Indonesian Psychological Research aims at a broad area of questions from theoretical and methodological domains of psychology, as well as applications of psychology to everyday life. We propose to publish original articles, reviews, actualities, preliminary methodological notes etc. Our goal is to provide psychologists and authors from related science fields the platform for the public presentation of their research findings, opinions or impressions about recent literature, and for another to offer the opportunity to acquaint the professional community with these findings and views. Indonesian Psychological Research is a journal that contains articles from both quantitative and qualitative research related to the field of Psychology which emphasises the novelty and originality of studies, including the areas of Islamic Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and other related fields.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan social support dan self compassion terhadap optimism mahasiswa akhir yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi di masa pandemi COVID-19. Pada penelitian kuantitatif korelasional ini digunakan tiga alat ukur untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu skala social support, skala self compassion, dan skala optimism. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Subjek berjumlah 357 mahasiswa dari total populasi sebanyak 5080 mahasiswa yang ditentukan dengan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling. Metode analisis yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan secara positif antara social support dengan optimism (p = 0.000 dan t = 4.379). Kemudian pada self compassion  dengan optimism memiliki hubungan yang signifikan secara positif (p = 0.000 dan t = 8.509). Secara keseluruhan atau bersama-sama social support, dan self compassion dengan optimism berhubungan secara signifikan (p = 0.000 dan F = 113.746). Terakhir variabel optimism dipengaruhi/dijelaskan oleh variabel social support, dan self compassion sebesar 39.1% serta sisanya sebesar 60.9% dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini.

Abstract

Self-esteem can affect many things in life, one of which is choosing a life partner. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and anxiety choosing a life partner in early adult women who experiences a quarter life crisis. The research method used is quantitative correlation by using the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale which has been adapted into Indonesian by Azwar (2019) and the scale for choosing a life partner based on aspects of anxiety according to Nevid (2018). The number of respondents is 110 women of early adulthood. The data analysis technique used is the Product Moment analysis technique from Karl Pearson. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between self-esteem and anxiety about choosing a life partner in adult women who experienced a quarter life crisis with r = -0.245 and p = 0.01. Minimize anxiety by increasing self-esteem by developing good relationship with others.

Abstract

The objectives of the study are to understand career decision-making in final-year psychology students at the state university of Malang, to understand self-efficacy in final-year students at state universities in Malang, and to determine if self-efficacy and career satisfaction are influenced in final-year psychology students at the state university of Malang. This study employs a quantitative, descriptive methodology using scale-shaped instruments for data collection, which are communicated via Google Forms. The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), created by Schwarzer and Jerusalem, is used to gauge self-efficacy (1995). Heru (2015) developed a test to assess career decision-making based on the Miller and Tiedeman hypothesis (Sharf, 1992). (2015). One hundred twenty people made up the study's samples. Purposive sampling is a sampling technique. Simple regression analysis is used in data analysis approaches. R2 = 37.7% of the data in this study's results were gathered, with a p-value of 0.000. It is impossible to claim that self-efficacy influences career decision-making in a way that accounts for 37.7% of it, while other factors that have not been the subject of research impact the other 62.3 percent.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between empathy and environmental attitudes towards the pro-environmental behavior in late adolescents. The study method used is a correlational quantitative method involving 273 late adilescents aged 18-21 years. The scale for measuring pro-environmental behavior is the General Ecologycal Scale. To measure empathy, the Basic Empathy Scale is used. The measurement of environmental attitudes variable uses the Environmetal Attitude Scale. The results of this study indicate that empathy has no relationship with pro-environmental behavior in late adolescents, while environmental attitudes have a significant relationship with pro-environmental behavior in late adolescents. Then empathy and environmental attitudes have a relationship with late adolescents pro-environmental behavior with an effective contribution of 16.5%, while the other 83.5% is ecplained by other variables not examined.

Abstract

Organization needed energetic and dedicated employees, employees who are engaged with their work. But some surveys show that engagement among employee specially millennials tend to be decreased. One of the factors can contributed toward work engagement is workplace friendship. This study aims to examine whether workplace friendship contribute toward work engagement among employee in the industrial area of ​​West Java. The participants involved were 409 employees in the industrial area of ​​West Java (Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, and Bandung Raya) with a minimum working period of one year or more. The instruments used in this study were the Workplace Friendship Scale (WFS) to measure workplace friendships with a reliability of 0. 687 and The Utrecht Work Engagement (UWES) to measure work engagement with a reliability of 0.929. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression analysis using the SPSS version 26 program. The results show that workplace friendship contribute toward work engagement among employee in the industrial area of West Java

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of social support and self-esteem on subjective well-being of high school students in Bandung city. The author used a quantitative method with 455 respondents of high school student in Bandung. The instruments are Student Social Support Scale by Nolten (1994) modified by Malecki and Elliott (1999) to measure the social support of parents and peers, The Three Esteem Dimensions compiled by Stets and Burke (2014) modified by Adiba (2020) to measure self-esteem, the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) which have been modified by Adzhani (2019) to measure subjective well-being. The data analysis technique is linear regression and multiple regression. This research found that: 1) There is a significant effect of social support and self-esteem on subjective well-being; 2) There is a significant effect of parental social support on subjective well-being; 3) There is a significant effect of peer social support on subjective well-being; 4) There is a significant effect of self-esteem on subjective well-being.

Abstract

Adolescence is a time of transition that is emotionally turbulent. A key component of adolescents' daily lives is happiness. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how optimism and religiosity relate to adolescent happiness. The method used is descriptive quantitative. Research respondents totalled 105 people with an age range of 13 to 18 years at MA PP Darul Hikmah Mojokerto. The optimism scale, religiosity scale and happiness scale were modified and used as the research scales. Multiple regression analysis methods were used to analyze the data. The findings indicated a partially positive relationship between optimism and happiness, with a sig value of 0.000 to 0.05. The relationship between religiosity and happiness is also partially significant, with a sig value of 0.000 to 0.05. While optimism and religiosity have a simultaneous role on happiness with a sig value of 0.000 <0.05, the R square value is 0.421 which means 42.1% there is a role between optimism and religiosity on happiness.
