper presents the overall review of torque ripple reduction techniques in brushless DC motors (BLDC) and different multilevel inverter topologies suitable for BLDC motor drives. BLDC motors are widely used for household applications due to its features of high reliability, simple frame, high efficiency, fast dynamic response, compact size and low maintenance, etc.. The switches are electronically commutated based on the information of rotor position detection. The position of the rotor is determined with the help of the sensor or sensorless techniques. Hence it is an electronically commutated motor. Because of this commutation, the ripples are generated in the electromagnetic torque and the power factor of AC mains gets affected. So, in order to improve the performance of these motors the ripple in the electromagnetic torque could be reduced and the power factor of the AC mains should be increased. An enormous review of different torque ripple reduction techniques and different multilevel inverter topologies suitable for torque ripple minimization and power quality improvement with different converter topologies are discussed. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v13i1.6904

Abstract

This paper describes and evaluates the performance of various reinforcement learning algorithms with shortest path algorithms that are widely used for routing packets through the network. Shortest path routing is the simplest policy used for routing the packets along the path having minimum number of hops. In high traffic or high mobility conditions, the shortest path get flooded with huge number of packets and congestions occurs, So such shortest path does not provides the shortest path and increases delay for reaching the packets to the destination. Reinforcement learning algorithms are adaptive algorithms where the path is selected based on the traffic present on the network at real time. Thus they guarantee the least delivery time to reach the packets to the destination. Analysis done on a 6 by 6 irregular grid and sample ad hoc network shows that performance parameters used for judging the network - packet delivery ratio and delay provides optimum results using reinforcement learning algorithms.

Abstract

The face includes a number of facial features which are various in minorities. Firstly, according to the correlations of the face parts shape semantics, multiethnic facial semantic web is proposed. It represents the relationship which belongs to the same minority and the difference of that belongs to the different minorities. Secondly, multiethnic facial semantic web is reduced by the correlations between the parts of the face. The semantic web which is reduced can maintains most available information which is belong to original semantic web, reduces the complexity and indirectly analysis the national facial features. Abstract

Industrial processes include multivariable systems and nonlinearities. These conditions must be effectively controlled to ensure a stable operation. A proportional–integral–derivative controller and other classical control techniques provide simple design tools to designers, but cannot accommodate nonlinearities in industrial processes. In this study, the quadruple-tank process, which is one of the most widely used processes in the chemical industry, was selected as the research object.  To examine this process, a fuzzy logic controller, instead of an exact mathematical model, was proposed to ensure the reliability of the experience. A modification was proposed to facilitate the design process. To check the validity of the proposed controller, it was compared with the conventional proportional–integral controller. Abstract

Aiming at the problem of current analysis and detection techniques against Cisco IOS security are not suitable for IOS integrality attack, this paper focuses on the Cisco IOS security detection techniques based on Control Flow Graph. First, the constructing method of Control Flow Graph is introduced. Then, a method to extract non-executed malicious code is proposed, which improves the effectiveness and accuracy of the analysis of malicious code. Abstract

Development of green energy is the best key for solving environmental problems. The applications of wind force are the most skillful technologies today, which have been as important direction of green energy in highly developed country. Until now the technical development of wind force already achieves the skillful technique of application, and China becomes another leader in this field. Flexibility of modern wind turbine construction becomes more emphasized with the increase in wind turbine size, therefore even bigger vibrational amplitudes. Besides, the supervision blank of the quality of wind power plant by the authority is the reason why manufacture corporation and construction department neglect the quality control. These aspects include: rotor design, improved bearing material and installation, estimation and reduction of frictional effects, improvement in safety and remote monitoring. Abstract

This paper is written to show comparison between the naphthenic mineral oil with namely olive oil and sunflower oil in the context of voltage breakdown as insulating transformer oil. Olive oil is known to have been tested as alternative oil for transformer insulation and sunflower oil is a new oil being tested in this paper. The oils are mixed within certain ratios in order to determine the withstand breakdown voltages. The relationship of the breakdown voltages are also tied with the viscosity of the mixtures, and the mixture of oils are also exposed to ageing test and of tan-delta balancing test. All test follow IEC60156 standard test procedure for liquid insulation test. The mixtures were compared to the existing mineral oils and the findings will be discussed.

Abstract

Wireless communication in present era contains large-scale MIMO network architecture that need to deliver an optimize-QoS to multi-user (MU). The optimize data rate transmission in massive MU-MIMO wireless systems is one of the most difficult task due to the extremely high implementation complexity. The practical wireless system channels generally exhibits the PAPR and frequency selective fading, it is also necessary to have a precoding solution in PAPR for the selected desirable channels. A solution for the designed problem of a noble error-correcting code for OFDM process with a low PAPR, in the case of impulse noise should be considered. In this paper, Adaptive-Data-detection (ADD) algorithm is proposed to obtain lower-complexity data-detection that corresponds to high throughput design and impulse noise removal for large MUI-MIMO wireless systems by the OFDM modulation technique. That contains some steps such as; initialization, pre-processing and equalization steps in order to get no performance loss and to minimalize the recurrent amount at each iterations during operation. In order to use simplify model, here we assume suitably perfect synchronization, large cyclic prefix and perfect-CSI (channel-state-information) which has been developed through the pilot depended training. Simulation results analysis show the proposed method substantial improvement over the existing algorithm in terms of both ‘Error-rate’ minimization and PAPR reduction.

Abstract

This research presented a preliminary study on designing a rehabilitation game for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It has been proved that children with Autism are not interested in attending traditional rehabilitation treatments. Existing researches have shown that games and their usage in the rehabilitation area are growing fast. However, there is less research used to design a rehabilitation game ensuring that the proposed design criteria are based on the preference and requirements of users in order to maximize the engagement rate of the game. In this research, one-month observation sessions were conducted with five autistic participants with no design expertise in order to collect essential design considerations for a rehabilitation game. This paper proposed design considerations, which can be helpful to design a rehabilitation game to promote user engagement by addressing game mechanics and behavioral techniques according to the result of our observations.
