Abstract

The focus of this study is to explore the relationship between humans and nature from the metaphysical perspective of Alfred North Whitehead. This is based on the fact that the living environment is not doing well. Humans are faced with the problem of the ecological crisis. Technological developments and advances have changed the pattern of relationships between humans and the environment. Humans use the environment not only to support their lives, but also to gain profits and fulfill their ambitions. Therefore, in this article, the author tries to explore the ideal relationship between humans and the environment from the perspective of process philosophy developed by Whitehead. From there it was discovered that all entities are always changing, including human lifestyles. This needs to encourage humans to change their relationship patterns with the environment so that nature remains sustainable and can provide benefits for future generations. Humans need to be aware that they are an integral part of their environment and that the environment has an intrinsic value within itself that every human being needs to respect. The research method used is a qualitative method in the form of a literature study. The author looks at Whitehead's thoughts in his book and sees their connection to the theme of this article with the help of other appropriate library sources.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) has opened significant opportunities for accessing information but also poses serious threats in the form of misinformation and disinformation, raising the question: how can truth be ensured amidst the overwhelming flood of information humans face daily? In this context, Rene Descartes' method of doubt, with his concept of the evil spirit, offers a relevant reflective approach. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using literature review techniques and critical reflection on primary and secondary sources. The concept of the evil spirit is a hypothetical scenario depicting an intelligent and malevolent entity capable of deceiving human senses and beliefs. This concept serves as a psychological and epistemological foundation in Descartes' method of doubt, enabling radical skepticism of sensory experiences. The study finds that Descartes' method of doubt not only supports the pursuit of philosophical truth but is also relevant as a critical tool for filtering information and addressing epistemological challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

The focus of this writing explores the transformation towards an open society in the context of Indonesia based on Francis Fukuyama's perspective on liberalism. This research investigates the extent to which Fukuyama's perspective on liberalism can serve as a foundation for the transformation of Indonesian society. It is hoped that Fukuyama's thoughts on liberalism provide a critical insight into the relevance and contribution of these ideas to the transformation of Indonesian society. The implementation of liberal ideas in Indonesia, in my opinion, requires a lengthy process. Society continues to linger in a state of stagnation, feeling comfortable in their own complacency. The community remains shackled and bound, with freedom of movement being severely restricted. Perhaps the ideas and concepts of Fukuyama can have a significant impact in the Indonesian context, despite facing certain challenges and obstacles, meaning there is movement towards individual and collective well-being gradually, step by step. The methodology of this academic work involves a literature review and the results obtained from attending a seminar on the philosophy of liberalism. The findings of this research provide a mapping of the results of the analysis and its implications for the future of Indonesia, along with recommendations to optimize the potential towards the desired open society.

Abstract

This research focuses on the theme of the relationship between violative dimensions and politics. The aim is to confirm one viewpoint stating that politics has violative dimensions. By that, it means that politics is susceptible to violence, manipulation, intrigues, dirty strategies, systematic injustice, confusion, or chaos. Politics never truly escapes from these violative dimensions involving the aforementioned aspects. Anomalies tend to occur in politics. The methodology used in this research is literature review. The author then correlates this viewpoint with the implementation of politics in Indonesia in 2024. The author uses various issues or violations that occur in the implementation of politics in Indonesia as a measure to determine the validity of this viewpoint. This research finds that this viewpoint is undoubtedly valid. Violative dimensions can be said to be a vital or integral part of politics. They are like two sides of the same coin, coexisting. In other words, this viewpoint is a commonly accepted opinion that can be justified by everyone.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the views of William Ockham and Kurt Gödel regarding the concepts of being and non-being in relation to the interplay between science and religion. Using a comparative method with a philosophical approach, the study analyzes the contributions of Ockham's Razor principle and Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem to metaphysical discussions. The findings reveal that both thinkers advocate minimizing non-empirical assumptions in scientific explanations to maintain simplicity and consistency. The implications of this study indicate that the involvement of supernatural entities in scientific explanations can lead to inconsistencies and a loss of scientific essence. The conclusions emphasize the importance of epistemological boundaries in integrating science and religion.

The sources used come from library data, so the writing of this article is a form of library research. The author's purpose in discussing the theme of dialogal relationality in this article is to show that differences in the life of Indonesian society can be bridged with the dialog of understanding differences can be accepted by each other. Armada Riyanto's philosophy of relationality centers on the idea that humans are essentially relational beings. In addition, Riyanto uses four key concepts to explain his philosophy of relationality: I, Text, Other, and Phenomenon. In the context of religious plurality in Indonesia, dialogal relationality plays an important role in building effective and harmonious communication between religious communities because it emphasizes the importance of intersubjective relations that prioritize equality and openness in human interactions.

Abstract

The focus of this paper is to present the meaning of existentialism according to Søren Kierkegaard in relation to today's contemporary digital lifestyle. Kierkegaard emphasizes individual existence in personal choice and authentic life. This can provide a quality contribution for humans to examine the implications of the digital era on their human experience. The digital age sets aside the fact that humans are driven almost entirely by the virtual reality of social media and digital connectivity. Humans are faced with the challenge of how to protect their identity in an increasingly complex world. Digital platforms can both obscure and illuminate human existence anxiety. It can affect the human self-concept and the dimensions that exist within it. This paper aims to generate an understanding of how Kirkegaard's philosophy of existentialism can navigate the existential dilemma that the digital era brings to humans today. The method used in this paper is a qualitative approach through literature study. The author specifically explores writings about individuals in Kierkegaard's perspective and other supporting sources. The author finds that human efforts to interpret their existence determine the direction of human life. Connectivity in the digital era cannot completely thwart humans from giving meaning to their lives.

Abstract

Jacques Derrida’s hermeneutical thought offers an innovative a methodological framework for interpreting the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad. Through the lens of deconstruction, Derrida posits that the meaning of texts must always be questioned and revised, thus preventing texts from ever reaching stability or final truth. In the context of the Prophet’s hadith, a deconstructive approach is necessary to open up a more dynamic and contextual space for interpretation. One of its applications is to break the stagnation or rigidity in the interpretation of hadith texts, which are often understood only literally. This study will present Jacques Derrida’s hermeneutical thought and its application in interpreting the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The article employs a descriptive-analytical library research study with a hermeneutic approach, examining how Derrida’s hermeneutical thought can be applied to understanding the hadith texts. This writing is expected to expand the dimensions and horizons of interpretation with a critical and contextual perspective. For example, the prophetic tradition regarding the origin of woman from man’s rib, often understood literally, can be deconstructed to reveal its deeper symbolic meaning.

Furthermore, Third, the influence of postmodernism on social transformation includes relativism of truth which is defined as an attitude to state that truth is relative and depends on a particular context, view, or situation. Identity fragmentation is defined as an attitude that refers to the separation or division of aspects of individual identity, especially in cultural and social contexts. Decentralization of culture means the spread of a culture from the center to all corners of society. Therefore, postmodernism can have both positive and negative implications for social transformation depending on the approach chosen.
