Abstract

Increasingly sophisticated technological advances generate heat that needs to be managed properly to ensure the optimality of the operation of these components. One solution offered is the pool boiling cooling method, which has a high heat transfer coefficient. This research aims to study how the orientation angle of the boiling pool affects the heat transfer coefficient. This approach aims to improve cooling effectiveness, especially in the context of moving systems, where the influence of orientation angle is an important factor. In the research related to pool boiling, various orientation angles from 0° to 20° were used on aluminum-based fins in the form of inline pin fins. These fins have a circular shape with a size of 30 mm × 30 mm. The working fluid used in this study is HFE-7100, which has dielectric properties. This study was conducted with heat levels ranging from 10 to 50 W before reaching the Critical Heat Flux (CHF) value. The results show that the orientation angle has a significant impact on the heat transfer coefficient as well as the dynamics of bubble formation. The results also indicate that the greater the orientation angle, the smaller the area of spread and bubble growth that occurs. This decrease in bubble growth area results in an increase in surface temperature. With the circular pin fins test specimen, an increase in surface temperature was found in this study, when the angle θ = 10° amounted to 1.08℃, for the angle θ = 20° amounted to 2.37℃ under the condition of q'' = 55.56 kW/m2. While the highest average value of heat transfer coefficient occurs at angle θ = 0°, the value reaches 3.91 kW/m2∙K and decreases at angle θ = 10° by 3.79%, for angle θ = 20° by 6.56%

Abstract

Silica gel has been widely used as a dryer for food, medicine and various other purposes. Silica gel is basically a safe material, but because of its hydroscopic nature, silica gel is easily contaminated with dangerous materials. Apart from that, silica gel cannot decompose easily naturally, so using large amounts of silica gel will cause piles of silica gel waste. Therefore, efforts are being made to find replacement materials, one of which is using rice husk ash which can easily decompose naturally. This research aims to test the ability of rice husk ash as a substitute for silica gel. Tests used commercial silica gel (SG), silicon gel in non-woven geotextile bags (SG-N), and rice husk ash in non-woven geotextile bags (AS-N). In this study, AS-N was compared with SG and SG-N. The water vapor absorption test was carried out on a weight of 15 grams for 180 minutes. Each of the three samples was placed in a closed jar to avoid contamination with water vapor in the environment. The relative humidity of each jar was measured with a hygrometer. The jar lid was kept closed throughout the test. The results showed that SG, SG-N and AS-N reduced humidity by 23%, 22% and 24% respectively. Modeling with the Avrami equation is used to extrapolate the absorption results. The research results showed that 15 gram non-woven geotextile rice husk ash had superior water vapor absorption capabilities compared to silica gel and silica gel non-woven geotextiles. So it can be concluded that dryers with rice husk ash as the basic material can be used for needs such as clothes dryers, food dryers and other needs

Abstract

Air pollution is a condition caused by exhaust gas from motorized vehicles operating on the highway. To minimize greater air pollution, the government is making preventive efforts by carrying out periodic vehicle emission tests which are currently being carried out. carry out transport targeting vehicles. The research aims to determine the year of the vehicle that produces the dominant CO (carbon monoxide) and HC (hydrocarbon) exhaust emissions which were tested based on vehicle year from 2017 to 2022, with the type of gasoline-fueled vehicle, in this case the Daihatsu granmax. The method used is experimental using Manova analysis of 30 samples used with variations in data taken from testing CO and HC exhaust emissions on 30 samples with 5 vehicles each in each year of production. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the emission test results on sample data show the highest CO exhaust emissions in vehicles in 2017 and the lowest in vehicles in 2021, while the HC test results in vehicles in 2017 are the highest and continue to decline to the lowest point in vehicles in 2022, this provides a conclusion: Vehicles produced longer have the potential to produce high exhaust emissions, while vehicles produced younger do not cause exhaust emissions

Abstract

Fuel storage in storage tanks (SPBT) generally uses manual methods, causing inaccuracies and inefficiencies. To overcome this problem, this research focuses on developing a microcontroller-based automatic measuring instrument with a PING ultrasonic sensor. Manual methods are often prone to human error, while these automated tools are designed to improve measurement accuracy and efficiency. By using a PING ultrasonic sensor, this tool can measure liquid levels with a higher degree of accuracy, reducing the potential for error. This automated process enables real-time monitoring, with measurement results directly displayed on the monitor or LCD. The use of this method also allows measurements based on cylindrical tank type, increasing operational flexibility. The research results show that this tool is more efficient than manual methods, minimizing errors and increasing information availability. Evaluation of the entire system shows that the desired fuel oil stock monitoring system can provide adequate performance, as well as ensure stock maintenance is maintained properly. However, there is an average error of about 0.11% in the tank volume measurements, which is caused by slight curvature in the tank structure. In conclusion, the use of this technology in SPBT is expected to increase fuel management efficiency, reduce operational costs, and provide information on fuel availability accurately and quickly. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution to the development of more effective storage tank monitoring and management systems

Abstract

One of the most important aspects of preventing illegal usage of firearms is safe storage. An inventive way to guarantee that only authorized owners can access the firearms is to incorporate fingerprint technology into the design of electric firearm storage systems. The use of fingerprint technology to increase the security of gun storage is desperately needed. However, issues with the finger's health, such as stains, cuts, and dampness, can impair the accuracy of the detection. This study employs a quantitative methodology using five fingerprint detection situations to test the accuracy of the system. The Arduino ESP was used as the foundation for the system implementation throughout the nine months that the research was conducted at the Kodiklatad Poltekad Electronics Laboratory. According to the test results, the system has 100% accuracy in identifying five different fingerprint detecting scenarios. But limitations are implied by the system's incapacity to identify damp, damaged, or dusty fingertips. Consequently, further thought must be given to these circumstances in order to improve system reliability. The design of an electric gun storage unit using Arduino ESP-based fingerprint technology has the potential to increase the security of gun storage, but more work is needed to address some issues that limit detection accuracy

Abstract

A single hectare of oil palms may yield 10 tons of fronds annually, with young oil palms producing 40–56 fronds and mature oil palms producing 40–48 fronds. One kind of solid debris that comes from making palm oil is called palm oil fronds. A method is required to lessen palm frond waste because substantial volumes of it will still need to degrade. Waste palm fronds are reduced in size and broken down more quickly with the assistance of a chopping machine. But for slicing palm frond trash, the frond machines that are now in use are not the best. The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether adding more blades to a chopping machine's cutting knife can enhance the chopping process. Two designs with 19 and 26 blades were manufactured and tested for the research, and the results were compared with the cutting knife design from the prior study, which had 24 blades. According to the test results, adding additional blades to the cutting knife will improve the machine's effective capacity by 14.22% and decrease the size of waste palm fronds and leaves, allowing the machine to operate more efficiently. In addition, reducing the size of palm fronds with more knives can make them easier to break down

Abstract

TThe manual measurement of materials using pneumatic systems for inspections remains prevalent, posing challenges in meeting the demands and speed of modern production processes. To address this, there is a critical need for an automated inspection tool capable of generating a significant number of inspection inputs. This research objectives to design and implement an automatic thickness inspection system, employing pneumatic technology and inductive proximity sensors. The study adopts an experimental research design, systematically progressing through literature review, algorithm design, PLC programming, and comprehensive testing. The pneumatic system, known for its high response speed and durability, is capable of accurately measuring material thickness and sorting items with precision. The integration of inductive proximity sensors enhances the system's efficiency in detecting both metallic and non-metallic objects. The research findings reveal a system effectiveness of 95.8% in the initial test and 91.7% in the subsequent test. Notably, deviations in the Ø12 sensor are identified in detecting NG minus material. Despite this, the system's overall effectiveness surpasses the 90% threshold, meeting stringent standard criteria. The study concludes with insights into the identified deviations and underscores the system's effectiveness in meeting high-standard criteria. Recommendations for improvement include modifications to the stopper or proximity sensor position, sensor recalibration, continuous monitoring, and material path separation

Abstract

Quality improvement is necessary to overcome the occurrence of defective products during the production cycle. The occurrence of defective products is difficult to avoid. Therefore, the Sugar Factory (SG) business unit at PT XYZ began to implement quality control for sugar production. Based on these events, an analysis of quality measurement is carried out through this research. The methods used in this research are control chart, fishbone diagrams, and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA). The results of the control map measurement using the p-chart and u-chart show that there is no sugar production process that is out of control. Although nothing is out of control, it is also necessary to analyze it using a fishbone diagram to determine the cause of the defects that occur. The results of the measurements with FMEA can be known sub-factors that have the highest RPN, namely negligence of operations, poor sugar cane sorting, changes in production schedules, incomplete repair areas, and poorly organized layouts. From the results of data processing, it can be seen that quality control needs to be carried out by the company. One of them is by making standard operating procedures (SOP) related to the sugar processing process. In addition, the raw materials for making sugar also need to be considered, so that the process will produce sugar with better quality

Abstract

Passenger boats are a means of transportation that is used to transport passengers to a destination. One of them is a boat for passengers to visit the religious tour of Sheikh Mudzakir's grave. The religious tourism location of Sheikh Mudzakir's grave is located about 2 km north of Blekok Island. However, this passenger boat still relies on fuel oil as fuel to drive the passenger boat's combustion engine. Research on electric boats was carried out by several students at Semarang University. This electric boat uses solar panel technology installed on it to harvest solar energy and convert it into electricity which is stored in batteries to move the boat. This electric boat uses a 3 Phase 1 HP 4 Pole electric motor that uses solar charge control and an inverter as a converter from 12 V DC to 380 V AC. Using a 3 Phase Electric Motor requires a large amount of electricity, because it requires electricity that must be converted to voltage. high, will result in high loss, so that the efficiency of battery use is relatively wasteful. The aim of this research is to carry out tests using a 4 kW 72 Volt BLDC Motor as an alternative solution to replace previous research which used a 3 Phase 1 HP Motor on an electric passenger boat. The results show that the motor rotation of a 4 kW 72 Volt BLDC motor tends to be greater than using a 3 Phase 1 HP electric motor and a 9 HP fuel engine, where previous research showed that the speed of an electric boat can only reach a maximum speed of 4.4 Knots at high mode gas level. , while using a 4 kW 72 Volt BLDC motor it can reach a speed of 8 Knots, which is a huge improvement. Very suitable for using a 4 kW 72 Volt BLDC motor on a 1GT electric boat
