Abstract

The mission of Lutheran churches in Indonesia has recently been considered less developed than other streams, such as Charismatics and Pentecostals. This is due to the lack of significance in carrying out mission strategies by the Lord Jesus. It can be believed that the success of the mission of the Lord Jesus was influenced by the strategy used in carrying out the mission itself. In this study, researchers used a qualitative research method emphasizing literature study. Therefore, the Bible is the main source in this study, while books and journals are used as references. After conducting a study based on qualitative research methods, the focus of this research is proven that Jesus' mission strategy has contributed to significantly impact the success and development of the mission. The strategies of the Lord Jesus in carrying out His mission are choosing a team to be discipled, teaching in various places, the existence of mission material, serving with supernatural power, serving holistically, and not looking at people from various statuses. Jesus was very focused on fostering disciples to become evangelists and church planters. The strategy of the Lord Jesus, as described in this study, is very appropriate when applied in Lutheran churches in Indonesia so that this church stream will be more advanced in mission in the future.

Abstract

This writing employs a qualitative approach to the method of literature research. In their apologetic activities, several Indonesian Christian apologists ended up in court because they were caught in blasphemy laws. The reason is that Christian apologists often consider acts of offense (attacking) other religious beliefs to be included in the scope of Christian apologetics. The Bible does not justify acts of apologetics to insult and demean other religious beliefs but to correct existing misunderstandings. An arrogant attitude in apologetics will cause new problems for apologists by trying to build a wall of enmity (separator) between opponents and the gospel that is conveyed so that it opens opportunities for the gospel to be reviled and rejected, as well as building a bad mindset about the gospel because Christian apologetics is not to win an argument but to pave the way for preaching the Gospel of Christ. Because the success of an apologist lies in a respectful and gentle attitude and behavior accompanied by a pure heart. So the research objective of this scientific paper is to expose the attitude that Indonesian apologists should have and to open the curtain on understanding misunderstandings in understanding offense perspective apologetics.

The presence of Christian Education (CE) within the scope of the school aims to provide enlightenment of thought for multi-ethnic and multicultural students in the dynamics of learning, especially in the learning process of Christian Education. Christian Education is presented as a bridge between ethnicities and cultures so that there are values of tolerance in the interpretation of the Christian Faith. Abstract

The background of this paper was based on the fact that the contribution of teachers in helping to increase the confidence of students with disabilities had not been significant. The real contribution as a teacher was very necessary, considering that the students who were categorized as disabled in 2020-2021 had reached 144,621 students. The size of students with disabilities was a concern for every one of us, especially teachers, to help educationally and mentally. In describing this paper, the researchers used qualitative methods with a literature study approach. The formulation of questions to be answered in this article, what was the description of the problems of students with disabilities? What was the concrete contribution of PAK teachers in fostering the confidence of these students? The results of the discussion in this article suggested that the problems experienced by students with disabilities were that they received a negative stigma and were vulnerable to mental health. The teachers’ real contribution to help the growth of the students’ self-confidence was carried out through a friendship-based teaching approach, skill-based education and independence-based education. The students' confidence would grow if this was realized and the educators followed Jesus' attitude in humanizing disabled people.

Abstract

Suffering is a topic that is often discussed. The suffering that often afflicts humans raises human arguments about the absence of God. They think that if God exists, suffering should not exist. Looking at Exodus 1-2, the narrative does not mention God's name in the suffering the Israelites faced. Through this article, the author will explore how God's role works behind the scenes in people's suffering. The author uses a qualitative method with a narrative interpretation approach to assessing the text. The research question in this study is how is the role of God behind the scenes in the suffering of believers according to theodicy in the narrative of Exodus 1-2? This study aims to find the part of God behind the scenes in the suffering of believers by examining theodicy in the description of Exodus 1-2. This study found that God works behind the scenes for the people through His providence in suffering. Chapter 1 describes God's providence to Israel, and Chapter 2 God's providence to the deliverer. This providence is proof of God's faithfulness to His covenant and shows that His plan must be fulfilled, and nothing can thwart God's plan for His people. It can be concluded that the analysis of the narrative structure of Exodus 1-12 confirms that God works behind the scenes of the people's suffering by organizing the flow of the people's life scenarios in the suffering they face.

Abstract

Burnout is a serious threat to Christian parents due to Covid-19, because it can impact physical, emotional, and behavior that is not educating and assisting children effectively but can damage children's mentality. This study examines the relationship between religious focus coping and burnout in Christian parents in West Bandung. Data analysis using bivariate correlations technique with sampling technique using stratified random sampling. Because the population is unknown for certain, the minimum number of samples is 10 x the number of variables to determine the number of samples using the Roscoe formula. This study uses two variables, namely religious focus coping and burnout. Thus, the minimum number of samples should be 20. In this study, 43 Christian parents were involved, meaning that the specified number of samples met the requirements. The results showed that the correlation coefficient of religious focus coping with burnout was -0.495, which was strong enough. While the coefficient value marked - (negative) means that burnout is reduced or decreased due to high religious focus coping. The significance of the correlation was 0.001, smaller than the significance of alpha > 0.05. Because the significance of 0.001 is less than 0.05, hypothesis 0 (Ho) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This means a significant correlation or relationship exists between religious focus coping and burnout of Christian parents.

Abstract

Methods in educational research in UPH Teachers College is a course that prepares Teachers College students to be thinkers, researchers, and competent writers based on a biblical Christian worldview. The gap the researchers came across was a need for this course to be integrated with the biblical Christian worldview to develop research with integrity. The researchers then designed a module that was used in methodology class, and the method used is a descriptive qualitative, involving 110 students from 4 majors who took this course in the odd semester of 2021. This research's purpose is to elaborate on the usage of this module which is significant in helping the students to comprehend the biblical Christian worldview. The research results show that 96.36% of the students stated that the module equipped them to have a biblical Christian worldview for doing research. The results of the usage of modules show that students can conduct research based on a Christian worldview with integrity. Things for future improvement are the feedback and motivational words, attention to the layout by providing a navigation feature, and fun learning concepts using formal, popular, and communicative Indonesian language. A two-way dialogue style can make the module more interactive and an addition to learning videos made by the lecturers.

Abstract

As a form of a traumatic event, childhood sexual abuse has deprived survivors of consciousness so that survivors weren’t willing to seek, pay attention to, and engage in recovery. However, the survivor’s consciousness could be regained. The question needed to be answered in this article is what kind of approach, psychologically and theologically, can the church, as their caregiver, use to regain survivors’ consciousness? This article will answer this question from the psychological perspective of Judith Herman on childhood sexual abuse and from the theological perspective of Shelly Rambo on “wounds” of posttraumatic events. At the end of this article, I propose a theopoetic-based approach to testimony as a basis for the church to approach survivors of childhood sexual abuse, such as approaching survivors, being open to witnessing the various wounds, responding to survivors’ testimonies, and engaging in the further discussions about the survivor’s reality through the ministry of the Word. This approach opens up possibilities for building a recovery process.

Abstract

This study purpose to analyze the ethical responsibility of the church towards marginalized groups based on the ideas of Emmanuel Levinas. This research is qualitative-analytical using the library research method. This research shows that Emmanuel Levinas' thoughts regarding ethical responsibility can be a basis for the church to respond to the existence of marginalized people in urban areas. The ethical responsibility in question is the responsibility to maintain humanitarian actions, acknowledge their existence, provide attention and protect their rights as human beings. In this case, the church as an institution has a great ethical responsibility towards the marginalized, especially in the context of socio-economic justice.

Abstract

Local wisdom that develops in every region in Indonesia is an important thing that must be developed and planted in every layer of society. One of the local pearls of wisdom developed in Maluku is Pela Gandong. Pela Gandong has long been developed in Maluku, but unfortunately, it has not been rooted and has become flesh and blood of every person in Maluku. The conflict that occurred in 1999-2000 is the evidence. Thus, this research aims to make Maluku's local wisdom Pela Gandong necessary for living in harmony in post-conflict times. Using qualitative research literature-based, the authors found that even though the root of the conflict was not in religion but in politics and the economy, the flourishing of local wisdom Pela Gandong could fortify any threats from outside. Therefore, this is where the role of Christian Education is to instil the attitude of Pela Gandong in every student. The task of flourishing Pela Gandong is not only the responsibility of the family and society, but education is an important means of enriching it.
