Abstract

Coating process of martensitic stainless steel 420 (SS 420) as the base material component of the steam turbine blade component uses an Electroless Ni-P coating process. This process is one of the solution coatingsthat applied to stainless steel as a substrate to improve corrosion resistance. The goal of this research is to get an idea and information about the effect of surface roughness and stirring speed on the characteristics of Electroless Ni-P layer. Experimental parameters in this research were variations of 0.044 μm, 0.056 μm, 0.101 μm, and 0.164 μm surface roughness and variations of 4.9 rpm, 11.3 rpm, and 21.3 rpm stirring speed. Results showed that the surface roughness and low stiring speed causes the grain distribution becomes more uniform, whichis shown by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) examination. Adhesion layer also increases along with increasing levels of surface roughness. The highest value of adhesion was 1.9 MPa at 0.164 μm and the lowest value of adhesion was 0.8 MPa at 0,044 μm.

Abstract

Investment is an investing activity on a company of aimed to obtain the return. One of the interesting investmentsfor investors is investing in the mining sector because of large amount of return obtained in a short time. Before choosing which stocks to be invested in the mining companies, investors need to look at the companyperformance to avoid the risk. The purposes of this study are to examine the investment potential and analyze theinfluence of financial ratios (CR, DER, EPS, ROE, TATO, ROA, PER, NPM) on stock returns in the mining sector. The object of this research is mining companies who are listed on index SRI-Kehati and Jakarta Islamic Index(JII) period 2010–2013 consistently. The method used was descriptive analysis to calculate Tobin‘s Q score tolook at potential investments. Panel data regression analysis was conducted to see the effect of financial ratios tostock return. The results show that PTBA and MEDC have high investment potential from 2010–2013. Becausethe company’s Tobin‘s Q score acquired above 1 for four consecutive years, while the explanatory variables havea positive and significant effect on stock returns is CR, EPS, ROA, and PER. PTBA is the highest average score ofCR, EPS, ROA, and PER compared to the other mining companies. Therefore, PTBA is the best choice of investmentfor investors, specifically in the mining sector.

Abstract

This study has compared the distribution of nutrients phosphate and nitrate concentrations in the inner Ambon Bay during two different seasons: Northwest and Southeast monsoon. The result showed that the nutrient concentrations in the Southeast monsoon were higher than those in the Northwest monsoon, both for phosphate and nitrate. The ranges of phosphate concentrations on the surface and near the bottom of the bay during the Northwest monsoon were 0.0471-0.0549 mg/L and 0.0549–0.1176 mg/L, while the ranges of nitrate concentrations were from undetected to 0.0976 mg/L on the surface, and 0.0956–0.5870 mg/L near the bottom of the bay. Meanwhile, the phosphate and nitrate concentration on the surface during the Southeast monsoon were 0.0495–0.0676 mg/L and 0.0247–0.4019 mg/L, while near the bottom the concentrations were 0.0495–0.1802 mg/L and 0.0247– 0.7944 mg/L. These results indicated that phosphate and nitrate concentrations in the inner Ambon Bay have exceeded the marine water standard quality, which can be categorized as polluted. High concentrations of phosphate and nitrate during Northwest monsoon could be caused by run-off from the mainland area that enters the bay trough the river. On the other hand, the enrichment of nutrients in the inner Ambon Bay during the Southeast monsoon could be dominated by the “nutrient-rich water mass” from Banda Sea that enters the inner Ambon Bay.

Abstract

Any deficiency of carotenoid in goldfish’ feeds can fade the color of the fish (Carassius auratus), especially in aquarium condition. The aim of this study was to explore other sources of carotenoid which is to replace the synthetic carotenoid already used. The fish were fed with different types of feed i.e. those without carotenoid source (A), those with synthetic astaxanthin (synthetic carotenoid) (B), Haematococcus pluvialis meal (C), and marigold petal meal (D). Lightness (L), chroma (C), hue (H), and the content of total carotenoids in the skin of fish were analyzed. The result showed that lightness was not significantly different among treatments. The best value of chroma was 35.59% (D), significantly different from those with other treatments and followed by 25.25% (B), 20.36% (C), and 19.98% (A). The highest content of total carotenoid in the skin was derived from B (59.55mg/kg), followed by D (24.79mg/kg), C (6.84mg/kg), and A (5.37mg/kg). This study suggests that marigold petal can be used as an alternative natural carotenoid source replacing synthetic carotenoid.
