Abstract

Hypertension is established at systolic pressure of 140 mmHg / more when at rest, diastolic pressure of 90 mmHg / more when at rest or on the move. This study uses a cross sectional research method, the purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of stress levels and eating patterns with the incidence of hypertension in hospitalized patients in the Baji Dakka treatment room at Labuang Baji Hospital in Makassar. The method of sampling uses accidental sampling method, where data collection is done by interviewing, filling out questionnaires. Many factors can trigger hypertension, one of which is stress and diet. When a person experiences stress, the body will produce the hormone adrenaline which can increase blood pressure, and uncontrolled eating patterns lead to an increase in blood volume, so that the heart's work in pumping blood also increases and thickening of artery walls by fat or cholesterol (atherosclerosis) which including foods containing fat are organ meats, chicken eggs, coconut milk foods, and all foods processed with cooking oil. The number of samples 37 respondents. The collected data is processed and analyzed using a computer statistics program. Data analysis included univariate analysis by looking for frequency distribution, and bivariate analysis by chi-square test of significance α <= 0.05 to determine the relationship between stress and eating patterns on the incidence of hypertension. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a stress relationship p = 0,000 <α = 0.05 and dietary patterns p = 0,000 <α = 0.05.

Abstract

Problematic health areas such as maternal and child health is one of the target areas to be addressed so that by 2030, reduction of maternal mortality by less than 70 per 100,000 live births will be attained. Mental illness that happens in postpartum women is significantly associated with morbidity and disability. There are about 10% of pregnant women and 13% of mothers who experience mental disorder, especially depression worldwide. This study aimed to determine and analyze the obstetrical factors associated with postpartum depression. This study used quantitative design with descriptive survey method. A total of 88 participants were included coming from the two General Hospital in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. EPDS, BDI-II, and PPDRF checklist were used. It was found out that there is no significant association between the level of depression and desire to be pregnant, complication in pregnancy, and history of abortion. However, there is a significant relationship between participants’ level of depression and their experience of menstrual problems. There are 15 or 17% mothers who suffered severe postpartum depression in both hospitals. This needs to be a concern for health workers because postpartum depression mothers could have a poor relationship with children, difficulty meeting their daily needs, caring for children, or even developing into postpartum psychosis.

Abstract

Premature babies are babies born alive before the 37th week of gestational age which is calculated from the first day of the last menstruation. Baby care in an incubator is a method of caring for infants by putting the baby in a device that serves to help create adequate ambient temperatures with normal temperatures. Providing optimal nutrition is important in the management of premature and very low weight babies. Prevention of infection is the most important part of every newborn component. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between post natal care and premature baby health at the Siti Fatimah Makassar Hospital. This study is a cross sectional study, the population in this study were all babies born at gestational age less than 37 weeks and who were temporarily undergoing treatment at Siti Fatimah Hospital Makassar. Sampling using purposive sampling, obtained 30 samples according to inclusion criteria. Data collection is done in a primary way with direct observation techniques. The collected data is then processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel computer programs and statistical programs (SPSS) version 6.0. Data analysis includes univariate analysis by looking for frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with chi-square test (x <0.05), to determine the relationship between variables. The results of the bivariate analysis found a relationship between postnatal care with premature infant health (p = 0.033). So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between post natal care with premature baby health at the Siti Fatimah Makassar Hospital. Therefore, paramedics should make efforts to continuously improve health services and carry out care of premature babies properly and apply optimal care facilities. For further research, researchers can conduct studies on other treatments provided to premature babies.

Abstract

This research studied the implementation of the Primary Health Care approach to health service delivery in Zimbabwe’s rural areas from 2009 to 2012. The approach was launched in response to the Alma-Alta Declaration in 1978 which sought to end the inequalities in health care provision around the globe and was first adopted and implemented in 1982 in Zimbabwe. The approach almost collapsed due to the economic meltdown in the past decade but the period 2009 to 2013 marked a new economic paradigm in Zimbabwe which saw the economy being dollarized which subsequently led to the revival and the resuscitation of the health sector. It is therefore to explore the progress and the dynamics surrounding the implementation of the PHC at Mt Darwin Hospital in light of the dollarized economy. The study explores the dynamics surrounding the implementation of PHC at Mt Darwin District Hospital by particular attention to the following key elements: promotion of nutrition, sanitation, maternal and child care, immunization, treatment of common diseases and provision of essential drugs. Qualitative techniques such as face to face interviews with key informants and documentary research were used to generate data. The research findings revealed that PHC is a powerful tool in delivering health services in Mt Darwin. However, lack of material, financial and human resources have hindered the proper implementation of the PHC approach in Mt Darwin district. The study recommends multi sectoral collaboration in solving health related issues.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of core stabilization exercise compared to general exercise for non-specific low back pain among athletes. There were 16 athletes with non-specific low back pain participated in this study. They were divided randomly into two groups after the screening process: core stabilization exercise group (CSG) and general exercise group (GEG). They were required to finish three sessions per week for six weeks. The pre-test and post-test were recorded using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (ODQ). The study revealed that the core stabilization exercise group is influential and has significant pain relief (p=0.000) and disability reduced (p=0.001) compared to the general exercise group after six weeks of intervention. This study demonstrated that core stabilization exercise is effective in reducing pain relief and reduce functional disability. Thus, prescribing core stabilization exercise may be beneficial to be used as therapeutic exercises for patients who suffer low back pain as it relieves pain and reduces functional disability.
