Abstract

Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor that grows in the cervix and often attack women. In Indonesia cervical cancer is the number one killer of all cancers. So early detection is very important. The incidence of cancer from year to year has been increasing significantly. On the contrary, the coverage of pap smear test has been decreasing. The aims are to determine the correlation of characteristics (age, education, and employment), knowledge and motivation and early detection of cervical cancer in couples of childbearing age in patients of Ulin General Hospital Banjarmasin. This type of research is analytic survey with cross sectional. The population is all couples of childbearing age who visit in obstetrics policlinic in Ulin General Hospital Banjarmasin. Sampling method was done by accidental sampling using a sample size of 30 people. Analysis using the spearman rank correlation test with 95% confidence value. Results find no correlation between age and early detection of cervical cancer (p=0,264>α=0,05), a correlation between education and early detection of cervical cancer (p=0,001<α=0,05), a correlation between employment with early detection of cervical cancer (p=0,003<α=0,05), no correlation between knowledge with the early detection of cervical cancer (p=0,425>α=0,05)), no correlation between motivation with the early detection of cervical cancer (p=0,264>α=0,05).

Abstract

Problematic health areas such as maternal and child health is one of the target areas to be addressed so that by 2030, reduction of maternal mortality by less than 70 per 100,000 live births will be attained. Mental illness that happens in postpartum women is significantly associated with morbidity and disability. There are about 10% of pregnant women and 13% of mothers who experience mental disorder, especially depression worldwide. This study aimed to determine and analyze the obstetrical factors associated with postpartum depression. This study used quantitative design with descriptive survey method. A total of 88 participants were included coming from the two General Hospital in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. EPDS, BDI-II, and PPDRF checklist were used. It was found out that there is no significant association between the level of depression and desire to be pregnant, complication in pregnancy, and history of abortion. However, there is a significant relationship between participants’ level of depression and their experience of menstrual problems. There are 15 or 17% mothers who suffered severe postpartum depression in both hospitals. This needs to be a concern for health workers because postpartum depression mothers could have a poor relationship with children, difficulty meeting their daily needs, caring for children, or even developing into postpartum psychosis.

Abstract

10% of teenagers by the of aged 15-19 years in Indonesia have become mothers. In fact, getting pregnant at that age has many risks of childbirth complications. The purpose of this study is to determine the causal factors, the impact on reproductive health, and solutions to solving problems of early marriage. The design of this study used a qualitative method with a sample of couples who are married at a young age. Early marriage in the city of Banjarmasin is caused by one's own desires, intimate relationships, and getting pregnant first. Therefore, a strategic step to resolve the problem is through coaching youth and collaboration with the Office of Religious Affairs. Early marriage needs the support and active role of the community for reducing the cases.

Abstract

Premature babies are babies born alive before the 37th week of gestational age which is calculated from the first day of the last menstruation. Baby care in an incubator is a method of caring for infants by putting the baby in a device that serves to help create adequate ambient temperatures with normal temperatures. Providing optimal nutrition is important in the management of premature and very low weight babies. Prevention of infection is the most important part of every newborn component. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between post natal care and premature baby health at the Siti Fatimah Makassar Hospital. This study is a cross sectional study, the population in this study were all babies born at gestational age less than 37 weeks and who were temporarily undergoing treatment at Siti Fatimah Hospital Makassar. Sampling using purposive sampling, obtained 30 samples according to inclusion criteria. Data collection is done in a primary way with direct observation techniques. The collected data is then processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel computer programs and statistical programs (SPSS) version 6.0. Data analysis includes univariate analysis by looking for frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with chi-square test (x <0.05), to determine the relationship between variables. The results of the bivariate analysis found a relationship between postnatal care with premature infant health (p = 0.033). So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between post natal care with premature baby health at the Siti Fatimah Makassar Hospital. Therefore, paramedics should make efforts to continuously improve health services and carry out care of premature babies properly and apply optimal care facilities. For further research, researchers can conduct studies on other treatments provided to premature babies.

Abstract

Fruits of Baccaurealanceolata is commonly used by tribe banjar in south Borneo to protect the skin damages due to sun light. People apply the pulverized fruits to the skin that will be exposed to sunlight. Antioxidant bioassay method (DPPH) is used to prove the effectiveness of the fruits.Baccaurea lanceolata fruitsvwere extracted by 70% ethanol, followed by fractionation with n-hexane, ether, ethyl acetate and methanol to give n-hexane (fr-H), ether (fr. Et2O), ethyl acetate (fr. EtOAc) and methanol (fr. MeOH) fractions respectively. Preparative TLC (SiO2) of the fr. EtOAc that showed the the highest antioxidant activity among those fractions. Based on spectroscopic data and comparison with reported data, the isolated compounds were identified as β-Sitosterol.
