Abstract

The objective of the study is to determine urban forest area, based on carbon dioxyde emission estimation from vehicle traffic and human activities in the city and around. The result of carbon dioxyde emission calculation used as a basic to determine proportional forest area to established. The comprhensive plan of urban forest, covers species and vegetation type that projected to be able to abrsorb the emission. The analysis shows that amount of carbon dioxyde emission from vehicle traffic in the city was 50,186.4 tons/year, meanwhile, carbon dioxyde produced by human respiratory activities was 9,499.47 ton/year. The necessary of urban forest area to absorb the amount of that emission is 12.67 hectare. Calculation of vegetation space approximately 10 x 10 m2, based on assumption that to absorb carbon dioxyde is in the central of city. Therefore to be recommended that the type of the urban forest is recreation forest type, in order to improve aestetic and convenience of the city in the future. The number of species to be planted is consists of 21 species, which 30 % of the forest area will designed as an open space area for community interaction. Therefore, the number of trees to be planted is about 620.56 individu of tree.

Abstract

Dryland farmers in Gunungkidul Regency have been planting cassava as intercropping plants with intercropping systems along with other crops on their land. This model of agroforestry planting was also applied to the HKm land by members of the Wana Lestari I farmer group in Getas Village, Playen Sub-District. Nearly all members of the group planted cassava on HKm land. This article intends to uncover the benefits of cassava for Wana Lestari I farmer, as well as the potential for future development to increase the income of farmer. The study was conducted by survey method with respondents as much as 30% of the population. Respondents who still plant cassava on the plots of land are 80%. Cassava are divided into three benefits, namely as a source of food, as a source of family income, and as a source of animal feed. Potential development of cassava is still very large, and can be done by doing post-harvest processing. It will make the products have added value and then increase the selling value of various processed cassava

Abstract

Therefore this study aims to analyze the level of diversity in the measurement of volume of logs in the field between researchers and Technical Personnel for Sustainable Production Forest Management (GANIS-PHPL) inputted in the SI-PUHH Online application. The method used is a quantitative method by developing models mathematical (calculations), which are related to the measurement of logs. The results showed that the Technical Personnel for Sustainable Production Forest Management (GANIS-PHPL) owned by PT. Gema Hutani Lestari is not careful in carrying out its duties and authorities in measuring the correctness of the volume of logs, because there has been an excess volume tolerance of 5.97% of the set tolerance limit of 5%, giving rise to an element of state losses. Thus the performance and role of GANIS-PHPL is deemed necessary for guidance and control related to its duties and authority in terms of measuring and testing the volume of logs, so that the calculation of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) reaches the desired target.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the resilience of sawn timber traded in the city of Ambon against the attack of wood destroyer organisms namely dry wood termite (Cryptotermes cynocephalus Light) and subteranian termite (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren). The results showed that from feeding 3 types of wood using 3 types of preservatives on dry wood termites, Meranti with preservatives 1 (LATREX 400 EC) has the highest level of dried wood termites (48%), while Pulai with Papaya Leaf extract has the lowest mortality rate of dry wood termites (24%). The average loss of wood weight due to dry wood termite attack ranged from 4.04 to 11.68%, where the preservatives of papaya leaf extract have the highest weight loss of 11.68%, the lowest (4.04%) on Meranti with preservatives 1 (LATREX 400 EC). The level of weight loss test sample wood feeders that have been given preservatives against soil termite attack are very different in real with the treatment of solid wood comparator (control) of each type, where the percentage of weight loss test sample of wood that uses preservatives between 11.04-18.71%, while the percentage of weight loss of solid wood Meranti, Samama, and Pulai (without preservatives) amounted to 36.39%, 46.04% and 58.65%. Commercial sawn timber in the city of Ambon is more resistant to the attack of dry wood and soil termites when given the treatment of wood preservatives.
