The issue dealt with in this article is to develop a decision-making information system related to the digital environment of the University work. We propose to model the data within the university in order to transform a system of information into a decision-making information system, that is based on the trades databases oriented toward the actors. A decision-making information is a system that allows the decision makers of the university to have relevant information and powerful analytical tools to help them take the right decision at the right time.

A real-time communication adapter named SensorAdapter is designed to communicate between different protocols sensors and data service layer in Sensor Web. The adapter is extended and restructured based on SensorBus, an open source project raised by a German company called 52north. By structuring the receiving module and extending the proxies of sensors according to the communication protocols the sensors use, the adapter can receive sensing information detected by different protocols sensors simultaneously. The receiving module identifies a sensor and finds its corresponding proxy in SensorAdapter by sensor ID (SensorID), and then packages the sensing information to XMPP messages and sends them to XMPPServer by invoking the methods in its proxy. At last, an example of SOS is achieved to verify the effect of the adapter. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1357

A thorough modal characterization, centred on the full vectorial finite element method (FEM) has been used to model and numerically investigate a porous core photonic crystal fibre (PC-PCF), which may potentially be integrated into Terahertz (1012 Hz) compact systems. The proposed fibre consists of a rotated hexagonal core surrounded by a conventional hexagonal cladding. It has been shown that effective material loss (EML), core power fraction and dispersion profile are 0.019 cm-1, 51.7% and 0.5 ± 0.04 ps/THz/cm within 1 THz bandwidth, respectively. Based on simulated results and noncomplex design, it is envisaged that the proposed fibre can be realised for industrial THz applications.

Aquaculture is major occupation for the humans living at coastal areas. The fresh water cultivation of the certain species is prominent in tropical and sub-tropical climates. Here the proposed work shows the relation-ship between the growth of the certain species of marine habitats and the factors affecting their growth with respect to the medium of their living. Advancement of embedded systems in aquaculture leads to new innovations of monitoring and controlling the various parameters. Here the embedded system based application is used, through which the monitoring and controlling of the light is done with the help of LabVIEW based PI controller as well as Fuzzy controller for the effective and healthy growth of the marine habitat. The Designed controllers are energy efficient based controller for controlling the Light Source (LS) via appropriate lighting control levels. The controlling and managing of the system is based on the present light intensity with the help of virtual controller. The proposed work involves the designing and implementation of PI controller and the fuzzy controller for the real time setup to monitor and control the process for optimal and feasible solution.

Fuzzy time series models have been widely used to handle forecasting problems, such as forecasting consumer demand and production volume. It is of greater benefits if we have good forecasting accuracy rates especially in managing inventory in a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) company. This study focuses on multiple products with single production line. The aims of this study are to propose the appropriate the forecasting method for the products, to develop new inventory policy that minimizes the total inventory cost for the company. Simple forecasting methods like trend line, three month moving average (MA (3) and fuzzy time series forecasting are used in this study. The result shows that fuzzy time series forecasting model is suitable to be used in forecasting future demand for all products. The proposed inventory policy is based on the number of cycle per year and the number of production for each product has helped the company to minimize total inventory cost and schedule the production process accordingly. The proposed inventory policy resulted in lower total inventory cost when compared to current practice.

Incipient fault diagnosis of a power transformer is greatly influenced by the condition assessment of its insulation system oil and/or paper insulation. Dissolved gas-in-oil analysis (DGA) is one of the most powerfull techniques for the detection of incipient fault condition within oil-immersed transformers. The transformer data has been analyzed using key gases, Doernenburg, Roger, IEC and Duval triangle techniques. This paper introduce a MATLAB program to help in unification DGA interpretation techniques to investigate the accuracy of these techniques in interpreting the transformer condition and to provide the best suggestion for the type of the fault within the transformer based on fault percentage. It proposes a proper maintenance action based on DGA results which is useful for planning an appropriate maintenance strategy to keep the power transformer in acceptable condition. The evaluation is carried out on DGA data obtained from 352 oil samples has been summarized into 46 samples that have been collected from a 38 different transformers of different rating and different life span.

To deploy the enormous hardware resources available in Multi Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoC) efficiently, rapidly and accurately, methods of Design Space Exploration (DSE) are needed to evaluate the different design alternatives. In this paper, we present a framework that makes fast simulation and performance evaluation of MPSoC possible early in the design flow, thus reducing the time-to-market. In this framework and within the Transaction Level Modeling (TLM) approach, we present a new definition of ISS level by introducing two complementary modeling sublevels ISST and ISSPT. This later, that we illustrate an arbiter modeling approach that allows a high performance MPSoC communication. A round-robin method is chosen because it is simple, minimizes the communication latency and has an accepted speed-up. Two applications are tested and used to validate our platform: Game of life and JPEG Encoder. The performance of the proposed approach has been analyzed in our platform MPSoC based on multi-MicroBlaze. Simulation results show with ISSPT sublevels gives a high simulation speedup factor of up to 32 with a negligible performance estimation error margin. Energy consumption phenomenon has always been noticed in sink-based wireless sensor networks. This paper explored an energy efficient routing protocol with a mobile sink based on the shortest path data transmission mode. According to the position of the sink node and the common nodes' ID in the network, we can calculate the coordinate value of each node in the wireless sensor network. By comparing the coordinate values to choose the shortest path to forward the data was our key method in this paper. Simulation results showed that this method can prolong the lifetime of the network, and improve the energy utilization ratio of the nodes. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i8.1640

Currently, the Quran is recited by so many reciters with different ways and voices. Some people like to listen to this reciter and others like to listen to other reciters. Sometimes we hear a very nice recitation of al-Quran and want to know who the reciter is. Therefore, this paper is about the development of Quran reciter recognition and identification system based on Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) feature extraction and artificial neural network (ANN). From every speech, characteristics from the utterances will be extracted through neural network model. In this paper a database of five Quran reciters is created and used in training and testing. The feature vector will be fed into Neural Network back propagation learning algorithm for training and identification processes of different speakers. Consequently, 91.2% of the successful match between targets and input occurred with certain number of hidden layers which shows how efficient are Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) feature extraction and artificial neural network (ANN) in identifying the reciter voice perfectly.

Differential evolution (DE) is a highly effective evolutionary algorithm. However, the performance of DE depends on strategies and control parameters. The combination of many strategies helps balance the exploitation and exploration of DE. In this study, a multi-population based on k-means clustering is proposed to realize an ensemble of multiple strategies, thereby resulting in a new DE variant, namely KSDE, where similar individuals in the population implement the same mutation strategies, and dissimilar subpopulations migrate information through the soft island model (SIM). Firstly, the population is virtually divided into k subpopulations by the k-means clustering algorithm. Secondly, the individual specific mutation scheme is selected from a strategy pool by random method. Finally, the migration of subpopulation information is done using soft island model. The performance of the KSDE algorithm is evaluated on 13 benchmark problems. The experiments show that KSDE algorithm improves the performance of the DE algorithm.
