Abstract

The problem of plastic waste, lately continues to be a concern by the government of Tangkas Village, Klungkung Regency. This is because disposable plastic waste that is discarded carelessly by the surrounding community has caused disruption to the palemahan system (environment) in Tangkas Village. Because of concern over the problem, the Desa Adat and the local Desa Dinas, established the Darma Winangun Community Self-help Group which concentrated on the conservation of education-based campuses, particularly in the prevention of disposable plastic waste. After five years of running its various programs, the Dharma Winangun Community Self-Help Group still exists today, although it faces several obstacles. Globally, the various programs above can overcome and change people's behavior to not be consumptive towards the use of plastic waste, especially those that are disposable and switch to the use of environmentally friendly products. However, in its implementation, these various programs encountered several obstacles namely, (1) internal obstacles; there are still some communities whose awareness has not yet been awakened to the danger of disposable plastic waste, limited human resources to process waste gradually, (2) external constraints; limited capacity of space and machinery in landfills (TPS), as well as in the ecotour program also face a shortage of implementation team staff.

Abstract

For ordinary people the universe is a vehicle that is very secret and very difficult to understand. This is due to human limitations in describing it as the impact of knowledge that has not been well developed. Not only ordinary people, even scientists are still very difficult to explain the various events that are displayed by the universe. In scientific disciplines, the conception of the universe can be learned using applied science called cosmology. Cosmology is a scientific discipline that seeks to provide explanations related to the creation of the universe, the phenomena of the universe, as well as threats to the universe or the destruction of the universe. Cosmology deals with the creation, maintenance, and fusion of the universe. All of that is studied in the discipline of cosmology. In Hinduism there is a teaching or knowledge that discusses the same thing, the teachings included in the Vedas are called viratvidyā (Hindu Cosmology). This teaching emphasizes the vedas as a basis for thinking to formulate a theory that can describe the ins and outs of the universe. One of the Vedic books that deals with the teaching of viratvidyā is Upaniṣad, which is specifically found in the Bṛhad‘Āraṇyaka Upaniṣad. The viratvidyā teachings contained in the Bṛhad‘Āraṇyaka Upaniṣad will be reviewed using the Hindu perspective. This viewpoint specifically will be discussed with a focus on the very complex primordial element, God. Therefore the concept of this teaching will be reviewed and elaborated based on the perspective of Hindu theology.

Abstract

Hinduism teaches that nature is a manifestation of God. He is present and pervades all his creations. Today, Bali with most of it’s Hindusm majority is also not spared from environmental damage. One of the phenomena that occurred was the conversion of agricultural land. The Balinese people who used to be known as agricultural societies are now threatened to lose their rice fields. The phenomenon of the conversion of agricultural land affects the existence of subak which is a traditional Balinese farmer organization based on religious socio-agrarian life. Subak which is a world cultural heritage is now facing a big challenge due to the reduced interest of Balinese people to become farmers and supported by the phenomenon of land conversion. Abstract

Hinduism is a universal religion that has a variety of styles of worship of the Holy spirit which is called God. Variants embodied in this style of worship which have dichotomous implications, on the one hand provides freedom in terms of worship that is egalitarian, but on the other hand raises which debate is better so that friction tends to be unavoidable in this case. The conventional Balinese Hindu religion and Sampradaya actually have good values that can be offered, so that the transfer of beliefs internally in Hinduism is very possible. Another factor is the archaeic cultural style that is closely attached to the Balinese people who do have an agrarian system so that worship of God in its strength aspect is very foremosted and the boring religious style makes this variant of the internal transfer of faith a tantalizing thing. These factors further exacerbate the dispute between Sampradaya and the concept of local diversity in Bali. The solution to this friction is very necessary in order to maintain the stability of Hinduism in Bali in particular and Indonesia in general.

Abstract

Uang Kepeng is well known in Balinese society, since the trade between the Chinese and the ethnic Balinese. The high intensity of interaction between ethnic Chinese and Balinese led to a cultural mix between the two ethnicities. One of the effects of such cultural mixing is the use of UangKepeng in Hindu religious rituals. As a cultural object which is the result of a process of cultural mixing, the use of UangKepeng in the traditions and ceremonies of Balinese people is interesting to study. The use of UangKepeng in every ceremony in Bali is also contained in Hindu literature. The value of using UangKepeng can also be seen from the perspective of advaita, visistadvaita and dvaita. This study aims to understand the use of UangKepeng in community life and other factors that contribute to the use of UangKepeng in both tradition and ceremony in Bali. In addition, this study also aims to understand Vedanta's views on the use of UangKepeng in tradition and ceremonies in Bali and people's creativity in preserving and increasing the economic value of UangKepeng. The results of this study indicate that the Hindu community in Bali has a perspective regarding the use of UangKepeng. UangKepeng has a religious meaning because it is closely related to religious ideology. UangKepeng also has economic and mystical significance for the community. The high demand for UangKepeng has led to reproductive and innovative efforts to preserve Uang Kepeng.
