This study focused on analyzing speech acts and their forces performed by the English teacher in EF (English First) Samarinda. This study is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. There are two teachers as the subjects of the data. The data of the study are the utterances performed by the English teachers. The main instrument of the study is the researcher herself with the help of an audio-video recorder during the data collection. In this study, the researcher uses Searle’s theory about types of speech acts. The findings show that 1) there are four kinds of speech acts performed by the teacher during the teaching and learning process, those were representative, commissive, directive, and expressive, 2) the most frequently speech act performed by the teachers is directive speech act while the least speech act performed is commissive. The directive speech act occurs as the most speech act performed by the teacher because they want the students to be more active and can contribute more during the teaching and learning process.

Writing is an important major that should be mastered by students. However, it is hard for students to comprehend along English passage. The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of activities that occur during the teaching process of writing recount text through a series of pictures and to identify the benefits students receive from writing a recount text through a series of images. The total sampling technique is used in selecting samples. The results of the study revealed that teaching writing using a series of images can improve students' ability to write recount texts. In particular, they show some improvements to the process of writing and vocabulary.

The subject of this research was the students of SMP Negeri 34 Samarinda, and the object was this research was the factors that influence students’ interest in learning English. The population and sample of this research were all of the students in class VIII at SMP N 34 Samarinda. They consisted of eight D classes. The total were number of the population was 27 students. The technique used in collecting data was questionnaire. To analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive statistic to analyze the data. The researcher used mean to known the score. Based on the data analysis, it can be seen that the factor that influence of students’ interest is categorized into middle (63%). There are some factors that influence students’ interest in learning English. They are: internal factors (come from the students themselves such as attention, intelligence, and readiness) and external factors such us parent and teacher. The dominant factors that influence students interest is external factors from the teacher factor

Montessori Method is rarely used in Indonesia, especially Samarinda, and schools that apply this method are still relatively few. Teachers who choose this method and teach in schools that use this method are ready to face the challenges based on Pertiwi et al. (2020) when teaching children to learn English using a specific Method. This article reports a qualitative study that figures out the Teacher's challenges in teaching English for young learners around 5-6 years old using Montessori Method to "Follow the child" and use the English Language as their instruction language. Two kindergarten English teachers in Nido Montessori School participated in this study, and data were collected through interview-based on case study design. This study indicated that teachers face several challenges when teaching English to young learners using the Montessori Method. Children who lack the English Language create limited communication between teachers and children because children can express what they need using the Language. Children with different characteristics challenges teachers focus on each of them and follow all of their need. Teaching English to the young learner using Montessori Method sometimes does not match the teaching topic or lesson, and this challenging Teacher to quickly use another teaching technique to make all the children able to follow the lesson. In conclusion, teaching English to young learners using a specific method (Montessori Method) will challenge the English Teacher.

This qualitative research helps explore and understand the meaning of human action by describing the essential characteristics of a social or human experience (Astalin, 2013). This research aims to investigate SEA-Teacher students' challenges in teaching English overseas in the Philippines in terms of difficulties, motivations, and knowledge during and after teaching English overseas. A semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted and applied to those four SEA-Teacher students to find out the challenges in teaching English overseas according to 7th batch of SEA-Teacher students in the Philippines. Those students had experienced teaching English subjects in other countries in the Philippines by joining the SEA-Teacher program, one of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education (SEAMEO) programs and located in Bangkok, Thailand. Flow Qualitative Analysis by Miles, Huberman, & Saldana (2014) analyzes the data. The interview result showed that teaching process and teaching preparation were the most challenging in teaching English in other countries. Teaching preparation was challenging to work on the Philippines' lesson plan because of curriculum differences. They also found that they were challenging in their teaching process where they were hard to manage the classroom during their teaching class because of the students' attitude when they were not listening to the teacher's instruction. Their difficulties in teaching preparation and Process came from themselves where they did not have the confidence and knowledge to adapt to other countries full of different cultures.

As one of the most popular social media in this modern era, YouTube is also playing a role in education. Technology, which is part of student life, can offer useful feedback, especially in facilitating, increasing knowledge and English skills. An audio-visual model that can be accessed anywhere can make students feel more open about thoughts, opinions, questions, and be more comfortable and motivated in learning English. This article reports a qualitative study that finds out students' perceptions of English learning through YouTube are beneficial and help them learn English. 5 students who use the YouTube application as a media for learning English in SMK Negeri 17 participated in this study, and data were collected through interview-based on case study design. The results of this study find out all of the students have many benefits to improve their English skills, and very easy to access in almost every student's gadget and it can be used in every situation for help and motivated them to learn English. The students are only feeling the difficulty if the internet connection is not good. All of the students are given positive responses about the use of YouTube application in learning English.

To translate one language to another language, sometimes some students still have difficulty translating foreign language due to their inexperience in the foreign language. This research uses a case study research design with a qualitative approach suitable for the terms and conditions with case study research design. The research conducted a pre-test and post-test translation test, which involved five subjects with two abstracts for each subject. This study showed that subjects were influenced by machine translation dependency on behavioral and result aspects. This study also showed the results differences, which showed that subjects had lower results when translated manually than translated used machine translation. Machine translation could help the students in translation tasks. However, dependency behavior could influence the progress and results of translation because it still has weaknesses in machine translation. The study advises users to use machine translation wisely to keep the advantages of machine translation and to decrease the disadvantages of machine translation.

The translation is a tool to communicate for people who have different languages. The translation makes it easier for them to understand what others say and get more information from the other languages, especially on the abstract that will help the researcher so that it is easy to get the desired information. In the abstract, their much information that gains for the researcher. Therefore, the researcher is dedicated to studying the challenges of translating. This study aims to know the challenges in translating Indonesian abstract text to English faced by eight-semester students' of the English Department at Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda. The subject used of the study was 8th-semester students in the English department of Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda. There are five students as participants. The research design to use is qualitative. To collect the data, the researcher uses interview guidelines. The interview result showed that lexicon, grammar, element semantic, and translation style were the challenges in translating Indonesian abstract text to English.

The entry of social life, human communicate with Language, there are many Languages made by agreement from the community of people, in the era of industrial technology, Advertising Language is one of the Languages that use ability to speak, The ability to handle conversations in real-time through advertising skills. The purpose of this study is to investigate features of advertising Language as a method of learning speaking English. This paper utilized Observation and Interview to gather the data. There are take Primary and Secondary data. The results of this study show the used of Advertising Language on the video assignment by the students are containing the features of advertising Language, and the result of the interview session that student helpful with the advertising Language to speech and supporting that can improve speaking English skills. Advertising Language have basic representations of perception that are interesting. Therefore, the researcher found that the function of the advertising Language features used had helped the subject speak both consciously and unconsciously, as a result of observations and in-depth interviews, the students have their own narrative that they fully supported the advertising Language itself use as a method of improving speaking English skills on the future.

In teaching and learning process strategy is an activity that should be done both teacher and learner in order to get learning activity become effective and efficient. In short, teaching strategies are very important since they determine the success of teaching process. Strategies used by teachers should be interesting and can capture students’ attention. Some of the strategies used in teaching speaking are such cooperative activities as role-play, creative tasks, and drilling [1]. This article report a qualitative study that find out teacher’s strategies in teaching English speaking to young learners in junior school. Two junior school teacher in SMP Purnama were participated in this research and data were collected through interviews based on a case study design. The result of this study indicated the technique employed by the teacher in teaching speaking were so various such as role play, storytelling, social strategy and discussion. Teachers at SMP Purnama use more than one teaching strategy same like explanation above. This strategy helps students in an easier, faster, and more fun way mastering vocabulary so that it greatly supports the improvement of students' speaking skills. The teachers chooses a strategy based on the principles of teaching speaking. The teacher uses several strategies to help students are more motivated to learn and can add to their new vocabulary.
