IJAL (Indonesian Journal of Academic Librarianship) is the official journal of APPTIS JATIM (Asosiasi Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Islam Jawa Timur). This is a peer review open access journal dedicated to publish high quality research articles in academic librarianship. IJAL publishes articles that focus on the information profession. IJAL serves as a vehicle for authors to present analytical essays (conceptual paper) and research findings (research paper) on their concerns in an information profession facing many challenges. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of productivity and collaboration of the authors. This research was conducted in the journal Bulletin of Scientific Contribution, Faculty of Geology, UNPAD during the 2015-2019 range. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method with bibliometric analysis. For data processing by recording and classifying the number of articles and authors, the level of collaboration and the distribution of productive authors. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the level of author collaboration and author productivity in the journal Bulletin of Scientific Contribution, Faculty of Geology, Padjadjaran University during the 2015-2019 range has published as many as 9 journal publications with an average of 10 articles published in each volume with the language used mostly using Indonesian. The number of authors who contributed to the Bulletin of Scientific Contribution journal is 199 authors and some of the authors are collaborative authors consisting of 3 authors. As for the level of collaboration of the authors is equal to 0.95. This illustrates that the writing of scientific articles in this journal is done more collaboratively than individually.

Abstract

Effective communication is the backbone of all human interactions, especially in service contexts like libraries. This article explores how good and effective communication improves library services, focusing on a case study at the Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo Library. Through qualitative descriptive research methods that include observation, interviews, and documentation, the results show the crucial role of effective communication in improving service standards at the Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo Library, considering theories, especially Diniaty's approach, namely the importance of communication in changing user attitudes and behavior. Good communication between librarians and users, especially in rule enforcement, significantly improves compliance with regulations. Apart from that, the dedication of librarians to providing optimal service solutions, in line with the Wijayanti concept, is further strengthened by effective communication in managing services in the library. Recommendations for improving service quality include expanding efforts to strengthen effective communication among all library stakeholders through training and developing communication skills for staff, which is expected to create a better communication environment and, in turn, improve user experience in using library services.

Abstract

In the digital era, the role of school librarians has evolved, making practical communication skills a key component in providing quality services and supporting the learning process. This research examines the urgency of interpersonal communication skills in maximizing the potential of librarians in the library work environment at SMAN 1 Ponorogo. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with 3 school librarians, 5 teachers, and 10 students, and analysis of related documents. The research results show that librarians' interpersonal communication skills play an essential role in Increasing students' reading interest and visits to the library, Facilitating effective collaboration with teachers in supporting the curriculum, Increasing service efficiency and resource management, and Creating a conducive learning environment in the library. The main findings reveal that librarians with good interpersonal communication skills can better understand the information needs of students and teachers, overcome obstacles in using information technology in libraries, and play an active role in school literacy programs. This research concludes that developing the interpersonal communication skills of librarians at SMAN 1 Ponorogo needs to be a priority to optimize library functions in supporting the school's vision and mission. Recommendations include regular communication training, mentoring programs, and performance evaluations that include aspects of interpersonal communication.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of user education in optimizing the use of library services, especially in higher education. The objectives, levels, and evaluation of user education programs are described in detail. The obstacles in integrating this program into the curriculum are also discussed. A case study at the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Central Library shows the positive impact of user education on improving library services, including increasing the number of visitors and book loans. In conclusion, user education is a strategic program to increase user independence in utilizing library resources optimally.

Abstract

Perpustakaan diseluruh Indonesia saat ini mengalami banyak penurunan pengunjung akibat terkena dampak Pandemi COVID-19. Hampir semua layanan perpustakaan ditutup karena harus menyesuaikan dengan kebijakan physical distancing dimana harus menjaga jarak dan menghindari kegiatan yang mengumpulkan massa. Oleh karena itu, untuk tetap memaksimalkan pendayagunaan koleksi yang dmiliki Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur melakukan inovasi layanan sirkulasi dari terbuka menjadi sistem tertutup dengan peminjaman melalui google form dan aplikasi whatsapp. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan dekriptif kualitatif dengan fokus penelitian efektivitas layanan sirkulasi dewasa dengan sistem tertutup sebagai wujud tuntutan pandemi Covid-19 di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur. Informan terdiri dari 4 orang yang berprofesi sebagai pustakawan dan 4 pemustaka. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data dengan cara pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa layanan sirkulasi dewasa dengan sistem tertutup di masa Pandemi Covid-19 di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur sangat efektif utuk meghindari kerumunan dan menjaga jarak. Hambatan yang ditemukan dari sistem tertutup pada penelitian ini adalah keterbatasan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, ketidakketersediaan koleksi dengan pesanan pemustaka, dan belum profesionalnya petugas dalam melakukan pelayanan. Layanan sirkulasi dewasa dengan sistem tertutup telah memnuhi unsur tentang pedoman tata laksana umum pelayanan umum yang dikeluarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara yaitu kesederhanaan, kejelasan dan kepastian, keamanan, keterbukaan, efisiensi, ekonomis, ekonomi, keadilan, dan ketepatan waktu. Dampak yang muncul dari layanan sirkulasi dewasa dengan sistem tertutup di masa Pandemi COVID-19 di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Jawa Timur adalah jumlah kunjungan dan peminjaman buku mengalami penurunan, peminjaman tidak maksimal, serta kepuasan pemustaka berkurang.
