Abstract

Introduction: Complaints that often occur are dysmenorrhea that is not harmful but can interfere with comfort and activity. An adolescent who know the proper management of dysmenorrhea can overcome it and have good pain management. The study aimed to analyze pain self-management in adolescents with dysmenorrhoea. Methods: This study used correlational research with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were adolescent at Public Junior High School IV Lamongan. The samples were 129 respondents selected by simple random sampling. The inclusion criteria were an adolescent who analyzes dysmenorrhea. The exclusion criteria for this study were not in place due to illness or alpha.  Data was collected using questionnaire self-efficacy, decision making, information support, and pain self-management that had been tested for validity and reliability—test statistics using the Spearman's rho test. Results: The results of the study found a correlation between self-efficacy with pain self-management (p = 0.004; r = 0.24), decision making with pain self-management (p = 0.003; r = 0.26), information support with pain self-management (p = 0.003; r = 0.26).Conclusion: Self-efficacy is a mediator to improve pain self-management optimally to improve quality of life. There are three factors in decision making for pain management in adolescents who experience dysmenorrhea is personal, social, and psychological. Adolescents who have initiatives in finding information about dysmenorrhea have good pain management. It is expected that parents, schools, and health workers provide knowledge to an adolescent who experiences dysmenorrhea to be able to do pain management.

Abstract

Introduction: Hospitalized preschoolers have higher anxiety and fear reactions, especially given intravenous injections that are included in invasive procedures The purpose of this study is to determine the cooperative level of preschool children (4-6 years) during intravenous injection procedure. Methods: The research design used was explanative. The samples numbered 34 children aged 4-6 years who underwent treatment in Dahlia room Mgr Gabriel Manek, SVD Hospital selected by purposive sampling with the variables used namely the cooperative level of preschool children during the intravenous injection procedure. Data was collected using cooperative level observation sheets. Results: The cooperative level of preschool children during the intravenous injection procedure was in the uncooperative category of 31 children (91.1%) while the cooperative category was 3 children (8.9%).Conclusion: The cooperative level of preschool children during the intravenous injection procedure tends to be uncooperative. This is influenced by the age and development of the child and the existence of external support from parents and chaperones during the intravenous procedure. Further research can use this study as data in determining appropriate interventions to improve the cooperative attitude of preschool-aged children during intravenous injection procedures.

Abstract

Introduction: The management of chemotherapy in breast cancer requires a long time and cause miscellaneous of side effects. High resilience is needed by breast cancer patients to undergo chemotherapy regularly. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the resilience of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: This study design was cross-sectional. From the total population of 122 breast cancer patients, a sample of 100 participants was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variables were hardiness, education level, economic status, side effects of chemotherapy, family support, and anxiety. The dependent variable was resilience. The instruments of this study were Hardiness questionnaire, Chemothraphy-Symptom Assessment Scale (C-SAS), Family Support questionnaire, Zung-Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSRAS), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). The Spearmen’s Rho was used for statistical analysis. Results: Hardiness (p=0.000; r=0.310), Education Level (p=0.000; r=0.416), Economic Status (p=0.000; r=0.369), Side Effects of Chemotherapy (p=0.004; r=-0.283) and Family Support (p=0.000; r=0.579) have relation with the resilience. Anxiety has no relation with the resilience (p=0.23; r=0.121).Conclusion: The side effects management of chemotherapy and family support were necessary to increase the resilience of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. It is highly recommended to the next researchers to do some studies about factors associated with the side effects of chemotherapy and nursing intervention, which can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy itself.

Abstract

Introduction: Hormonal injection contraception is the most widely used method of contraception in Indonesia. In long-term use, one of the side effects of injection contraception is changes in lipid metabolism in the body caused by the accumulation of hormones in the body. Two types of injectional contraception are widely used in Indonesia, namely combined injection and DMPA injection; different hormonal content has various side effects on the lipid profile. This study aimed to compare the total cholesterol level between acceptors of DMPA injection and combined injection. Methods: This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size is 60 respondents, including 30 DMPA injection acceptors and 30 combination injection acceptors. The sampling method uses a purposive sampling technique The independent variable in this study was the total cholesterol level of the acceptor, and the dependent variable was the acceptor of DMPA injection and the combination injection acceptor. Analysis of research data used the Independent T-test with α=0.05.Results: The results of the bivariate analysis found significant differences in total cholesterol levels in the DMPA injection contraception acceptor and combination injection with p= 0.037. It was found that overall cholesterol levels of DMPA injection acceptors were higher. Conclusion: There is a difference in total cholesterol levels in the DMPA injection contraception acceptor with a combination injection contraception acceptor.
