Abstract

This study aims to determine the Habitat and Population of the Wandering Whistling Duck (Dendrocygna arcuata) in Banggoi Village, West Bula District, East Seram District. This research was conducted using the IPA Method. From the results of the study it turned out that of these three types of habitat, the ones most often used by flower grouse in carrying out activities such as eating, drinking and playing were mostly carried out in swamps. But for the nesting activity of the flower grouse it is usually done in the bushes. Wandering Whistling Duck (D. arcuata), do more activities in the late afternoon and evening, this is because this species is often used as a hunted animal by the community. The population of flower grouse in the study area was found as many as 76 individuals, and more were found in line 3. This was due to the fact that in this research line the main food of the Wandering Whistling Duck (D. arcuata), namely water hyacinth (Eicchornia crassipes) was found.

Abstract

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Hout) is a plantation crop that has high economic value. Good growth of nutmeg must be started from using good seeds and to get good seeds, the seeding technique must use good quality seeds and good shade. The people of Rumahkay Village use different shelters for seeding nutmeg seedlings, for this reason it is necessary to evaluate which type of shade is better. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the type of shade on the growth of nutmeg seedlings, to determine which type of shade is the best. This research was carried out from August 2022 to September 2022 in Rumahkay Village, Amalatu District, West Seram Regency. This experiment was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 8 levels of shade treatment (N0=no shade; N1=zeng; N2= plastic; N3= paranet; N4=roof house; N5= sago leaves; N6= mosquito net and N7= banner) which was repeated 4 times. Parameters measured were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and total leaf area. The results of the analysis show that the type of shade treatment has a significant and not significant effect on all observation parameters. The results of the Fisher LSD 95% test showed that the shade type N3 (70% paranet) produced the best nutmeg seeds compared to other types of shade.

Abstract

Different characteristics of mangrove habitat will have different water conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of mangrove habitat waters at different mangrove densities in Eyat Mayang Village, Lombok Barat Regency. Observation of mangrove density and characteristics of the waters was carried out in each sample plot using the grid line method. The tree parameters observed included the type and number of trees in the 84 sample plots. Parameters of mangrove habitat waters observed included temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO) and mud thickness. Mangrove density is divided into 3 criteria based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 201 of 2004. Furthermore, statistical analysis was carried out to assess differences in water characteristics at 3 mangrove densities using one-way analysis of variance with a level of 5% (significance 0.05) with SigmaPlot 11.0 software. The results showed that the sparse, medium and dense densities had an average temperature range of 29 ºC, a pH value of 6.8 – 7, a salinity in the range of 35‰, DO 4.8 – 5 mg/l and a mud thickness of 72 – 91 cm . The mangrove area of Eyat Mayang Village has 77.1% sparse tree density, 20% medium tree density and 2.9% dense tree density. The results of statistical analysis using the ANOVA test showed that there were no significant differences in the parameters of temperature, salinity, pH, DO and mud thickness at 3 different density of mangrove trees.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the annual growth rate, diameter growth, and technical rotation age achievement of Titi trees (Gmelina moluccana) 8 years after planting. The method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach, involving the re-measurement (re-numeration) of Titi trees to calculate growth rates and observe changes in growth stages. The results of the study indicate a current annual increment (CAI) of 2.69 cm/yr for diameter in the eighth year, and a mean annual increment (MAI) of 1.52 cm/yr for diameter. In terms of height, the current annual increment (CAI) is 2.48 cm/yr in the eighth year, with a mean annual increment (MAI) of 1.49 cm/yr. The achievement of the technical rotation age for Titi trees (Gmelina moluccana) based on diameter growth is reached in the seventh year. In the eighth year, the development of Titi trees (Gmelina moluccana) shows that 23 individuals are still at the pole stage, 52 individuals have reached the tree stage, and there are no trees that have flowered or fruited yet.

Abstract

This research examines the essence of Social Forestry, including community forestry, which consists of three aspects: institutional, area, and business management. The method is an exploratory approach with data taken using survey methods and field observations. The dimensions of institutional arrangements, forest area management, and enterprises are measured using indicators from the Head of Extension and Human Resources Development Agency Regulation No. P.5/P2SDM/Set/Kum.1/7/2020. The assessment results for KTH Tunas Maju's institutional performance in the area management dimension showed a score of 205 or 56.94% of the maximum indicator value of 360. The assessment for area management performance reached a score of 120, equivalent to 60% of the maximum indicator value of 200. The business management performance score was 215, or 48.86% of the maximum indicator value 440. Consequently, KTH Tunas Maju's overall score is 540, placing it in the "Intermediate-level KTH" category. Considering the existing potential, there is still substantial space for improvement in its performance. Indicators that require enhancement include increased participation of women in leadership positions and membership within the group, the addition of group activity plans, frequency of group meetings, member attendance rates, completeness of secretarial and administrative functions, involvement of managers and members in capacity-building activities and training, and the necessity for a Community Forestry Extension Officer. Furthermore, expanding business partnerships, diversifying products, and increasing business capital is essential.
