Abstract

Coping strategy among informal sector workers of micro-enterprises is motivated by the problem of workers in the informal sector that generally has very low-income levels. In addition, micro-scale informal sector workers also do not have social protection and are vulnerable to work safety such as tire patching, road vendors, roadside stalls, and parking attendants. This study aims to describe the coping strategy undertaken by workers in the informal micro-enterprises sector which includes characteristics, emotional and problems focused coping. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with case studies of tire patch workers, food stall waiters, and parking attendants. The informants in this study consisted of 3 (three) main informants and 3 (three) supporting informants. Data collection techniques use interview, observation, and documentation study. The results of the study use qualitative data analysis. Data were tested through the perseverance of observation, the extension of participation, triangulation, and reference material. The results showed that the coping strategy undertaken by informal sector workers of micro-enterprises in handling the problem was not good enough. The emotional focused coping aspect carried out by the informants was more accepting / resigned, thus affecting the problem-focused coping, i.e. there was no planning to find a solution to the problem, less initiative. The action is more about asking for help, borrowing money, that does not solve the problems they are experiencing.

Abstract

Poverty is still inherent in every aspect of human life, so it requires comprehensive, integral, and sustainable countermeasures. Indonesia has made a national commitment to eradicate poverty in the context of implementing sustainable development, where the government and all state apparatuses together with various elements of society bear the primary responsibility for achieving sustainable development and simultaneously alleviating poverty. International and national commitments strongly emphasize the importance of social security, especially as a strategy to deal with poverty in a systemic, institutionalized and integrated manner. The development of a social security system program to support the achievement of people's welfare needs to be seen as an effort to restore the community's ability to achieve their own welfare. In Indonesia, the development of a social network system as an alternative to improving people's welfare can be done by revamping the mechanism for implementing a social assistance program that is not centralized, which accommodates the diversity of local characteristics and demands as well as the integration and strong relationship between the management of economic development fields and the field of social welfare. In addition, the social security system needs to be strengthened as an infrastructure of social capital for the community towards a stable life.

The existence of Puskesos provides convenience and time effectiveness for beneficiary families due to the one-stop service. This one-stop service proves that there is coordination and communication between related agencies. This collaboration is supported by the commitment of various parties, such as stakeholders in Bandung Regency from local stakeholders at the village level to Puskesos officials themselves. However, in infrastructure aspect, some beneficiary families felt they were not satisfied with infrastructure, such as the comfort when they were about to submit a complaint.
