Abstract

This study aims to determine the abundance and distribution patterns of sea urchins in Botubarani Waters, Kabila Bone District, Bone Bolango Regency. This research was conducted from July to August 2020. A total of three research stations were established, namely West Tamboa, Central Tamboa and East Tamboa. The abundance of sea urchins was calculated using a quadrant transect measuring 1 × 1 m, which was laid 25 m perpendicular to the coastline using a line transect. Sea urchin species found were identified in situ and the distribution pattern of sea urchins was calculated using the morista dispersion index. The results showed that there were 5 types of sea urchins in Botubarani Beach, namely Echinometra mathaei, Diadema setosum, Echinotrix calamaris, Echinotrix diadema and Tripneustes gratilla. The sea urchin type Echinometra mathaei is the species with the highest abundance in all research stations, namely 25 ind./m2 at Tamboa Barat station, 9 ind./m2 at Tamboa Tengah station and 7 ind./m2 at Tamboa Timur station. The distribution patterns of sea urchins found in Botubarani waters include clusters for Echinometra mathaei and uniform patterns for sea urchins Diadema setosum, Echinotrix calamaris, Echinotrix diadema and Tripneustes gratilla. ANOVA analysis results show that there is no significant difference between sea urchin abundance and water quality parameters in all research stations. This indicates that there is no difference in environmental conditions at the three sampling locations.

Abstract

Research on whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) was conducted from September 1st to December 20th, 2020 in Kwatisore waters. Kwatisore waters are within the conservation area of the Cenderawasih Bay National Park and have specifications for the number of whale sharks and the appearance of new individuals. The appearance of whale sharks individuals takes place every day around the boat life net area that is anchored in Kwatisore waters. This study aims to assess whale shark aggregation, particularly the total appearances and number of individual appearances in eight boat life net units. The number of appearances and the number of individual whale sharks is very dependent on the catch of anchovies by each boat life net unit and the feed of anchovies given by the fishermen. The results showed that there were 499 appearances of whale sharks consisting of 15 individuals, of which 13 individuals were identified, while 2 were new individuals who had not been identified. The new individual for ID 182 is named Yan Maruanaya and ID 183 is named Bram Maruanaya. The percentage of whale sharks appears during the period of September to December 2020 is 100% male with a length of 3 to 6 m.

Abstract

This research aims to know the marine ecotourism suitability, carry capacity of the area, and to formulate a strategy for managing ecotourism areas in Pohuwato District. This research is conducted at the Pohon Cinta beach and Tanjung Maleo beach. The data analysis is done by measuring the land suitability index, area carrying capacity, and SWOT Analysis. The result of the suitability analysis of beach tourism shows that the Pohon Cinta beach tourism area is suitable for beach recreational activities, boating, banana boating, and jet skiing as well as is suitable for swimming. Tanjung Maleo beach area is suitable for all activities, such as beach recreational activities, swimming, boating, banana boating, and jet skiing. Pohon Cinta beach tourism area can accommodate around 9.840 people/day, and Tanjung Maleo can accommodate around 2.640 people/day. Strategy for managing the tourism area of Pohuwato District, including promoting tourist attraction, formulating policies, determining coastal areas that need protection, coordinating each related party, inviting the community and visitor to take part in preserving the environment, improving the quality of torism area, improving coordination between the district government and the community, socialization of coaching and educational campaigns, increasing natural disaster mitigation efforts, the government monitoring, adding tourist facilities, and developing non-govermental activities.

Abstract

The biological nature of tilapia which causes uncontrolled mating and has an impact on reducing the quality of the fish has become one of the problems in tilapia aquaculture production. 5 times faster than female tilapia. The production of male monosexual tilapia can be obtained in several ways, including the application of low doses of hormones. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using low doses of 17α Methyl Testosterone (MT) in immersing tilapia larvae and to obtain superior quality male tilapia results. This study used tilapia larvae that were 1 week old and were stocked in a tank measuring 30x60cm with a dose of MT 1 mg / l, 3 mg / l and 5 mg / l with 3 replications and 1 control. stocking density of 250 birds per cage. Soaking is carried out for 8 hours. The results of immersion of tilapia larvae using MT at a dose of 3 mg / l until the 60th day showed the highest results with the proportion of 72% compared to the untreated dose, 1 mg / l and 5 mg / l. It can be ignored that the use of low doses of 17α Methyl testosterone can affect sex changes in tilapia larvae. The results showed that the dose of 5 mg / l was the best dose with the proportion of male genitalia at 97%.

Abstract

Raman reservoir is located at north of Metro City, Lampung. The water resources of the reservoir comes from Way Bunut and Way Raman rivers. The Way Bunut and Way Raman rivers flow into the Raman reservoir which is used for a variety of human activities, including fish farming with the floating net cage system, tourism, and agriculture. These activities produce organic and inorganic materials into the waters so that it may cause changes in water quality and trophic states levels, therefore research is carried out on the trophic states based on the abundance of phytoplankton and chlorophyll-a content in the waters of the Raman Reservoir. The purpose of this study was to assess the trophic states of the Raman Reservoir based on the abundance of phytoplankton, chlorophyll-a concentration, and Nygaard Index. This research was conducted in January-March 2020. The data was collected using purposive sampling method. The parameters used in this study were abundance of phytoplankton, chlorophyll-a, primary productivity, brightness, depth, temperature, DO, pH. Trophic states results based on the concentration of chlorophyll-a in the morning range from 0.0007 - 0.0274 mg/L while at noon it ranges from 0.0083-0.0769 mg/L. The results of these measurements can be categorized as chlorophyll-a content in Raman Resevoir was still in the category oligotrophic. The results of trophic states based on the Nygaard index it shows the category of eutrophic.
