Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether the application of cooperative script technique improve the students’ reading comprehension or not. It is a pre-experimental research. It conducted at first grade of SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli that was X PK 1 in academic year 2016/2017. The writer gave a pre-test to measure the students’ previous ability in reading comprehension. Then, a post-test to find out the students’ reading comprehension after given treatment which is the application of cooperative script technique. The writer used SPSS 16.0 program to analyze the data. The result of data analysis showed that cooperative script technique give a significant effect to the students in comprehending a recount text. The mean score of the post-test (82,67) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (69,87). Then, the testing hypothesis showed that the value of Tcount was greater than Ttable (13.797 > 2.054). In conclusion, the application of cooperative script technique is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension in recount text. Key words: Improving, Reading Comprehension, and Cooperative Script.

Abstract

          The objective of the research is to identify whether the use of story map technique can improve students’ ability in writing narrative text. This pre-experimental study uses 23 students as a sample. They are grade eight at MTs DDI Kel. BaruTolitoli. The procedure of this research consists of pretest, treatment, and posttest. The researcher gives pretest and posttest to know the use of story map technique can improve the students’ ability in writing narrative text or not. The result of the analysis shows that story map technique contributes greatly to the students in comprehending narrative text. It can be seen by the difference of the mean score between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test is 62.30 while in the post-test improve up to 82.09. The data of this research are analyzed by SPSS Program 16. Moreover, the Minimum Mastery Criterion of English lesson is 75 (seventy-five). Then the data of both test are analyze by using T-test, and the result show that the T-test value 7.572 is greater than T-table value 2.074. Abstract

                  The objective of the research is to prove whether the use of crossword puzzle is effective to increase students’ vocabulary. This pre-experimental study uses 23 students as a sample. They are grade VIIIc of SMP Negeri 1 Galang. The procedure of this research consists of pretest, treatment, and posttest. The result of the analysis shows that crossword puzzle contributes greatly to increse the students’ vocabulary. It can be seen by the difference of the mean score between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test is 67.30 while in the post-test increase up to 90.87. The data of this research are analyzed by using SPSS Program version 16.0. Then the data of both tests are analyzed by using T-test, and the result shows that the T-test value 8.502 is high than T-table value 2.074. It can be inferred that crossword puzzle is very effective to increase students’ vocabulary.  Keywords: Increasing, Crossword Puzzle, Vocabulary.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the use of List-Group-Label Strategy can increase students’ vocabulary at the seventh grade of MTs DDI Darul Ulum kalangkangan. This research design belongs to a quasi-experimental research. There were two classes, namely VII A as control class (without List-Group-Label Strategy) with the total number of 23 students and VII B as experiment class (taught by List-Group-Label Strategy) with the total number of 22 students. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test to both groups. The researcher used SPPS 16.0 program to analyze the data. The result of data analysis showed that List-Group-Label strategy give a significant effect to the increasing students vocabulary specially noun. The mean score of post-test experiment (65.4091) was higher than the mean score of post-test control (49.6087). Then, the testing hypothesis showed that the value of score T-test is greater than Ttable (-2.862 > 1.681). In conclusion, the application of List-Group-Label strategy is effective to increasing students’ vocabulary especially noun. Key words: Increasing, noun, and List-Group-Label.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether pop song significant or not to improve students’ listening skill at SMP Negeri 2 Galang. This research is pre-experimental research design consists of one group pre-test and post-test. There are two variables of this research namely dependent and independent variables. The independent variable is Pop Song and dependent variable is students’ listening skill at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang. The Population of this research is the eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang in 2016/2017 academic year. The sample of this research is selected by using purposive sampling technique and the selected class is VIIIa consisted of 24 students. In collecting the data, the researcher conduct test covered pre and post test in order to measure the students’ listening skill before and after given pop song media. The researcher analized the data statically.The result of the test showed that the students’ mean score in posttest 72,91 is higher than pretest 31,16. To know the significant difference between pretest and posttest, the researcher compared the value of t-counted and t-table by applying 0.05 level of significance for two-tailed test with 23 degree of freedom (24-1=23), the researcher found that the t – table is 3,768. It means that the t-counted (9,15) is higher than t-table (3,768) and the hypothesis of this research is accepted. The researcher concluded that using Pop Song can improve students’ listening skill at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang.  Key words:improving, listening skill, and pop song.
