Abstract

Anxiety and depression are commonly observed in populations with chronic physical illnesses. Treating symptoms of anxiety and depression in individuals with chronic physical illness can reduce psychological stress and improve overall physical health. One method to achieve a relaxation response is through the Relaxation Response Meditation Technique (RRMT) or Benson Relaxation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Benson Relaxation in reducing anxiety and depression levels in patients with chronic diseases. Literature sources were obtained through searches in PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and SpringerLink databases, published between 2017-2024. The keywords used for the search included Benson Relaxation, Relaxation Response Meditation Technique (RRMT), Relaxation Response, Chronic Disease, Chronic Illness, Anxiety, and Depression. The articles obtained were then analyzed for differences and duplications. A diagram for visual representation of how the search and selection of articles were made is shown in the PRISMA-SR flow diagram. Data extraction was done by creating a table. Researchers identified seven articles. The interventions used were Benson Relaxation Technique and Benson Relaxation Therapy Combined with Spiritual Therapy to reduce anxiety and depression in patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, patients with heart failure, chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis, elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis, hypertension, and elderly patients with kidney failure. Benson Relaxation has been proven effective in reducing anxiety and depression levels in patients with chronic illness.

Abstract

The bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito is a means of spreading dengue fever. Population density, uncontrolled waste growth, and lack of knowledge about environmental sanitation are the main causes of dengue fever transmission. To prevent dengue fever, the 3M Plus method involves the elimination of mosquito nests (PSN), which includes minimizing the drying of bathtubs, sealing water reservoirs, recycling used items, applying larvicide powder to water reservoirs, using mosquito repellent and mosquito nets while you sleep, and planting mosquito repellent plants. The purpose of this study is to ensure the level of public awareness and the way the people of Klari village, Karanggede Regency, prevent dengue disease. Methods: This study was carried out in Klari village, Karanggede district in September 2024 with a total of 78 respondents by purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with two types of instruments, including the level of knowledge and prevention efforts. Data analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed two variables with a p < value of 0.05 on the non-parametric test, namely age, education level, and occupation. Results: The analysis of the Chi-Square test produced a p value of 0.1055 > 0.05. Conclusion: There is no relationship between the level of knowledge and dengue prevention efforts in Klari village, Karanggede district.

Abstract

Childhood abuse and trauma can cumulatively become interpersonal stress in adulthood. Trauma that often occurs includes emotional abuse, physical violence, and other trauma. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a critical assessment to determine the research method used in a study so that the results obtained are reliable. The research article conducted by Malcom in 2017 entitled Childhood maltreatment and trauma are common and serious in body dysmorphic disorder. This critical appraisal needs to be done to assess the research conducted using the correct method and the results are reliable. The method used is the Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional Studies from JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) which consists of 8 question items, namely (1) inclusion criteria in the sample (2) Population description and demographic data (3) Risk factors and interventions (4) Valid measuring instruments (5) Confounding factors (6) Factors that influence variables (7) Measurement results (8) Statistical analysis. The results of the critical appraisal conducted in the article mention that it has many advantages such as the use of validated measuring instruments and appropriate statistical analysis, but there are inputs that can be used as considerations for further research, namely the control of confounding factors and limitations in the cross-sectional study design which only shows associative relationships.
