Abstract

The Hebrews were written to strengthen their faith in Christ by carefully explaining the superiority and firmness of God's revelation and redemption in Jesus Christ. He showed that the provision of redemption under the old covenant had been fulfilled and was no longer used because Jesus had come and established a new covenant by His death-working peace. The author also calls on all believers to maintain recognition of Christ so that at the end, the author then advises him to move forward toward spiritual maturity, and to not return to life under penalty by renouncing trust in Jesus Christ. In this study of Hebrews 11: 1-3, the writer provides understanding and understanding, as well as giving advice that faith is the basis for every believer, as well as a certain hope for Jesus Christ. As a result of the church's lack of understanding of the meaning of faith, many apostate congregations who abandoned their faith, beliefs, and perseverance before God disappeared. besides that most of the congregation have experienced the decline of faith. Therefore believers need to understand the text of God's Word from Hebrews 11: 1-3 in every step of life.

Abstract

Give thanks is an attitude of the human heart. Giving thanks shows an attitude that is based on a believer's faith in God. Even though this is a simple command, reality shows many believers' failure to give thanks. The Apostle Paul also saw this reality, therefore through 1 Thessalonians, the apostle Paul wanted to give teachings and appeals so that the believers in Thessalonica could show an attitude of life to give thanks. But there are different things that Paul taught with the concept of thanksgiving of unbelievers. Therefore, to understand these differences, it is very important to study thanksgiving from a biblical perspective, in this article specifically doing the exegetical study of the expression "giving thanks in all things" according to 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Abstract

Self-mastery is very important for every servant of God, so that a servant of God understands and understands the importance of self-control, because then God's servants will experience changes in life through the process. Self-mastery in question is the ability to hold, curb, and keep oneself from sin so as not to be enslaved by sin. The definition of self-control is the ability to control thoughts, bad habits that are not according to God's will. The Bible records self-control in Galatians 5: 22-23, Proverbs 16:32. Controlling yourself means more than conquerors, and God says in His Word that the servant is the more victorious servant. Based on the presentation of a servant of God must be able to control themselves so as not to be enslaved by sin, so that a servant is called a winner in a competition in service. Therefore it is very important to provide insight into self-control, one of the basic Scriptures that discusses is 2 Timothy 4: 1-8.
