Abstract

Production defects are the main problem in making a product which can reduce production quality. Quality improvement is considered important in improving production quality. This research aims to improve quality by reducing the number of defects that occur on the production floor. This research used a quantitative method research design, and 40 data were taken randomly. Data was collected through direct observation in the field. Data analysis was carried out using the six sigma method and seven tools to determine the type of priority defects. The results of this research show that the six sigma value is still low, namely 2.67, which indicates that improving quality is needed to reduce the number of defects. Improving quality is an important factor in reducing the number of defects that occur. This research provides practical implications for company policy makers in designing strategies to improve production quality and reduce the number of defects.

Abstract

This study aims to calculate the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) value as a measure of machine efficiency in the cup production process. OEE is an important parameter in evaluating machine performance, which includes three main factors, namely availability, performance, and quality. By using the OEE method, this study will analyze the effectiveness of cup production machines in a manufacturing industry. The data used include machine operating time, the number of products produced, and the number of defective products that occur during the production process. The results of the OEE calculation show the level of machine effectiveness that can be used to identify areas that require improvement. With optimal OEE results, companies can increase production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality. defects every production time.

Abstract

Warehouses play a crucial role in the trading business, serving as temporary storage facilities and order fulfillment centers. Paris Superstore Kotamobagu faces several issues, such as product damage due to stockpiling, rodent infestations, and a suboptimal warehouse layout. One solution to address these problems is the implementation of the lean logistics method. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study strategy to explore waste-related issues. Identified wastes include waiting, inventory, motion, and defects. The 5 Why’s analysis revealed the root causes of these problems. The implementation of the 5S method resulted in improved time efficiency, better stock management, and reduced product damage.

Abstract

Flamboyan UMKM is an UMKM engaged in the food sector. They make various types of processed foods, especially processed fish and processed bananas, one of their best-selling products is banana chips with milk and cheese. In the implementation of its production, some waste is still found. To reduce the waste identified in the production process, the application of Lean Manufacturing with the VSM (Value Stream Mapping) method is used to analyze and design the flow of materials and information so that it can identify, analyze and find solutions to make improvements to reduce the waste that occurs. In its implementation, it began with the identification of waste that occurred using interviews and direct observations in the field. The results of waste identification obtained waste at the banana storage work station in the freezer with an average time of 12000 seconds or 200 minutes or 3.33 hours. After the improvements were made, to reduce waste, 1 work station was added so that the banana storage time in the freezer became 3600 seconds or 60 minutes or 1 hour and 2 places were made to increase efficiency.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology necessitates the adoption of efficient and sustainable system development strategies. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of four reuse service approaches within the framework of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), namely API & Service Standardization, Microservices Architecture, API-First Development, and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The research method employed is a literature review of recent scholarly sources, along with an evaluation of the effectiveness of each approach in terms of time efficiency, cost, and resource utilization. The findings indicate that each strategy possesses distinct characteristics and contextual advantages, with the API-First approach deemed the most flexible in supporting service integration and modular system development. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the selection of reuse strategies be aligned with organizational needs and the complexity of the systems being developed.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a systematic raw material planning and control strategy for the production of three motorcycle components—center stands, footrests (bastep), and handlebars—at UD KS Pro, in order to minimize inventory costs and prevent both shortages and excess of raw materials. The company currently faces inefficiencies in managing raw materials, particularly iron pipes and iron plates, due to the absence of a structured planning method. This study employs a Material Requirement Planning (MRP) approach using historical demand data, the Master Production Schedule (MPS), and the Bill of Materials (BOM). The analysis process includes demand forecasting using the Moving Average method, calculating net material requirements, determining safety stock, reorder points, and lot sizing. The results show that implementing MRP helps the company optimize order quantities, reduce stock imbalance risks, and improve both cost efficiency and production continuity. This research is expected to serve as a reference for UD KS Pro in making more accurate and structured inventory management decisions.

Abstract

Defective products are products that do not meet the quality specifications set by the company. The problem of defective products is very common in companies that produce goods, so it is important for companies to take steps to improve quality and reduce defects. Quality control is needed to reduce products that fall into the scrape category, which can result in losses. Analysis of defective products is carried out to find the cause, using quantitative statistical methods, namely Statistical Process Control (SPC). The highest type of defect data comes from torn plastic, followed by thin plastic, burnt plastic, melted plastic. Factors that affect product quality include machines, humans, materials, methods. Old machines can reduce productivity and cause defects. Human factors such as lack of operator concentration and hasty attitudes also affect defects. In addition, poor material quality and work methods that are not in accordance with procedures can cause problems in the production process. Companies need to improve the quality of raw materials and operator discipline to improve production results.

Abstract

PT XBY is a company that processes fishery products into frozen food. In the production area, there was a work accident that resulted in injury. The purpose of this study was to identify potential hazards in the work area and control the risk of work accidents. The method used is HIRARC, which is to identify, assess, and control the risk of work accidents. There were 13 cases of potential hazards recorded with details of the risk level, namely 5 cases (38%) were classified as low risk, 4 cases (31%) were classified as medium risk, 3 cases (23%) were classified as high risk and 1 case (8%) was categorized as extreme risk. Based on the potential hazards, the controls that must be carried out are to use PPE in accordance with the SOP, install the Hazard symbol in the workplace, add tools to lift fish meat to the mixer machine, create a special forklift lane and carry out regular maintenance on the cold storage machine and surimi freezer machine.

Abstract

In carrying out the goals of PDAM Surabaya, there are several efforts that have been made by the Company, starting from processing river water into clean water that is ready for use to setting up the distribution network. Determining the distribution location has an important role in the network distribution management system. This research aims to determine the location of the Pump House which is a place for distributing reservoir water. By using the P-Center method in the hope of finding an effective and efficient Pump House location. Data collection used in this research used an observation and interview process. The research sample was carried out in a Zone 5 area in the zone division of PDAM Surya Sembada, Surabaya City. To determine the location, the P-Center mathematical model is used. The results of this research show that the optimal location for placing a water distribution pump house is in subzone 526 pump house location serving 5,732 customers and 513 serving 5,610 customers. So with the 2 locations found we can serve as many as 11,324 customers.

Abstract

Waste is an element that must be minimized in order to improve efficiency. This study aims to identify and minimize waste in the automotive mat production process at PT XYZ using a lean manufacturing approach. The main issues identified include high delays between processes, inefficient operator movements, suboptimal material flow. Through field observations, value stream mapping (VSM) analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA) using the 5 Whys method, the primary causes of waste were found to be a non-linear factory layout, accumulation of work in process (WIP), and suboptimal coordination and standardization between workstations. Proposed improvements include the implementation of 5S principles to organize the workspace and reduce buildup, optimization of material flow using floor markings and strategic buffers, as well as production line balancing and the adoption of a pull production system. These improvements are expected to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and create a leaner and more competitive production process at PT XYZ.
