Abstract

Ports play a strategic role as hubs of maritime transportation, centers of goods distribution, and drivers of regional economic growth. Regional 1 PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Belawan is one of the key ports in Indonesia, equipped with modern infrastructure to support logistics activities, particularly container handling. The effectiveness of transportation services in this port is strongly influenced by the quality of infrastructure, transportation systems, and coordination among stakeholders. Along with the increasing flow of containers and the dynamics of globalization, an integrated supply chain management system has become essential to ensure efficiency, safety, and speed in goods distribution. This study aims to measure the performance and achievement of the company’s operational indicators by applying the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model. Performance measurement was conducted through the validation of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), weighting using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and score normalization with Snorm De Boer. The SCOR model covers five core processes—plan, source, make, deliver, and return—focusing on two main attributes, namely reliability and responsiveness.

Abstract

The casting of aluminum alloy AA356 plays a strategic role in the manufacturing industry due to its lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance; however, the quality of the casting is highly influenced by the mold cooling mechanism, which governs the phenomena of solidification and filling. This study aims to analyze the effect of mold cooling variations on solidification time, molten metal flow patterns, and the tendency of casting defects, in order to determine the optimal cooling configuration that enhances product quality. The research employed a quantitative approach based on numerical simulation using casting analysis software, combined with a Taguchi experimental design to evaluate mold temperature, coolant flow rate, and cooling channel distance. The simulation results were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) to identify the most significant parameters, followed by a confirmation test under the optimal conditions. The findings indicate that cooling variations significantly affect filling time, temperature distribution, and porosity levels, with certain cooling configurations capable of reducing solidification defects by more than 20% compared to the standard condition.

Abstract

Distribution is a key activity in the supply chain as it is directly related to product delivery to customers. PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk, the producer of Cleo bottled drinking water, distributes 19-liter gallons from its Samarinda depot using a single vehicle with a maximum capacity of 100 gallons. However, fluctuating demand often leads drivers to choose routes based on perceived shortest distance, which may cause inefficient fuel usage. This study applies the Vehicle Routing Problem approach using the Clarke & Wright Saving Heuristic and Sequential Insertion algorithms. The results show that the Sequential Insertion algorithm reduced the total distance to 294.70 km, achieving fuel savings of Rp57.400.00 (16.30%). In comparison, the Clarke & Wright Saving Heuristic reduced the distance to 320.10 km with fuel savings of Rp32.000.00 (9.09%).

Abstract

Drilling mud plays an important role in maintaining well stability, especially since each trajectory faces different lithological and formation pressure issues. On the 36" (conductor) trajectory, the main challenge is shallow pressure that has the potential to cause surface gas, so 8.83 ppg mud is used as a solution to withstand this pressure. The 26“ (top hole) trajectory faces swelling clay issues, so mud with a density of 10.7 ppg is selected to suppress clay expansion. In the 17 ½” (intermediate 1) trajectory, the main problem stems from reactive shale that is prone to collapse, so mud with a weight of 10.9 ppg is designed to maintain hole stability. In the 12 ¼” (intermediate 2) section, the presence of a high-pressure fracture zone required heavier mud, namely 12.9 ppg, to control formation pressure. Meanwhile, the 8 ½” (production hole) section faced the most critical conditions with the risk of HPHT, kick, and lost circulation, so mud with a density of 14.9 ppg was the best solution. The objective of this study is to obtain the right mud formula for each track by utilizing barite as the main weighting material, so that the mud weight can be adjusted to field requirements.

Abstract

Drilling mud plays an important role in 17 ½ inch track operations that often pass through reactive shale formations and fractured zones. This study was conducted to determine whether the High-Performance Water-Based Mud (HPWBM) formulation with KCl-Polymer and polyamine, as well as the addition of Lost Circulation Material (LCM) in the form of CaCO₃ and Fracseal, is capable of maintaining the rheological properties of mud under these conditions. The combination of CaCO₃ and Fracseal proved effective in reducing lost circulation and maintaining mud rheology. These results are in line with recent studies emphasizing the importance of using bridging materials and polymer additives in overcoming fracture rheology problems in intermediate trajectories. Laboratory test results showed a Mud Weight of 10.9 ppg, Plastic Viscosity of 29 cP, Yield Point of 37 lb/100 ft², and Low Shear Yield Point of 12 lb/100 ft². These parameters are within a good range to support cutting removal and fracture closure. The gel strength value of 14/28 lb/100 ft² and API Filtrate of 3.8 mL/30m also indicate that the mud is capable of forming a dense and stable filter cake.

Abstract

Drilling mud filtration plays an important role in maintaining wellbore stability and preventing excessive fluid loss during the drilling process. If uncontrolled, filtration can damage formations and disrupt operations. This study discusses the effectiveness of High-Pressure Water-Based Mud (HPWBM) with the addition of CaCo3 and Fracseal as an effort to reduce filtration and form a good mud cake. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the filtration performance of HPWBM in various well sizes under HighPressure High-Temperature (HPHT) conditions. This test was conducted in accordance with API standards ( 10 ml/30 minutes). The results show that the filtration rate for the 26“ trajectory is 4.6 ml/30 minutes, the 17-1/2” trajectory is 3.8 ml/30 minutes, the 12-1/4“ trajectory is 4.0 ml/30 minutes, and the 8-1/2” trajectory is 2.4 ml/30 minutes. All values were below the API limit, with a decreasing trend at greater depths. This study confirms that HOWBM with CaCo3 and Fracseal can control filtration, maintain well stability, and improve drilling efficiency and safety.

Abstract

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) is one of the most serious environmental impacts of mining activities, especially coal mining. It is characterized by low pH and high concentrations of heavy metals such as Fe, Mn, and Cr. This study aims to analyze a phytoremediation-based AMD management system using local plants. The research methods include a literature review and system modeling using the IDEF0 approach to illustrate the AMD management flow. A SWOT analysis was also conducted. The results show that phytoremediation can reduce heavy metal content by more than 90% and raise the pH of the acidic water from below 4 to near neutral (pH 6–7) within a certain period. From an industrial engineering perspective, this system is efficient because it utilizes local resources, reduces operational costs compared to chemical methods, and supports Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) based on circular economy principles. The integration of phytoremediation into the mining green supply chain provides added value in terms of environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and corporate image enhancement.

Abstract

The salt boiling process in small-scale industries is still largely performed manually, requiring repetitive physical activities that can potentially lead to musculoskeletal disorders among workers. This study aims to evaluate ergonomic risks in the salt boiling process and formulate improvement interventions to reduce these risks. A quantitative approach was applied through work posture observation, the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire, and posture assessment using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method on three operators in a salt industry laboratory. NBM results indicated that the highest complaints occurred in the back, waist, shoulders, and lower limbs. REBA analysis identified the drying stage as the most high-risk activity (score 10, very high), followed by salt cooking (score 8, high), and fire stove preparation (score 6, medium). Based on these findings, interventions such as adjusting worktable height, using lifting aids, and implementing job rotation are recommended to reduce injury risk while improving operator productivity.
