ISSN : 20399340 EISSN : 20392117 DOI : 10.36941/mjss
The use of waste as an additional material on the building work was increasingly actively developed, such as straw, styrofoam, bagasse, cow manure. The key drivers of the use of waste is the potential for waste is increasing, due to the depletion of non-renewable resources. Papyrus rod diameter 60 cm, length 30 meters, has a volume of 5,652m3 as well as the edges of the Rods that can be used for construction with a thickness of 3 cm has a volume 0,942m3, Pith and fiber volume content of the stem 4,71m3/rod, then in one rod, there are 2 to 3 bunches each fruit bunches yield as much as 20 to 30 items for one harvest, by weight of fruit fiber 101.2 gram / fruit, Fiber characteristics are round and smooth is expected to reduce cracks in solid concrete brick and also can reduce the use of sand. This study aims to determine the compressive strength of the composition of the additional material of Rods fiber content and Fiber of palmyra fruit with a percentage 3%, 6% and 9%, mixing ratio; 1 cement and 5 sand in the manufacture of solid concrete brick. Rods fiber content used the average Ø1,031mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 39,305N / cm and fruit fiber to an average value Ø0,40mm with a tensile strength of single fiber 33,691N / cm. Making test specimen with a length of 20cm, width 10cm and thick 8cm. The test results of compressive strength after 14 days with the lowest value at 3% of additional material combination of fiber content of 6% fiber stem and fruit by 70,384Kg/cm²with a water content of 15,254% In weight position 2,935Kg as well as the highest value on the combination of additional material 0% rods fiber content and 3% fruit fiber by 98,821Kg/cm² with a water content of 15,031% In weight position 3,058Kg. While N (without additional material) with a compressive strength below the average id 63,704Kg/cm2 with water content of 10,167 in weight position 3,072Kg. Research result of solid concrete brick with additional material of rods fiber content and palmyra fruit fiber was included on the type B70, the average value of the compressive strength of 78.57 Kg / cm² (SNI-03-1348-1989) with a water content of <25%.

Abstract

This study was on the influence of sex and age on depression among first year undergraduates in Cross River State, Nigeria. The population of the study was 2,800 first year students of the two Universities in Cross River State (University of Calabar and Cross River State University of Science and Technology). A sample of 560 first year students was drawn from the institutions to take part in the study using random sampling technique. This comprised of 269 males and 291 females. A questionnaire with two sections was used for data collection. Section A, elicited responses for sex and age while section B was an adapted Beck’s depression inventory to gather information on the degree of depression among the students. The statistical tools used were the independent t-test and ANOVA. T-test was used to analyze responses on sex while the ANOVA was used to analyze responses on age and depression. The results showed that the males were more depressed than the females and depression also increased with age.It was recommended among other things that parents and sponsors of these students should show equal care in terms of giving upkeep money to both the males and the females. People should also be encouraged to go to school at early age.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to study the factors that determine the intention of unsecured personal debt with credit cards using the Ajzen Planned Behavior Theory model (1991). Using the data of 450 Ecuadorian professionals and a model of structural equations estimated by partial least squares, the attitudes, subjective norms and perceived control that guide people towards the intention of this debt were identified. The importance of this study is its contribution to understanding the factors that determine the intention of personal indebtedness in emerging economies, expanding the study population to the professional sector. The transversal study has a quantitative design and its purpose is explanatory correlative. The hypothesis evidence and the results show that the Ajzen Planned Behavior Theory model (1991) is a predictive model of the intention to borrow by credit card in Ecuadorian professionals. The proposed model contributes with new individual and contextual factors that demonstrate the particular importance of knowledge of credit cards (CONTC), lifestyle (ESTV) and past behaviour (CPAS) in predicting the intention of debt (INTEND). Furthermore, due to the cultural characteristics of each region of Ecuador, the results are compared between the cities: Guayaquil (Costa) and Quito (Sierra).

Abstract

Religion has always been an extraordinary element of social cohesion, despite the fact that over the centuries its structure and power of influence adjusted to the epochal changes that, especially during the 20th century, have affected societies in the world. Through research, we wanted to highlight the features that characterise the concept of religiosity among young university students, with a focus on the intensity of religious sentiment, the relationship with God and, contextually, the religious institution, attested by attendance to the rites. This research, that was carried out through a structured questionnaire with closed answers, involved a population consisting of students enrolled in master or postgraduate courses and others enrolled in the fourth and fifth year of single-cycle courses of the University of Bari Aldo Moro in the academic year 2017-2018. The results show that, despite the large part of the sample declares itself a Christian Catholic faith, only a small part constantly attends religious services; rather, the percentage of students declaring to pray often or daily is quite relevant. We are witnessing a change in the way young people enjoy religion: more individual, more emotional, syncretically directed to the individual, rather than to a uniformly defined category.

Abstract

This study used a structural equation modelling approach to assess the association between employee work-life policies, psychological empowerment, and academic staff job commitment in universities in Cross River State, Nigeria. Three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study following a descriptive survey research design. Multistage sampling procedure was adopted in the selection of 315 academic staff from two universities in the study area. “Work-Life Policies, Psychological Empowerment and Job Commitment Questionnaire (WPPEJCQ)” was used as the instrument for data collection. The construct validity of the instrument was ascertained through an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The Kaiser-Meyer-Ohlin of .894 and the Bartlett coefficient of 7795.820 were obtained. Several fit indices of Confirmatory Factor Analysis were used to accept the model such as RMSEA=.031, TLI=.969, CFI=.971 and many others. The null hypotheses were all tested using Path analysis. Findings revealed, among others, that there is a significant effect of work-life policies on the affective (β=.774,t=21.636,p<.05), continuance (β=.450,t=8.932,p<.05), and normative (β=490,t=9.967,p<.05) dimensions of academic staff commitment; furthermore, psychological empowerment has a significant effect on the affective (β=.795,t=23.199,p<.05), continuance (β=.501,t=10.261,p<.05) and normative (β = .520, t = 10.795, p< .05) dimensions of staff commitment; and there is a significant composite effect of work-life policies and psychological empowerment on the affective, continuance, and normative commitment levels of academic staff in universities. Based on these findings, conclusions and recommendations were made

Abstract

Television plays important role in the family. It serves as source of information, entertainment, cultural propagation, among other functions. It brings family members together and serves as a catalyst for family unity. However, there is the argument that television viewership could also have negative influence on family unity and values. The study therefore investigated the influence of Television viewing on family unity and values in Southern Nigeria. The study adopted the Behavior Imitation, Linkage and Bowen Family Systems theories. The study used survey and questionnaire as method and instrument respectively. The respondents were chosen through a multi-stage sampling process. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that majority of the respondents do not watch television together with other family members at home. Also, watching of television is found to have negative influence on family unity and values. The study recommends that family members should watch television together at home; and avoid adopting negative values they watch on television.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the Mediterranean as an aquatic area that for centuries has united different people and cultures together in one story. The methodology consists of the analysis of historical documents of the different archives in west Europe, that shows complex stories with witch connect ancient links of the East. The long transition from feudalism to capitalism represents the background for the action of important personalities, that for the realization of their political and military projects confront themselves with other players and the enemy par excellence, represented by the Ottoman Empire. The War is an integral part of the society of the old regime, both for the conquest and the defense and, in this framework, it is extremely useful to reveal the story of important leaders, such as Mattia Corvino, Scanderbeg and many other on the eastern quadrant, which outlines the traits of Mediterranean where there are not only factors of unification, but also issues of division. Migration, with the cultures that bring, it fits into the larger context of the national heritage of different people, which remain in the literature and poetry, music, dance, a wealth of great significance attesting ancient cultural mergers that introduces imagination and memories of all. In this prospect, as in other cases, including war, it gave rise to occasions that have consented different people to build a great deal of a common history.

Abstract

The research was able to observe how the words used by Hesiod systematically describe Typhon as a hybrid uncontrollable entity, characterized by ubri~, and by a great power, expressed in furious violence. In particular, it could be observed how the ofiomorfic appearance of the entity, as well as the voices emitted from its many heads, qualify its distinctive features, both for the immeasurable size and polymorphia, and for its emotional instability, driven by uncontrollable impulses and unable to domain its passions. This aspect reflects perfectly the opposition to Zeus, the deity who, over the tale told in the Theogony, qualifies himself for his connections to, which the mhti", that is a pondered and thoughtful thought, aimed at succeeding at practical action.
