Abstract

Purpose: The principal objective of this study is to identify the factors that might influence the inclination towards eco-friendly purchases while considering the incorporation of renewable energy via Solar Power Generation Systems (PLTS). Research Methodology: A comprehensive data analysis was conducted using a Structural Equation Model (SEM) facilitated by the SMART PLS. This study targets household electricity consumers in Palembang, Indonesia. Results: The findings indicate that Environmental Knowledge has a significant impact on Green Purchase Intention, whereas green product awareness plays a notable role in influencing green purchase intention. Moreover, it was found that attitude did not significantly affect Green Purchase Intention. Green Product Awareness has a substantial effect on green purchase intentions. Notably, this study establishes that Environmental Knowledge does not impact Green Purchase Intention through attitude, indicating partial mediation. The findings of this study emphasize the critical role of Environmental Knowledge and Green Product Awareness in shaping green purchase intentions among electricity consumers in Palembang, Indonesia. Limitations: Fostering an environment that is conducive to enhancing environmental literacy and promoting awareness of green products is imperative. Contribution: This research explores the various elements that impact the likelihood of making eco-conscious purchases, particularly in relation to embracing renewable energy technologies.

Abstract

Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of agency banking on the financial inclusion of SMEs, determine factors that influence the adoption of agency banking by SMEs, and establish an agency banking model that can be adopted to improve the financial inclusion of SMEs in Zimbabwe. Research Methodology: The study uses a mixed-method approach and is explanatory. Questionnaires and informants were used as research instruments, with a random sample of 78 respondents and 10 purposively selected agents. Inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: The findings shed light on the effects of agency banking on financial inclusion and impediments to financial inclusion, and identify the channels of agency banking being used most frequently. Factors that influenced the adoption of technology were also identified. Limitations: The study was limited to one population group and one locality, although financial inclusion should ideally include all population groups. Contribution: This study recommends a unique model that can be used to enhance financial inclusion through agency banking, which has been identified as a pillar of financial inclusion. Therefore, the results are useful to policymakers and future researchers.

Abstract

Purpose: The prevalence of cashless payments has increased globally owing to their myriad benefits. Furthermore, the use of cashless payments has also increased. Nevertheless, there is a need for more comprehensive research on the acceptance and current methodologies of cashless transactions. This study aims to gain a thorough understanding by identifying the entities involved and their pivotal functions in the payment ecosystem. Research Methodology: This report seeks to answer two research questions: i) Which factors are involved in the cashless payment ecosystem? What key elements influence the players in adopting a cashless payment ecosystem? Six key ecosystem players and their influencing elements were identified by comprehensively evaluating 63 publications published between 2015 and 2021. Results: Several benefits are associated with cashless payments, which have led to their growing popularity worldwide. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 epidemic, there was a significant increase in the use of cashless payment methods. Limitations: On the other hand, more holistic studies on the widespread use of cashless payment methods and their respective modern behaviors are needed. Contribution: In addition to providing a foundation for further empirical research, this study contributes to resolving adoption-related concerns. Novelty: This study’s original approach to understanding the various elements driving cashless payment system development by focusing on participant roles and functions is unique. Unlike previous studies, this study examines human dynamics rather than technology or regulatory issues.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the connection between Kabale District Local Government (KLDG) staff retention and organizational performance. Research Methodology: A correlational study design with the goal of reporting on the connection between staff retention and organizational performance in the local government of the Kabale District. A sample size of 96 respondents was chosen from among the 142 division personnel and staff in the sub-counties that participated in the survey. A survey consisting of questionnaires and interviews was conducted to gather data. Results: The degree and intensity of the association between employee retention and organizational performance were determined using a correlation analysis. Qualitative data derived from interviews were documented and categorized verbatim. When the influence of the work environment was considered, the study discovered a very weak link between employee retention and organizational performance. Limitations: This study was conducted to cover employee retention and employee performance in one district, and the results cannot be generalized. Contribution: The study suggests that the Kabale District Local Government (KCLG) needs to make improvements to its workplace to encourage staff members to remain with the institution. The district should follow established protocols, including local government, public financial management, and public service standing orders.   An independent investigation of the contribution of policy execution to the achievement of organizational objectives in Ugandan local governments is also warranted.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the factors affecting customers' digital banking adoption using the Technology Adoption Model (TAM), supplemented by Bank Marketing Activities (BMA) and Bank Personal Competence (BPC). Research Methodology: A total of 271 participants were analyzed quantitatively using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with IBM AMOS 26. Results: The findings indicate that both Bank Marketing Activities (BMA) and Bank Personal Competence (BPC) play significant roles in augmenting the perceived ease of use and usefulness of digital banking. Specifically, BPC demonstrates greater efficacy in enhancing ease of use, whereas BMA affects both ease of use and usefulness. Key components of effective bank marketing include personnel expertise, proactive service delivery, and the effective handling of customer dissatisfaction. Moreover, essential competencies for bank staff include being responsive, adept at problem solving, and adhering to ethical standards. Limitations: The applicability of this study's findings is primarily focused on the educational environment. Contribution: This study expands the theory of technology adoption, particularly within the realm of marketing functions. It offers valuable managerial insights into the prioritization of bank services and the development of personnel competencies aimed at bolstering the adoption of digital banking services.

Abstract

Purpose: Changes in global retirement systems have necessitated greater personal responsibility for making retirement financial decisions. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of financial literacy on the financial preparedness for retirement among the formally employed in Zimbabwe. Research Methodology: The study adopted a positivist philosophy and an explanatory research design. Questionnaires were used to collect data from a target population of employees in Bindura, Zimbabwe. The final sample consisted of 384 participants. The independent variable, financial literacy, was measured using knowledge of financial instruments and computational capabilities of retirement benefits. Data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 25. Results: The findings show a statistically significant relationship between knowledge of financial instruments and financial preparedness for retirement at the 5% significance level. The computational capabilities of retirement benefits are found to have no effect on financial preparedness for retirement. Limitations: Other factors that affect financial preparedness, such as demographics and financial factors, were not included in the model. Contribution: This study addresses retirement preparedness, which is one of the least-researched areas of personal finance in Zimbabwe. Therefore, the results are useful for policymakers to enhance the framework of retirement financial literacy.

Abstract

Purpose: In the past, companies placed significant emphasis on Earnings Per Share (EPS) financial performance, while Environment Social Governance (ESG) is now used to assess a company's comprehensive performance in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Research Methodology: This study employs qualitative research through in-depth interviews and utilizes the SWOT analysis method. This study aims to conduct an in-depth investigation into Taiwan Asia Cement's future carbon management strategy, anticipating and positioning itself to turn the crisis into an opportunity, ultimately becoming a major winner in the era of climate change and a low-carbon economy. Results: The primary objectives are to understand the innovative process of promoting low-carbon cement manufacturing by Taiwan Asia Cement and to investigate consumers' willingness to use this cement. The study reveals that Asia Cement has established a low-carbon cement promotion team, actively collaborating with consumers to increase the adoption of low-carbon cement, resulting in a stable market growth rate. Limitations: The marketing strategies in this study are more useful for the cement industry only and are not applicable to competitive marketing strategies in other industries. Contribution:  Additionally, interviews uncover that consumers using low-carbon cement are mainly located in eastern Taiwan. Many consumers in this region have not heard of or used low-carbon cement, indicating significant marketing opportunities. Novelty: In an environment where the world is emphasizing ESG, it is important to enhance the corporate image of the cement industry through process innovation to contribute to environmental issues.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of physical ergonomic factors on the performance of lecturers in public Universities in Anambra State, Nigeria. Research Methodology: This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study was 200; 187 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis, and the census method was adopted. The source of the data was a questionnaire, which was tested for reliability using the split-half technique, and the value obtained was .998. Correlation analysis was carried out, and the hypothesis was tested at a 5% level of significance. Results: The findings indicated that there is a positive correlation between ergonomic factors and the performance of academics in the universities under study, and it was established that the coefficient level between ergonomic factors and the performance of academics is very high, and that the correlation coefficient is significant at the 0.01 levels (.000<0.01). Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and alternately accepted, which states that there is a significant relationship between physical ergonomic factors and the performance of academics in public Universities in Anambra State, Nigeria. Limitations: The narrowing of the scope of the study to only public Universities in Anambra State limits the generalizability of the study.   Contribution: The Nigerian government will, by this study, know how to properly apply the physical ergonomic factors and its principles strictly adhered to, which will help reduce stress and work-related hazards in the workplace, leading to increased efficiency and stellar performance of public universities.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of the digital revolution on everyday life, focusing mainly on the emergence of e-wallets as substitutes for traditional physical wallets, and the adoption of various banking technologies in Bangladesh. Research Methodology: This study examines the utilization of several banking technologies in Bangladesh, including bKash Limited's mobile banking services, which were introduced in July 2011, and offer secure and convenient financial services to individuals with or without bank accounts. Additionally, this study explores the National Payment Switch developed by Bangladesh Bank in 2012, which aims to standardize electronic payments among commercial banks, facilitating cash withdrawals using plastic cards at ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) locations. Results: The findings indicate that bKash Limited's mobile wallet facilitates secure transactions through its highly encrypted Visa technology platform, enabling customers to deposit for various services such as wages, loans, and domestic remittances. However, the availability of bKash is limited to specific networks and areas, with restrictions on the use of bank accounts. Moreover, implementing the National Payment Switch is expected to reduce transaction costs, enhance financial inclusivity, and streamline online transactions by eliminating individual payment networks. Limitations: One limitation of the study is the limited availability of bKash in specific regions and networks, and the restrictions imposed on bank account usage within the system. Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of the evolving landscape of digital banking technologies in Bangladesh by offering insights into the adoption and impact of e-wallets and other banking solutions. The findings may inform policymakers, financial institutions, and researchers about strategies to enhance financial inclusivity, reduce transaction costs, and promote digitalization in the banking sector.
