Abstract

The development of urban agriculture through hydroponic technology is one solution toaddress land limitations and the increasing public demand for fresh and hygienic vegetables.This study aims to analyze the implementation of agribusiness subsystems in a hydroponicvegetable business based on Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) in Medan City with a case studyof the MSME "Uda Sarah". This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design todeeply understand agribusiness management practices in micro-scale hydroponic businesses.Data collection was conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews with businessowners, documentation, and literature studies. Data analysis used the interactive analysismodel of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña which includes data condensation, datapresentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the agribusiness system in theMSME "Uda Sarah" has been running through four main subsystems, namely the upstreamsubsystem, the farming subsystem (on-farm), the downstream or post-harvest subsystem,and the supporting service subsystem. The application of NFT technology supported byprecision nutrient management and a gradual planting system (rolling system) is able tomaintain production continuity and business efficiency. However, limited access to financing,business legality, and digital marketing optimization remain challenges in developinghydroponic businesses on a MSME scale in urban areas.

Abstract

Mung beans are one of the important Leguminosae plants in Indonesia, ranking third after soybeans and peanuts. Green bean farming in Riau Province still faces challenges in soil fertility due to the presence of Ultisol (PMK) soil, which has low organic matter, low nutrient content, and is acidic in nature. Fertilization is one of the methods that can be used to improve soil fertility. Trichocompost is an organic compost fertilizer made from organic materials and contains the antagonistic fungus Trichoderma sp., which functions as a decomposer of organic materials. Along with the development of agricultural technology, natural liquid organic fertilizers have also been developed, which can be used to help overcome agricultural production obstacles. Liquid organic fertilizer is a solution resulting from the decomposition of organic materials derived from plant residues, animal manure, and human waste, containing more than one essential nutrient. The use of organic fertilizers, both solid and liquid, reduces the use of inorganic fertilizers, thereby helping the soil to revitalize its ability as a fertile growing medium, which is expected to support a sustainable agricultural system. The research results showed that trichocompost and liquid organic fertilizers had a significant impact on all observation parameters, namely plant height, number of productive branches, flowering age, number of pods per plant, wet weight of seeds per plot, dry weight of seeds per plot, weight of 100 seeds, and root volume of mung bean plants. The best results were obtained using Trichocompost fertilizer and Supermas with doses of 90 kg/plot and 3 cc/l, respectively

Abstract

Soil quality is an important indicator in supporting agricultural productivity and sustainable land management. This study aims to analyze soil quality in several types of land use in Nggaha Ori Angu District, East Sumba Regency. The study was conducted using a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach at 16 sample points representing the use of rice fields, gardens, fields, shrubs, and savannahs. The parameters analyzed included soil permeability, bulk density, soil texture, soil depth, cation exchange capacity (CEC), organic C, soil pH, and total soil respiration. The results of the study in Nggaha Ori Angu District showed that the soil permeability value ranged from 4.31-17.35 cm/hour with a soil bulk density value between 0.96-1.16 g/cm3. The soil texture was dominated by clay criteria, then silt, and sandy loam with soil depths varying from 10 cm to >50 cm. The pH ranged from 7.17 to 7.95, with a soil CEC of 1.74 to 24.34 cmol(+)/kg and soil organic carbon of 1.56 to 3.00%. Total soil respiration was 0.04–0.84 mg C-CO₂g/day. The Soil Quality Index (SIC) scores ranged from 2.75 to 3.25, categorized as moderate to slightly high. The highest SIC value was found in plantation land use at 3.09, categorized as moderate, while the lowest SIC value was found in shrubland land use at 2.83, categorized as moderate. The average SIC value in Nggaha Ori Angu District was 2.97, categorized as moderate.
