Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an interaction between the Inquiry and Discovery learning models with learning styles on the mathematical critical thinking skills of students of the STKIP Al Maksum Science Education study program in basic mathematics courses. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2021-2022 academic year with a population of 109 students and a sample of 80 students. The research instrument used was in the form of mathematical critical thinking ability test questions. The research method used is a correlational method with a quantitative approach. This study used a quasi-experimental design. The research data were processed and analyzed using the 2x2 ANOVA statistical test. The results of the study show that there is an interaction between the Inquiry and Discovery learning models with learning styles on the mathematical critical thinking skills of Science Education students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematical concept understanding skills through the Direct Instruction learning model based on multimedia presentations. This research is an experimental study with a research design of One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The data collection technique used a test of students' mathematical understanding of five questions and data analysis was carried out using prerequisite tests (normality test and homogeneity test) and hypothesis testing (t test). The average understanding of students' mathematical concepts has increased in each item based on the pretest and posttest questions given. It can be concluded that there is an increase in the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts through the Direct Instruction learning model based on multimedia presentations.

Abstract

This study examines the improvement of student learning outcomes using the Active, Creative, Effective, and Fun learning model. The application of the Active, Creative, Effective, and Fun learning model is closely related to other learning models. Active, Creative, Effective, and Fun learning models are helpful and can create meaningful learning. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR). This CAR research was conducted in two cycles. The research sample amounted to 22 people who were not taken at random. The data was obtained by using tests, namely the initial test, the first cycle test, and the second cycle test. They are calculating student completeness using the formula for individual mastery and classical wholeness and calculating the increase in learning outcomes using the N-Gain Normalized formula. Applying the Active, Creative, Effective, and Fun learning model can improve student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects as the subject of probability theory.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the student's interest in learning in developing the potential for mathematical understanding which is still low. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between learning frequency and students' mathematical abilities. This study uses a survey research design with a descriptive correlational method. The data in this study are the results of a study of documentation and questionnaires conducted on students in mathematics. Based on the results of the correlation hypothesis test, the relationship was 36.7%. It can be concluded that the frequency of learning with the mathematical ability of class X science students has a positive weak correlation. This means that there is a relationship between the frequency of learning with the mathematical ability of class X science students. Where if the frequency of student learning is high, the higher the student's mathematical ability.

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is important owned by students’ because a lack of ability of mathematical communication can lead to a lack of understanding of the mathematical concept or mathematical problem. Preliminary observation conducted by researchers in SMP Negeri 3 Kisaran found that the students aren’t able to answer. It is clearly seen in the student’s answer sheet that the student’s mathematical communication ability is low lack of student’s mathematical communication ability of SMP N 3 Kisaran is so related to the learning process which has been done by the mathematics teacher. To fix it is necessary to develop an approach to learning that is more effective, creative, and fun. On this basis, the authors try to apply cooperative learning Control Class type to improve mathematical communication ability. This research is quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental research with a quantitative approach. The conclusion found that there is an increase in students’ mathematical communication ability taught by cooperative learning cooperative script type at SMP Negeri 3 Kisaran.
