Abstract

In this paper, an eigenvalue assignment based Particle Swarm Optimization and Participation Factor for Optimal tuning and placement of power system stabilizers is proposed. The proposed approach presents a two-step methodology to find optimal location and parameters of PSS. The Participation Factor method is computed using the modal analysis toolbox from DIgSILENT, and used to determine the power system stabilizers optimal location. A Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is written in MATLAB to search the power system stabilizers optimal parameters. Two eigenvalue-based objective functions to ensure a maximum damping of the inter-area modes as well as of the local modes by assigning them in a robust stability area are considered. The performance of the proposed approach is tested and examined on the four-machine two-area power system. Linear modal analysis and non-linear time domain simulations show the robustness of the proposed approach.

Abstract

Grid connected photovoltaic (PV) power systems is today’s breakthrough for renewable energy source in electricity generation Grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power systems have the advantage of more effective utilization for highest renewable source of electricity generation and tendency to continual growth in the next years. The output performance grid connected photovoltaic (PV) power systems is influenced by the impact of cell temperature or ambient temperature and solar irradiance of the solar module. This paper highlights the effect of output energy of solar module by implementing different types of solar module technology and selecting the highest energy output of the module technology for modelling and simulating the design of grid connected photovoltaic (PV) power system using Matlab/Simulink.

Abstract

A transformer less bidirectional inverter fed grid-connected system has implemented and function as both forward and reverse power flow by battery and photovoltaic system. In dc distributed system has utilized the renewable energy such as PV, wind, battery and fuel system. In conventional method the dc bus regulation by using the one line cycle regulation method and one-sixth line cycle regulation. In proposed method utilize both converter and inverter operates bidirectional direction and utilize both solar and PV source. The solar energy had less cost, pollution less energy generation and fed into the bidirectional converter. The PI-based control method is used to operate both forward and reverse direction. The model predictive control method is used in the bidirectional inverter for control the current and voltage of the grid-connected system. The power flow control in the distribution system by the constant power loads such as dc/dc converter because conduct the negative dynamic impedance. The three-phase bidirectional inverter is designed and implemented in MATLAB/Simulink environment.

Abstract

In this paper power energy estimated based on wind speed records in three different areas in Palestine Nablus, Ramallah and Gaza. The main aims of this study to calculate the total amount of power and energy that can produce and to encourage investment in renewable energy in Palestine. Available meteorological data from local weather stations are used to study the wind energy potential in the West Bank (WB) for two sites and Gaza Strip (GS) for one site. The daily average wind speed data for three sites in Palestine analyzed, and fitted to the Weibull probability distribution function. The parameters of Weibull have been calculated by author using Graphical method. This study shed lights on the relationship between the wind energy and power versus the mean wind speed (MWS). The total gathered energy per unit area during 2006 in WB from Nablus site is 927.1 kwhr/m2, whereas 2008.0141 kwhr/m2 from Ramallah site.This significant study to assess the wind energy production in Palestine to encourage investment in renewable energy sectors.

Abstract

Ranking algorithms based on link structure of the network are well-known methods in web search engines to improve the quality of the searches. The most famous ones are PageRank and HITS. PageRank uses probability of random surfers to visit a page as the score of that page, and HITS instead of produces one score, proposes using two scores, authority and hub scores, where the authority scores describe the degree of popularity of pages and hub scores describe the quality of hyperlinks on pages. In this paper, we show the differences between WWW network and trading network, and use these differences to create a ranking algorithm for trading networks. We test our proposed method with international trading data from United Nations. The similarity measures between vectors of proposed algorithm and vector of standard measure give promising results.

Abstract

This project discusses on the development of horizontal single axis solar tracker using Arduino UNO which is cheaper, less complex and can still achieved the required efficiency. For the development of horizontal single axis solar tracking system, five light dependent resistors (LDR) has been used for sunlight detection and to capture the maximum light intensity. A servo motor is used to rotate the solar panel to the maximum light source sensing by the light dependent resistor (LDR) in order to increase the efficiency of the solar panel and generate the maximum energy. The efficiency of the system has been tested and compared with the static solar panel on several time intervals. A small prototype of horizontal single axis solar tracking system will be constructed to implement the design methodology presented here. As a result of solar tracking system, solar panel will generate more power, voltage, current value and higher efficiency.

Abstract

When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore, they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement. Besides that, the arrangement of question papers and answer sheets process for a high number of students takes a long time. In this paper, the sheet exam has been proposed to change into an electric exam (E-exam). This system depended on the client-server framework to convert the traditional exam environment into an electronic exam, providing multiple and different questions at the same time. In additions, kept the grades of students and providing them automatically. In this paper, Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL server have been proposed to develop the electronic exam. The questionnaire is made by distributed it among 30 students, and after the data analysis, the results have been collected have been represented a response rate of 100%. It is recommended that, to take electronic exams and e-learning for students periodically. To improve their performance through continuous training on computerized exams and to increase the student’s efficiency in this type of learning.

Abstract

In this paper, two lighting retrofit scheme is simulated to evaluate the amount of saving that the commercial building owner would benefits. Simple payback period and net present value are the method used to qualify the retrofit scheme to be profitable or otherwise. The analysis include the effect of electricity price, energy saving percentage, technology price and efficacy future values towards the economic return. The retrofit scheme presented only covers for the building that already has existing lighting equipment and comply towards the standard set by the international technical society. All variables and assumption are based on latest report by the world governing bodies and regulation.

Abstract

This paper insight about reasons of disappointment in distribution transformers. It has been suggested that crawl may be a noteworthy purpose behind such disappointments. The impact of anxiety, temperature, and material on unfaltering state killjoy rate on aluminum and copper wires (utilized as a part of 25 KVA distribution transformers) have been introduced. Proposed study affirms that the disappointment rate of aluminum wound DTs is higher than the disappointment rate of copper injury DTs in force insufficient ranges and poor conveyance systems. The higher disappointment rate of aluminum wound DTs has been credited to the lifted enduring state wet blanket rate of the aluminum wire than copper wire.

Abstract

In the present study, hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanorod structure were grown on fluorine doped tin oxide coated glass substrate via sonicated immersion approach with variation of annealing temperature (350˚C – 600˚C) in one-hour treatment. The impact of varying the temperature of annealing treatment on crystalline phase, structure morphology, optical properties and humidity sensing performance of hematite were examined. X-ray diffraction pattern disclosed a rhombohedral structure with α-phase diffraction peaks. The surface morphology images taken from field emission scanning electron microscopy revealed that the hematite nanorod arrays were grown uniformly in all samples and the average diameters of nanorods were measured in the ranges between 55 and 80 nm. Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy measurement spectra show that all samples exhibited good optical properties. The hematite humidity sensor sample annealed at 400°C has demonstrated the highest sensitivity response (S=177.78) to humidity range between 40%RH to 90%RH.
