Abstract

Juvenile delinquency remains a significant public health and social concern that adversely affects adolescents' physical, psychological, and social well-being. Increasing exposure to negative environmental influences underscores the importance of effective educational strategies to improve adolescents' knowledge of delinquent behaviors and their consequences. Audiovisual educational media have emerged as an innovative health promotion approach because they integrate visual and auditory stimuli, thereby enhancing comprehension and information retention. This study aimed to determine the effect of audiovisual educational media on knowledge regarding juvenile delinquency among first-year midwifery students at Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya. A pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 159 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Participants completed a structured questionnaire before and after receiving an audiovisual educational intervention on juvenile delinquency. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. Before the intervention, most respondents demonstrated poor knowledge regarding juvenile delinquency; however, following the intervention, the majority achieved good knowledge levels. The mean knowledge score increased from before the intervention to after the intervention, with statistical analysis revealing a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that audiovisual educational media effectively improve knowledge regarding juvenile delinquency among midwifery students. Integrating interactive audiovisual learning into adolescent health promotion programs may enhance learning outcomes, strengthen the educational competencies of future midwives, and contribute to more effective juvenile delinquency prevention strategies.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period characterized by significant physical, biological, and psychological changes. Failure to adapt to these changes may lead to various reproductive health problems, including vaginal discharge. A preliminary study conducted at the Midwifery Student Dormitory of Pontianak Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Indonesia, revealed that six out of ten students experienced vaginal discharge. Objective: This study aimed to determine the association between personal hygiene practices and the use of feminine hygiene products with the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students. Methods: This study employed a descriptive analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all female students residing in the Midwifery Student Dormitory of Pontianak Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Indonesia, in 2025. A total of 145 respondents were recruited using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through univariate and bivariate statistical analyses. Results: The findings demonstrated no statistically significant association between personal hygiene practices and the occurrence of vaginal discharge. Likewise, no significant relationship was found between the use of feminine hygiene products and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among the respondents. Conclusion: Although no significant associations were identified, reproductive health education remains essential for improving awareness and promoting appropriate personal hygiene practices to maintain female reproductive health.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a period during which women experience substantial physical and psychological changes that may increase their vulnerability to mental health problems, particularly anxiety. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately 10% of pregnant women experience anxiety during pregnancy, with the prevalence increasing to nearly 20% as childbirth approaches. Several factors, including maternal age, pregnancy experience, gestational age, educational level, income, and family support, may contribute to anxiety during pregnancy. This study aimed to identify factors associated with anxiety among pregnant women attending Arsy Medika Clinic, Cirebon Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among pregnant women receiving antenatal care at Arsy Medika Clinic. Participants were recruited using an accidental sampling technique, resulting in a total of 35 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Anxiety was assessed using the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test to determine the association between maternal characteristics and anxiety. Results: Family income (p = 0.033) and family support (p = 0.009) were significantly associated with anxiety among pregnant women. In contrast, maternal age (p = 0.056), educational level (p = 0.892), employment status (p = 0.832), parity (p = 0.190), and gestational age (p = 0.913) were not significantly associated with anxiety. Conclusion: Family income and family support were the main factors associated with anxiety among pregnant women. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating routine mental health screening into antenatal care services, with particular attention to pregnant women experiencing socioeconomic challenges and inadequate family support. Strengthening early anxiety screening programs may facilitate timely identification and intervention to improve maternal mental health outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Preconception health needs to be introduced during adolescence because nutritional status, anemia prevention, reproductive health, mental health, and healthy lifestyle practices before pregnancy influence women's readiness for reproductive life. Previous studies on adolescent preconception health have mostly been descriptive, so analysis of related factors is needed. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the association of age and history of receiving information with adolescent girls' knowledge of preconception health in Banjarmasin City. Methods: This analytical quantitative study used a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 35 adolescent girls aged 19-21 years selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected in May 2026 using a Google Form questionnaire containing 20 true-false knowledge statements. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: Most respondents were 19 years old (45.7%), almost all were college students (97.1%), and 51.4% had previously received preconception health information. Most respondents had good knowledge (91.4%). Bivariate analysis showed significant differences in knowledge scores by age (p=0.016) and history of receiving information (p=0.002). Conclusion: Adolescent girls' knowledge of preconception health was generally good. Age and information history were associated with knowledge scores, indicating the importance of equitable and continuous preconception education during adolescence
