Abstract

Introduction: The influence of parenting, the scope and quality of health services, the environment, and food are the leading causes of stunting. This study aims to analyze the correlation between personal reference and health facilities with parenting in stunting prevention in Madura East Java. Methods: The design of this study was a cross-sectional study. The population in this study were mothers who had children aged 6-24 months in Madura East Java with 149 mothers and obtained a sample of 109 mothers selected using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was the personal reference and health facilities. At the same time, the dependent variable was parenting in stunting prevention. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The questionnaire has been a validity and reliability test. This study was analyzed using the Spearman rho test with a significance level α <0.05.Results: Personal reference have a correlation in parenting in stunting prevention with significance (p=0.017; r=0.228) Health care facilities have a correlation in parenting in stunting prevention with significance (p=0.020; r=0.222)Conclusion: Personal reference and health facilities have a significant role in parenting in stunting prevention. Health workers are expected to be able to provide interventions that are compatible with stunting prevention factors to reduce the incidence of stunting in Indonesia. The more complete health facilities to provide information about pediatric health, the more capable the mother to provide prevention in stunting on children.

Abstract

Introduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by infrequent or absent ovulation as well as elevated levels of androgens and insulin (hyperinsulinaemia). The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of endocrine treatment in improving reproductive and metabolic outcomes in women with PCOS.Methods: We searched the following databases from inception to Maret 2020: PubMed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, Scopus and CINAHL. We investigated at metformin, clomiphene citrate, metformin plus clomiphene citrate, D-chiro-inositol, statins, and resveratrol as treatments. We compared them to each other, as well as to a placebo or no therapy. The quality of the evidence ranged from extremely low to moderate. The risks of bias (poor reporting of technique and inadequate outcome data), imprecision, and inconsistency were the limitations. Results: Although the evidence quality was low, our latest evaluation indicated that metformin alone may be superior to placebo for live birth. Data for live birth were equivocal when metformin was compared to clomiphene citrate, and our conclusions were hampered by a paucity of evidence. Body mass index (BMI) varies in the results, emphasizing the need of stratifying data by BMI.Conclusion: Clinical pregnancy and ovulation improvements demonstrate that clomiphene citrate is still preferred to metformin for ovulation induction in obese women with PCOS.

Abstract

Introduction:The use of Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) in postpartum women is still low even though the government recommends an effective method to decrease population growth. Attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control are background factors that shape people's intentions in displaying behavior. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control with postpartum women's intentions using LARC.Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The populations were postpartum women ≤ 42 days in Tambaksari Sub-District Surabaya. The inclusion criteria were postpartum women who had not become KB acceptors and the exclusion criteria for postpartum women with widow status.  The samples were 84 people that met using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected with a questionnaire consisting of demographic data, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intentionand analyzed using spearmen's rho test with a significance level of 0.05.Results: The result showed that attitude (p=0.000 r=0.604) , subjective norm (p=0.000 r=0.610), and perceived behavioral control (p=0.000 r=0.608) had significant correlation with intentions. Conclusion: The positive attitude, good subjective norm support, and robust perceived behavioral control give high intentions using LARC in postpartum women. The recommendations for future researchers are expected to conduct a comparative study of the behavior of choosing LARC and Non-LARC in postpartum women.

Abstract

Introduction: Low birth weight (LBW)  is one of the main risk factors for neonatal morbidity and mortality. Anemia in developing countries is still quite high compared to developed countries. Low hemoglobin levels in pregnancy can affect the birth of low birth weight babies. Methods: This study used a systematic review method. Studies published between 2015 and 2019. Search for articles was reviewed systematically through Scopus, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and PubMed databases. The final results obtained 10 articles following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Calculation result using Meta-Analysis with help of Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software. Results: Compare the odds ratio and confidence interval of hemoglobin levels compared to low birth weight events. The results obtained OR 1.449 (95% CI 0.964 – 2.177) and p-Value 0.074 so that there is no relationship of hemoglobin levels in pregnant women ≤ 11gr / dL with the incidence of low birth weight babies. In the heterogeneity test results, I-Squared results obtained by 79.191%, which indicates the value of I-squared heterogeneity> 50% so that the sample used is heterogeneous. Maternal age less than 20 years or more than 35 years, number of parity, pregnancy spacing, and number of problems in the assessment of pregnancy and previous labor. Conclusion: There is no correlation between low maternal hemoglobin levels with the incidence of low birth weight because there are other factors that can affect outcomes such as different respondent characteristics, number of samples, different research countries, different trimester of pregnancy and other factors that can cause research bias.
