Abstract

This study aims to determine students' mathematical literacy skills through problem-based learning using a clinometer. This research method is quasi-experimental with the research design used is one group pretest-posttest analysis on the initial test obtained results which indicate that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous, this means that the two classes are in the same condition or circumstances, namely the ability mathematical literacy so that it can be treated. The final test is also normally distributed and homogeneous, but there is an average difference from the aspect of mathematical literacy skills taught using problem-based learning and conventional learning models. Then the analysis was carried out through the one-way ANOVA hypothesis test, it was obtained that there were significant differences in the two classes. Then proceed with the Scheffe test to see the differences between the two classes, it turns out that there are differences in students' mathematical literacy abilities in the experimental class and the control class. This means that the mathematical literacy ability of the problem-based learning model using a clinometer is higher than the mathematical literacy ability of students using conventional learning models.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of understanding concepts in the learning process whose peak can anticipate the occurrence of misconceptions in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to link mathematics learning with the psychological condition of students. Gestalt psychology says that learning is not just accumulating knowledge, but learning is a process of interaction between the individual and his environment. The research method uses a literature study by raising issues from Gestalt Psychology about meaning, understanding, and insight. The results of this study indicate that through the ability of insight, students are expected to be able to relate learning to everyday life, especially in Mathematics subjects where at the peak students are able to solve mathematical problems by understanding their own concepts, which in turn can anticipate all forms of misconceptions in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the ability of mathematical modeling through the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The Indonesian Realistic Mathematical Education approach is a learning approach that uses real problems as the beginning of learning mathematics so that it is skilled in solving problems, so as to obtain essential knowledge and concepts from the learning material. The research method used in this research is a one-shot case study experiment. This research was conducted in class XI.TKJ SMK Yayasan Bakti Prabumulih Foundation in the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 30 students. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. Data collection in this study used a test instrument in the form of description questions based on indicators of mathematical modeling ability. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the mathematical modeling skills of students through the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education approach reached an average percentage of 75.96%.

Abstract

As an effort to assist in improving the quality of education, mathematics is taught to students in formal educational institutions from the basic level of education. However, many students do not like mathematics and consider it the most difficult subject. To address this, teachers can apply ethnomathematics learning to learning activities. One of the cultures that can be used is the meron tradition. The meron tradition is one of the traditions of Islamic ritual ceremonies in Sukolilo which is intended as an event to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. The purpose of this study is to examine the existence of ethnomathematics in the meron tradition in Sukolilo, on the topic of geometry in learning mathematics. This research was conducted using qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The research data collection techniques about the meron tradition, using interview techniques, and documentation with research instruments include interview guidelines and field notes. Interviews were conducted with five residents of Sukolilo. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that the concept of ethnomathematics in the meron tradition can be seen in each part of the meron. In the mustaka section there is a wreath in the form of a flat circular shape and in the miniature form of the mosque there is a rectangular shape of a cube and pyramid, the gunungan section has a cone shape, the ancak section has two flat shapes, namely a rectangle and a trapezoid.

Abstract

Linear program has a scope of material that emphasizes the method of determining the optimum value (maximum or minimum). Linear programming problems are generally presented through word problems that involve linear inequalities and straight line graphs, each of which requires different strategies and knowledge. This research was conducted to determine differences in the ability of students who solve linear program problems through word problems and graphical approach. Research subjects were 26 students at 11th grade in SMAN 7 Mataram. The research method used was mixed methods with sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data obtained through tests and qualitative data obtained through interviews. Data analysis with two-tail comparative statistical tests produced tstatistic = 3.63 > tcritical one-tail = 2.05 at α=0.05 which means that H0 is rejected. Then it can be concluded that there were significant differences in the ability of students who solved linear program problems through word problems and graphical approach. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the importance of providing students with consistent, continuous and varied problem solving experiences in their level of difficulty.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant difference between the learning outcomes of mathematics using the model Make a Match learning and Pair Checks learning model on the integer material in class VII MTs IB Silaping. This type of research is a comparative study with experimental methods. The population in this study were students of class VII MTs IB Silaping totaling 92 students. The sample of this research is class VII2 b as the experimental class 1 and class VII1 a as the experimental class 2 with the same number of 16 students. The samples were determined by non-probability sampling. The data collection instrument is a test. The data analysis technique used is the normality test, homogeneity test, and to test the hypothesis with the t-test. The results of this study indicate that: (1) mathematics learning outcomes using the Make a Match learning model with an average value of 86,88; (2) mathematics learning outcomes using the Pair Checks learning model with an average value of 80,56. So it can be concluded that (3) there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of mathematics using the Make a Match learning model and the Pair Checks learning model on the integer material in class VII MTs IB Silaping. This is in accordance with the calculation of the t-test which is obtained at the significant level is 0,05 and dk = 30 with tcount = 2,433 and ttable = 2,042 this indicates that tcount > ttable.
