Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has revolutionized the way businesses operate, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector. This study investigates the online marketing transformation of culinary MSMEs in Karawang, Indonesia, exploring the strategies they employ, the challenges they face, and the impact of digitalization on their business performance. The study also examines the influence of the marketing mix (product, price, place, and promotion) on these businesses and how they leverage e-commerce platforms to reach a wider audience. The study also employs a SWOT analysis to understand the internal and external factors affecting these MSMEs. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. In-depth interviews were conducted with owners and managers of culinary MSMEs in Karawang to gain insights into their online marketing practices and experiences. Additionally, a survey was administered to a larger sample of culinary MSMEs to gather quantitative data on their online marketing adoption and outcomes. The data analysis involved thematic analysis for qualitative data and descriptive and inferential statistics for quantitative data. The findings reveal that culinary MSMEs in Karawang are increasingly embracing online marketing tools and platforms, such as social media, e-commerce marketplaces, and food delivery apps. The adoption and utilization of these tools vary across different types of MSMEs, with larger and more established businesses demonstrating a higher level of digital maturity. The study also identifies several challenges faced by MSMEs in their online marketing efforts, including limited digital literacy, lack of resources, and intense competition. The results also highlight the importance of adapting the marketing mix to the online environment and the positive impact of e-commerce adoption on business performance. The SWOT analysis further reveals the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by culinary MSMEs in their online marketing transformation. The online marketing transformation of culinary MSMEs in Karawang is an ongoing process, with both opportunities and challenges. While digital technologies offer significant potential for business growth and expansion, MSMEs need to overcome various obstacles to fully leverage these tools. The study provides valuable insights for policymakers, industry practitioners, and academics to support the digitalization of MSMEs in the culinary sector and promote their sustainable development.

Abstract

The rapid urbanization and population growth in Bangladesh have resulted in a substantial increase in municipal solid waste (MSW) generation, posing a significant challenge to traditional waste management practices that primarily focus on collection and disposal. This study explores the potential of implementing the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to address this escalating waste crisis and transition towards a more sustainable waste management approach. A mixed-methods approach was employed, encompassing a comprehensive literature review and primary data collection through surveys and interviews. The literature review examined existing waste management practices in Bangladesh and the potential benefits of 3Rs implementation. Surveys and interviews were conducted with key stakeholders, including municipal authorities, waste management professionals, and residents, to gain insights into current waste management challenges and perceptions regarding 3Rs adoption. The findings revealed that current waste management practices in Bangladesh are predominantly reliant on collection and disposal, with limited emphasis on 3Rs. The lack of awareness, infrastructure, and economic incentives were identified as major barriers to 3Rs implementation. It is estimated that through effective 3Rs implementation, MSW disposal in Bangladesh can be reduced by 60-85%. This study underscores the urgent need to move beyond collection and disposal and embrace 3Rs as a cornerstone of sustainable waste management in Bangladesh. Recommendations include raising public awareness, developing infrastructure, and providing economic incentives to promote 3Rs adoption. By implementing these measures, Bangladesh can effectively address its waste crisis and transition towards a circular economy, fostering environmental protection, resource conservation, public health improvement, and economic development.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital platforms has transformed the business landscape, presenting both challenges and opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in the culinary sector. This study investigates the critical factors that drive business success in this dynamic digital age, focusing on the role of emotional intelligence, product innovation, and risk-taking propensity among culinary MSMEs in the South Banjarmasin District, Indonesia. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were gathered from 40 culinary MSME owners or managers through a structured questionnaire. The research model, grounded in established theoretical frameworks, was tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that while emotional intelligence and product innovation exhibit a positive association with business success, their direct impact was not statistically significant in this specific context. In contrast, risk-taking propensity emerged as a powerful predictor of business success, underscoring the importance of calculated risk-taking in navigating the complexities of the digital marketplace. This research contributes valuable insights into the entrepreneurial dynamics of digital-based culinary MSMEs. It highlights the critical role of risk-taking propensity in achieving success, suggesting that a willingness to embrace calculated risks is essential for thriving in the competitive digital landscape. The study also underscores the need for further research to explore the nuanced interplay of emotional intelligence, product innovation, and other factors in driving business success in this sector.

Abstract

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a significant public health issue with devastating consequences for maternal and child health. This study investigates the prevalence and impact of IPV on pregnant women and their children in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, Indonesia, a region with limited research on this topic. A longitudinal study was conducted with 250 pregnant women recruited from antenatal clinics in Bener Meriah Regency. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews at three time points: during pregnancy, six months postpartum, and one year postpartum. The questionnaires assessed IPV experiences, maternal mental health (depression, anxiety, and stress), and child health outcomes (birth weight, growth, and development). The prevalence of IPV during pregnancy was 32%. Women who experienced IPV were significantly more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and stress during pregnancy and postpartum. IPV was also associated with lower birth weight and an increased risk of developmental delays in children. In conclusion, this study highlights the serious consequences of IPV for maternal and child health in Bener Meriah Regency. The findings underscore the urgent need for IPV screening and intervention programs in antenatal and postnatal care settings. Midwives play a critical role in identifying and supporting women experiencing IPV.

Abstract

In the contemporary business landscape, sustainability reporting has become increasingly critical as stakeholders demand greater transparency and accountability from companies regarding their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. This study delves into the factors that influence the extent of sustainability report disclosure, focusing on the role of financial performance, stakeholder pressure, and the moderating effect of independent commissioners. This study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing data from 96 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2022. The sample encompasses 288 observations, and purposive sampling was employed to select companies that met specific criteria, ensuring the inclusion of companies that have consistently disclosed sustainability reports and maintained financial stability. Regression analysis with an absolute difference test was conducted using SPSS 23 to analyze the relationships between the variables. The findings of this study indicate that financial performance and stakeholder pressure significantly influence sustainability report disclosure. Companies with higher financial performance tend to disclose more sustainability information, suggesting that they have the resources and motivation to invest in sustainability reporting. This positive association between financial performance and sustainability reporting implies that companies with stronger financial positions are better equipped to allocate resources towards sustainability initiatives and their subsequent disclosure. In conclusion, the proportion of independent commissioners on the board moderates these relationships, indicating that independent oversight enhances the positive effects of financial performance and stakeholder pressure on sustainability report disclosure. The presence of independent commissioners on the board strengthens corporate governance mechanisms, ensuring greater transparency and accountability in sustainability reporting.

Abstract

Taxes serve as the cornerstone of any nation's economic framework, functioning as both a regulatory mechanism and a primary source of government revenue. They are indispensable for managing taxpayer behavior, ensuring a steady stream of state income, and financing essential public services and infrastructure development. In Indonesia, the compliance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is pivotal to the nation's fiscal well-being. This study delves into the factors that influence MSME taxpayer compliance, specifically focusing on the role of tax socialization, tax inclusion, and the involvement of tax volunteers. A quantitative research approach was adopted, involving the distribution of questionnaires to MSME taxpayers in Indonesia. The data collected was then analyzed using SPSS software to test the hypotheses regarding the impact of tax socialization, tax inclusion, and tax volunteers on taxpayer compliance. The findings of this study reveal that tax socialization and tax inclusion positively influence the level of tax compliance among Indonesian MSME taxpayers. Furthermore, the involvement of tax volunteers also has a positive impact on enhancing taxpayer compliance. This study underscores the importance of tax socialization and tax inclusion in fostering a culture of compliance among MSMEs in Indonesia. The positive role of tax volunteers in assisting taxpayers and promoting compliance is also highlighted. These findings have significant implications for tax authorities in their efforts to improve tax compliance rates and enhance revenue collection.
