Abstract

This study aims to analyze the messages of da'wah contained within the YouTube channel @ChannelFKSMMSunggal by examining the community's interactions regarding the videos presented on the channel. The research employs a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach. The object of the study is the YouTube channel @ChannelFKSMMSunggal, and data collection is conducted through observation, note-taking, and content analysis to determine whether the content already incorporates elements of da'wah, such as fiqh, aqeedah, and general Islamic studies. The applied analytical method is content analysis, which involves describing message characteristics by elaborating on the content, target audience, and form of the messages, ultimately leading to conclusions about the content’s messaging. It can be concluded that the @ChannelFKSMMSunggal YouTube channel presents Islamic materials that encompass the history of the prophets, aqeedah, fiqh, and discussions related to significant events and current phenomena, all grounded in the Qur'an and Hadith. This presentation links religious teachings with real-life phenomena and the stories of the prophets to reinforce the da'wah messages.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the trend of using the Azar application among Generation Z as a means of communication to make friends in Kabanjahe. This study focuses on the communication behavior of Generation Z when interacting through the Azar application and User actions in the Azar application, as well as the utilization and usefulness of the application. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach, with four informants for the study, this study uses a purposive sampling technique in determining informants and data collection techniques obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and previous journal articles. The theory used in this study is the mediamorphosis theory. The results of the study show that communication behavior in the Azar application involves interaction and communicating casually and users often make video calls, joke, and use emoticons when chatting, as well as other features. In addition, users also show interest in meeting friends in the real world, even though there is a sense of distrust and anxiety when meeting. Informants also create self-identities in the Azar application. The benefits of this application include improving communication, opening new insights, finding a partner, and entertainment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of TikTok social media content on the @eva.alicia account in increasing self-actualization in generation Z, especially students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program (KPI) of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) stambuk 2021. Self-actualization is one of the highest needs in the hierarchy of human needs according to Abraham Maslow, which reflects the full realization of the individual's potential. In today's digital era, social media is one of the dominant means of self-actualization among generation Z. TikTok as a short video-based platform has become a very popular medium of self-expression and development. The @eva.alicia account, which consistently presents motivational, self-improvement, and self-love content, is considered to be able to have a positive influence on the behavior and way of thinking of its audience. The research method used was quantitative descriptive with data collection techniques through the distribution of questionnaires to 70 UINSU KPI student respondents. The results of the study showed that most of the respondents felt encouraged to recognize their potential, improve their quality, and be more confident in expressing themselves in public spaces after consuming content from the account. In addition, respondents also showed increased awareness of the importance of mental health, skill development, and forming a positive self-image.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategy of da'wah carried out by the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) in educating culinary Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan City regarding the importance of halal certification. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and document analysis. The results of the study show that BPJPH implements a communication strategy through various media, including direct socialization, use of social media, and collaboration with various institutions such as local governments, banks, and religious organizations. Social media, especially Instagram and WhatsApp, are used to expand the reach of halal certification education. In addition, training and mentoring programs by the Halal Product Process Assistant (P3H) are key factors in helping MSMEs understand and meet halal certification requirements. The main obstacles in implementing this strategy are the lack of understanding of business actors about the benefits of halal certification and limited resources in meeting administrative requirements. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve education and digitize services so that the halal certification process is more accessible to MSMEs.

Abstract

TikTok as a short video-based social media platform has become one of the dominant news sources among students. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the TikTok account @cnnindonesia as a news media in meeting the information needs of generation Z, especially students of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Islamic Broadcasting Communication Study Program, class of 2021, UIN North Sumatra. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through indepth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Interviews were conducted with 10 students who actively use TikTok as a source of news information. The results of the study show that the TikTok account @cnnindonesia is effective in presenting concise, interesting, and easily accessible news. Presenting news with a short duration, attractive visuals, and active interaction with users are the main factors that make this account popular with students. Most respondents trust the credibility of the @cnnindonesia account because it is part of a major news media with a good reputation. However, some respondents still verify information through other sources to ensure the accuracy of the news received. The results of the study also show that TikTok is not just an entertainment platform, but also has an important role in disseminating educational and useful information for students. This study concludes that the TikTok account @cnnindonesia is effective in meeting the information needs of generation Z students at UIN North Sumatra. However, it is important for students to continue to apply digital literacy in order to sort out valid information and avoid hoax news.

Abstract

This study analyzes the interpersonal communication message of the film if the mother is not there tomorrow by Nagiga Nur Ayati using the semiotic approach of Ferdinand de Saussure. The focal point of this study is to identify and interpret the values of mother-child relationships. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic analysis method, this study examines verbal and nonverbal signs that represent deep meaning in the relationship between mother and child. In obtaining this research data, the author made direct observations of the film, and used several secondary data sources in the form of scientific articles and journals that discussed Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic concept. The results of the study show: the film If Tomorrow the Mother does not show the message of the values of the relationship between mother and child, about the affection of a mother to her child, the sacrifice of a mother to her child, the protection of the child is her own mother, and also the first education that the child gets is her own mother and father. This film conveys the message of the meaning of sincerity, patience, and the importance of openness in family communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital preaching (dakwah) using TikTok in enhancing religious practices among Muslim communities in Tanjung Mulia Medan Deli. A descriptive-correlational quantitative approach was employed, with data collected from 350 purposively sampled participants through structured questionnaires. Statistical analysis using Spearman’s correlation and linear regression revealed a significant positive relationship between digital dakwah access intensity and religious practice levels (? = 0.482; p < 0.001), contributing 23.2% of the variance (R² = 0.232). Key supporting factors included visual content quality (62.3%), stable internet infrastructure (78%), and collaborations between preachers and local influencers (34%), while major barriers were advertisement distractions (57.1%) and non-contextual material (28.6%). A unique "saturation effect" was identified, where excessive access (>3 hours/day) reduced religious practice scores. The study concludes that digital dakwah is partially effective, with optimal impact achieved through locally tailored content, robust infrastructure, and complementary community-based mentoring. These findings highlight the necessity of hybrid strategies integrating digital and conventional approaches to strengthen the internalization of religious values.

Abstract

Unavoidable marital conflict requires effective communication management to maintain harmonious family ties. This qualitative case study research analyzes the application of Face Negotiation Theory in communication with couples resolving conflicts at the Medan Class 1A Religious Court. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three subjects (husband/wife) and divorce file documentation. The results show that preventive and restorative face-work plays a crucial role in managing conflict, influenced by cultural assumptions (individualism/collectivism) and personality tendencies (independent/interdependent), as well as situational factors such as role assessment and relational distance. In the formal context that has reached the trial, individuals have specifically experienced a face-threatening process, so that the tendency of mutual-face concern becomes dominant towards self-face concern with the aim of restoring reputation and winning arguments. This study confirms the relevance of Face Negotiation Theory in the communication process with couples for conflict resolution in the religious court environment, offering benefits to increase the effectiveness of mediation and family dispute resolution with attention to the "face" aspect and interpersonal communication behavior.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the human resources (HR) improvement program for mosque administrators implemented by the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) of Medan City. The main focus of this research is to identify the challenges faced, the strategies used, and the impact of the program on the quality of mosque management. The research results show that increasing human resources for mosque administrators in Medan City faces various obstacles, such as a lack of understanding of modern mosque management, financial limitations, and low regeneration of administrators. DMI Medan City overcomes these challenges through training, mentoring and collaboration approaches with various parties. However, the effectiveness of the program is still limited by the lack of participation of mosque administrators, budget limitations, and less than optimal support. This research contributes to the development of a model for improving human resources for mosque administrators that is more relevant to the urban context, and can be a reference for DMI Medan City policy to optimize the role of mosque administrators.

Abstract

The state of the younger generation presents a considerable challenge in terms of a good understanding of the fiqh of marriage. Many of them are influenced by cultural circumstances and lack a strong foundation. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by the Binjai City Nikah Clinic in carrying out marriage proselytization to the younger generation, as well as identifying strategies and solutions implemented to overcome these challenges. This research is a field research using qualitative methods with in-depth interviews with Nikah Clinic managers and program participants. The findings show that the main challenges faced include a lack of understanding about marriage education, changes in social values that are more liberal, and the influence of secular and materialistic views that are getting stronger. In addition, there is a tendency among the younger generation to postpone marriage. To overcome these challenges, the Marriage Clinic implemented several strategies, including improving the quality and relevance of programs such as pre-marital lectures that focus on mental and emotional readiness, as well as organizing seminars and workshops that teach practical skills in managing home life. The Marriage Clinic also applies a more personalized approach of mentoring and small group discussions, and invites the community to be more involved in da'wah and marriage education. The effectiveness of these strategies is evident in the participants' increased understanding of the importance of marriage readiness, although major challenges remain in relation to the habits and views of the younger generation towards marriage.
