Abstract

Crowdsourcing has been known as developing industry that able to be used as a platform to get more income and provide opportunity for busineses to conduct their operation in more innovative ways.  Crowdsourcing has become an effective way for the companies to offer work opportunity for crowd outside organization to apply their abilities and skills, and receive more money.  Under the Malaysian government initiatives called Digital economy, various crowdsourcing efforts and programs have been introduced to catch up with the global development.   The ecosystem of crowdsourcing which consists of job provider, platform, micro worker and industry is considered still in a formative stage.  Thus, the integration of all these components is not fully discovered and understood yet which, can cause confusion among the crowdsourcing industry players.   In order to understand the complex integration of multi perspective micro sourcing ecosystem, the components and its significance priority level need to be identified. In this study, the components that involved in crowdsourcing ecosystem were identified and ranked using analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method. The results can be later used by crowdsourcing industry players to plan more proper crowd sourcing strategic development  in Malaysia.

Abstract

AVS video decoder consumes a huge number of computation, so real-time implementation of an AVS decoder has some challenging on x86 computing platform. This article describes a xAVS open source project to solve this problem. First of all, the reason for the low efficiency of the code of the existing AVS video decoder open source reference software RM52J_r1 is analyzed according to the description of AVS key technologies and decoding principles in the official documentation. Then according to the main problems of the reference software, re-design the optimized xAVS decoder architecture, and real-time property significantly improved with C code. Finally, use the x86 platform multimedia instruction sets to further optimize xAVS semantic processor. The experimental results show that, under the precondition of ensuring the quality of decoding, the decoding speed of the xAVS decoder for D1 has increased more than 14 times, to fully meet the needs of real-time decoding. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5473

Abstract

This paper work focused on the study of the nonlinear computed torque control of a quadrotor helicopter. In order to model the dynamic of the vehicles, kinematics and dynamics modeling of the X4 is presented. Euler angles and parameters are used in the formulation of this model and the technique of Computed Torque control is introduced. In the second part of the paper, we develop a methodology of control that allows the quadrotor to accomplish a prospecting mission of an environment, as the follow-up of a trajectory by the simulation. Results show that Computed Torque control method is suitable for X4.

Abstract

Decimal floating Point adder is one of the most frequent operations used by many financial, business and user-oriented applications but current implementations in FPGAs are very inefficient in terms of both area and latency when compared to binary floating point adder. This paper has shown an efficient implementation of a new parallel decimal floating point module on a reconfigurable platform, which is both area as well as performance optimal. The decimal floating-point Adder was further pipelined into five stages to increase the maximum frequency of operation. The synthesis results for a Stratix IV device indicate that our implementations have 25.1% reduction of the latency and 1.1% reduction of area compared to an existing alter-core adder design, presenting area and delay figures close to those of optimal binary adder trees. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i10.3406

Abstract

Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a group of mobile or wireless nodes that are placed randomly and dynamically that causes the continual change between nodes. A mobility model attempts to mimic the movement of real mobile nodes that change the speed and direction with time. The mobility model that accurately represents the characteristics of the mobile nodes in an ad hoc network is the key to examine whether a given protocol. The aim of this paper is to compare the performance of four different mobility models (i.e. Random Waypoint, Random Direction, Random walk, and Steady-State Random Waypoint) in MANET. These models were configured with Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol under three QoS (Quality of Service) metrics such as the Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Throughput, End-to-End delay. The simulation results show the effectiveness of Steady-State Random Waypoint Mobility Models and encourage further investigations to extend it in order to guarantee other QoS requirements.

Abstract

In this research, we present a novel dynamic background modeling method based on reconstructed 3D shapes, which can solve background modeling problems of multi-camera in real-time. While 3D shape reconstruction is a popular technology widely used for detecting, tracking or identifying various objects, little effort has been made in applying this useful method to background subtraction. In this work we propose an approach to using 3D shape reconstruction technology to develop a novel decision making mechanism for background image updating. This 3D shape reconstruction based background subtraction method is adaptive to changes in illumination, capable of handling sudden illumination changes as well as complex dynamic scenes efficiently. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2387

Abstract

Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is widely used in the fields of decision level information fusion. In order to overcome the problem of the counter-intuitive results encountered when using Dempster’s combination rule to combine the evidences which exist high conflict, a modified sequential weighted evidence combination is proposed. Firstly, the credibility of each evidence can obtained based on K-L distance, besides, the uncertainty of each evidence can obtained based on information entropy. Simultaneously, using the uncertainty of each evidence to improve the credibility of each evidence, then the weights of the bodies of evidence are obtained based on the improved credibility of each evidence, the weights generated are used to modify the bodies of evidence including the previous combination result, the previous evidence and the new arriving body of evidence at current step. Finally, according to the Dempster’s combination rule, the weighted average combination results can be obtained. In the experimental part, the improved method is used to fuse video multiple features in target tracking system and compared the results with the standard D-S theory. The simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3364

Abstract

This paper presents the ability of the fuzzy logic-based stabilizer used to generate the supplementary voltage control signal of the SVC to improve the damping of the inter-area mode oscillation in the power system. The base system is symmetrical, consisting of two identical areas connected by a relatively weak tie line. The SVC is chosen to be installed at the tie line midpoint. The active power of the local line will be used as an input signal for the stabilizer. The additional signal is calculated using fuzzy membership function to determine the quantity of reactive power supplied absorbed by SVC. The system oscillation is indicated by a 3-phase-to-ground short circuit occurring at 0.2s of the simulation and subsequently clearing after 100ms. Simulation with the sample power system shows that when subjected to a disturbance, fuzzy logic-based SVC stabilizer provides good damping in inter-area mode oscillation for the system. The effectiveness of the stabilizer applied with and without PSS will also be investigated.

Abstract

We report the implementation and operation of GTI with high-reflectivity negative-dispersion dielectric mirrors for use in tunable ultrafast laser systems. The mirror structure is divided into two distinct regions: an underlying high-reflectivity dielectric quarter-wavelength stack and an overlying negative-dispersion section consisting of only a few layers and forming simple multiple Gires–Tournois interferometers. The example that we present was designed two structures with different spacers for operation from 670-860 nmand680-840nm has a near-constant group-delay dispersion of ±3000fs2and a peak reflectivity greater than 98%. We can usingand application of these mirrors in a mode-locked Ti: Sapphire laser.

Abstract

Control system is a pattern for describing microeconomic performance, so it can provide theory basis for policy-making to make economic performance well and continuously by analyzing and solving the model of economic control system. After analyzing the characteristics of Bat Algorithm (BA), the method to adjust each step of BA is proposed. In the method, each bat took advantage of the optimal location that it had found to guide the direction of search. The result of the case study showed that the proposed algorithm was efficient, then the proposed algorithm was used to solve the grey economic dynamic system, and the results further showed that the method was valid for solving economic control problems. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i9.3149
