Abstract

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels which has got a huge success. To explore the reasons of so successful of the novel behind, we analyzed the characters network in Harry Potter from the perspective of complex networks. Studies show that the characters network in Harry Potter has got the small-world effect and scale-free feature. It is a typical complex network. The success of novel Harry Potter is precisely due to the complex properties of it, and this may give some guidance for novel writers when preparing their works.

Abstract

This paper introduces a scheme which implements the programmable logic controllers’ (PLCs) function based on FPGA. This scheme follows the IEC61131-3 standard, selects Ladder Diagram (LD) to write the PLC programs and selects VHDL as target language. Based on VS2005 platform, this scheme implements the construction of Ladder Diagram, compilation, simulation and other functions. This paper focuses on researching the construction method of Ladder Diagram, converting Ladder Diagram into Boolean equation and generating VHDL program by Boolean equivalence. The construction method of Ladder Diagram based on parallel-series hierarchical nested list and the implementing method of Boolean equivalence based on double-layer lists are proposed. Abstract

IoT create an ecosystem that can be useful to the world with its various services. That make the security of IoT is more important. This paper presents a proposed technique to secure data transaction from IoT device to other node using cryptography technique. AES cryptography and IoT device model ESP8266 is used as a client to send data to a server via HTTP protocol. Security performance matrices used eavesdropping attack with Wireshark sniffing and brute-force attack. will be simulated to the proposed method in order to ensure if there is any possibility it can be cracked using those attacks and to evaluate the performance of ESP8266, several experiments were be conducted. Result gather from this experiment was evaluated based on processing time to see the effectiveness of the platform compare to different data size used while adapting this technique.

Abstract

AbstractWith relative theory about technology of datamining and recommender model of user’s interest, this paper presents the methodof MWFP-TREE based on the combination between recommender model idea of user’sweight and the minimum weighted FP-TREE method. Compared to traditional method,this method does not only carry out dimension reduction of raw data to improvethe efficiency of a constructing tree but it also performs association rulemining and improves mining effect. This method is applied to mathematics  teaching evaluation in one university and it findsout different evaluations from different students respectively consideringstudents’ information and teachers’ information while it is not similar totraditional thought which is only to perform mining direction based onteachers’ information. Abstract

The problem of finding out the connection between the flight speed of a metal object and the length of electromagnetic radiation that accompanies its movement has been solved. The calculations are based on the application of Lienar-Vihert's potential theory. Based on the assumption of the dipole mechanism of radiation, the intensity of electromagnetic radiation was calculated and its distribution by coordinates was found.

Abstract

In order to evaluate the efficiency of the guarantee agencies and achieve the purpose of identifying there competitive advantages, through the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of previous DEA-AHP methods, this paper puts forward a Super-efficiency DEA-AHP model, which can not only completely and more accurately rank the guarantee agencies but also comprehensively reflect the weights of the importance of each index which influence the efficiency of the guarantee agencies. Abstract

In this paper, the Dual band modified split square resonator (MSSR) metamaterial (MM) structure was designed and numerically investigated at millimetre wave (mm-Wave) frequency range. The proposed structure operated at two resonance frequencies 28 GHz and 32.54 GHz. The dual-band behaviour of the proposed structure because of the self and mutual coupling between two metallic squares of the structure. Furthermore, The MSRR structure performed very well at both resonance frequencies by providing high transmission coefficient, S21, with a loss of -0.3 dB (0.97 linear scale) at lower resonance frequency 28 GHz and -0.18 dB (0.98 linear scale) at upper resonance frequency 32.54 GHz. In this regard, the numerical simulation was conducted to optimize the MSSR structure in such a way that the ratio of effective inductance-to-capacitance (L/C) was raised. As a result, the inherent MM losses were reduced. The robust retrieval algorithm was utilized to reconstruct the refractive index, effective permittivity, and effective permeability and to verify the left-hand property of the proposed structure. The simulation results showed that the MSSR unit cell introduces two regions of the negative refractive index below the lower resonance frequency, 28 GHz and above the upper resonance frequency, 32.54 GHz.

Abstract

In recent years, considerable attention has been given to find the compact and low cost power converter topology for Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive to meet the emerging applications such as plotters, fans, pumps, screw rotary compressor drives, high speed application drives above 30,000 RPM. This paper is concerned with such as attempt to formulate a new compact power converter for SRM drive. The proposed power converter has reduced number of power electronic components which makes the converter compact and also reduce the switching losses. The power factor plays a vital issue in the usage of power electronic converters. The power boost converter and PI controller. A Simulink system is developed for 3Φ SRM by using MATLAB software. The proposed converter performance is compared with the classical converter and analysis results are presented.

Abstract

Automated Guiding Vehicle (AGV) is widely used in factories, hospitals, warehouses, and offices. It can also be controlled remotely to operate under hazardous environments that are unsuitable for human presence. On the other hand, medical advancement and the decrease of birth rate are pushing the world into population aging. For elderly or the physically/mentally-challenged patient, some of the common foot problem includes diabetic foot, myotenositis, having calluses in the soles of the foot, foot deformities, etc. This research is aimed at the design and the implementation of an automated guiding vehicle, which is controlled by PC. Once the input is received from optical sensors, it will pass the information to chip, which will process the information and output the decision to stepping motor to finish the process. The research includes understanding the mechanical design, optical sensor input, defining the control units, and initiating stepping motor. Using BASIC programming, the program is burned onto a chip, which works as the central of the AGV. The result can be applied in barrier-free facilities. Abstract

This work is a review on previous research and studies on the solar disturbance activities and faults that occur on the electric power transmission line. Research has shown that low latitude regions could also be affected by solar disturbance events. The effects of these events on earth are considerable and may cause electric power transmission failure. Geomagnetically induced current is one of the ground impacts to the transmission line, which may cause fault or disturbance and consequently power system failure. Solar disturbance data from magnetometers and electric power transmission line fault data from a digital fault recorder are reviewed in this work. These data would be valuable in determining the characteristics and effects of solar disturbances on Malaysia’s electric power transmission lines.
