Lontar Journal of Community Health is a double-blind peer-reviewed national journal that focused on public health practices related to preventive and promotive efforts that aimed to enhance the degree of public health through the results of its scientific application. The frequency is quarterly from 2019 and deals with all aspects of Public Health including epidemiology, biostatistics, health education, and behavioral science, health policy and administration, environmental health, occupational health and safety, public health nutrition, and sexual and reproductive health. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease requiring continuous care and sustainable self-management. It also needs adequate family support to prevent acute complications and reduce chronic complications. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between family support with the dietary management of DM patients in the working area of Pasir Panjang Health Center Kupang City Year 2017. The research method was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all new cases of diabetes collected from January to July 2017 of which a sample of 53 people selected using a random sampling technique. The results showed that the appreciation support p = 0,000 < p = 0,05, instrumental support p = 0,000 < p = 0,05, informational support p = 0,000 < p = 0,05 and emotional support p = 0,000 < p = 0,05 were associated with the dietary rules behavior of the diet of DM patients. Health center needs to involve the family in health promotion programs related to dietary management for DM patients.

Abstract

Leprosy is a disease caused by The mycobacterium leprae which has a 2-5 year incubation period that attack The skin, peripheral nerves, upper respirator mucosa and eyes. The number of leprosy cases in Kupang experienced fluctuatuions where Three were 63 cases in 2013, 61 cases in 2014, 74 cases in 2015 and 66 cases in 2016. The purpose of this Study has to analyze the riskf ractors associated with the incidence of leprosy in Kupang in 2018. The type of research used was an analytical survei using the Case Control desing. The Population in this Study were 66 people, with a Case sampel of 23 people and a Control sampel of 46 people, a total sampel of 69 people. The sampling technique used was simpel random sampling. The statistical test used was the Chi Square Test. The Results of the analysis showed that room temperatur factors had a significal relationship with the incidence leprosy with a P value of 0.002 (P<0,05) while knowledge, personal hygiene, length of contact, humidity, occupancy density did not have signifikan relationship with the incidence of leprosy. Suggestions for health institutions is that the should provide more comprehensive and sustainable education to the community in order to increase the knowledge about leprosy and the community should participate in conseling about leprosy and be able to participate in the prevention of leprosy.

Abstract

Aesesa Sub-district is one of the Subdistricts in Nagekeo District that has high nutritional problems and occurs every year.Nutrition problems that occur are influenced by several factors, namely mother's knowledge of nutrition, diet of children under five, and family income.This study aims to determine what factors are related to the nutritional status of children under five years in the working area of Puskesmas Danga, Aesesa Sub-district, Nagekeo Regency in 2016.This research was conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Danga, Aesesa Sub District, Nagekeo District.The study period starts from December 2016 to August 2017.This research method is analytic survey by using cross sectional study design.Sample in this research is mother who have toddler which amounted 93 people. Sampling method using systematic random sampling technique.Instrument of data collecting by using questioner and analyzed by univariat and bivariat.The results showed that there was a correlation between mother's knowledge (ρ = 0,003), diet (ρ = 0,000), and family income (ρ = 0,029) with nutritional status in toddler in working area of Puskesmas Danga Aesesa Sub-district of Nagekeo Regency 2016.Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between mother's knowledge about nutrition, eating pattern of children under five, and income of family with nutritional status at under five years in working area of Puskesmas Danga Aesesa District of Nagekeo Regency.

Abstract

Malaria is the infection disease wich is caused by parasite genus plasmodium which is infected eritrosit. Kabukarudi Health Center has the highest cases of malaria in West Sumba. Malaria on 2015 were approximately 240 cases of which most cases happend in children under five years old. The research aims to to know the effect of nutrient, application of repellent and the usage of mosquito nets in Kabukarudi Health Center in Lamboya District of West Sumba. The research was case control study with the sample of 45 children infected by malaria and 45 uninfected children. The research instrument used was questionnaire and data were analyzed by Chi-Square. The result showed that the nutrient status had no effect on Malaria (p=0,383; OR=2), while repellent application (p=0, 007., OR=4,047) and mosquito net usage (p=0, 000; OR=6,484), influenced malaria cases in children. Health workers need to deliver information about the benefits of repellent and usage of mosquito nets to communities, especially to mother to help prevent malaria in children.

Abstract

The program for routine insecticide-treated bed nets is one of the government's efforts to reduce malaria morbidity. The research objective was to describe the effectiveness of the routine insecticide-treated bednet distribution program in the context of reducing malaria morbidity in Oesapa Health Center, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City in 2018. Descriptive survey research with a qualitative approach. Informants in this study amounted to 3 people and 65 families as observation samples. The research instrument uses interview guidelines. The results of the study show 1) Input; health workers and facilities were limited (cars and motorbikes), particularly in distributing the nets to pregnant women, infants, children under five, and children. 2) Process; The program was planned by The Health Office of Kupang City while implementation and evaluation was taken by health workers from Oesapa Health Center. Barriers were related to low accessibility in reaching the targeted house in need, inadequate number of health staff, and unavailability of special facility needed to distribute the nets 3) Output; A total of 188 nets was distributed to the target according to the program goal. Based on observations from 65 households that became the study sample, 63 households used and treated kalambu with insecticides until 2019. The distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets was considered ineffective. Health workers and facilities need to be provided adequately to distribute the nets and monitoring is necessary to guarantee the distribution reaching the target.
