Journal of SAGO Gizi dan Kesehatan (Nutrition and Health) is a peer-reviewed journal of a scientific nature contained in the Polytechnic of Health Ministry of Health of Aceh, who publish high quality of nutrition and health-related individuals, populations, groups and communities who are vulnerable to malnutrition and health and risk issues. The scope of the journal study associated issues of nutrition, food technology, nutrition and maternal and child health, environmental health, hygiene and sanitation, oral health, treatment of individuals/families and communities, and safety of medical drugs. The journal also seeks to raise awareness of the interrelationship between nutrition, exercise, physical activity, and lifestyle for improving health across the lifespan and to demonstrate how healthcare outcomes and policies can be improved with the adoption of a more nutrition-oriented approach. In this way, it aspires to provide an invaluable resource to nutrition and healthcare practitioners, as well as researchers and academics of nutrition studies. SAGO Gizi dan Kesehatan (Nutrition and Health) provides an initial rapid review of all submissions to determine suitability for external peer review. Abstract

Background: The use of mercury material has developed very broadly, and one of them is in the gold mining process which is carried out in the gold extraction process. The activity is carried out in the yard of the house and adjacent to the dug well, this can cause pollution in the soil and dug well water. Problems that arise due to exposure to Mercury are gastrointestinal disorders, kidney damage, nerve damage, disability in the fetus, while in children will reduce cognitive abilities and thinking, memory, attention, language mastery, fine motor skills and visual.Objectives: The purpose of this community service is to increase community knowledge about the construction of dug wells and waste collection tanks as well as a safe distance to pollutants in the traditional gold mining.Method:  The study used a cross-sectional design, involving subjects in 30 community groups. Data collection using a questionnaire and conducted interviews. Analysis of research data is only done univariately.Results: The results of the evaluation of the activity revealed that there was an increase in public knowledge of the conditions for the construction of dug wells, waste collection basins and diseases caused by mercury exposure directly or indirectly on the human body (able to answer questions correctly more than 20% on each question item).Conclusion: Most people begin to understand that the danger of mercury does not only occur in the skin, but can affect the entire organ system and permanent nervous system damage.

Abstract

Background: Soft foods are foods with a texture that is easy to chew, swallow, digest than regular food. The purpose of administration is to be easily swallowed and digested according to nutritional needs and disease conditions. Modification of recipes is very important to improve the appearance in shape, taste, color, aroma, and temperature of food so that it can be well received by patients.Objectives: The aim was to determine the effect of soft food modification on the level of patient satisfaction and food waste at the Meuraxa General Hospital in Banda Aceh City.Methods: Quasi-experimental research design. This research was conducted at Meuraxa Public Hospital in Banda Aceh City. Which will be carried out from November to December 2018. The population in this study is all inpatients at the Meuraxa general hospital in Banda Aceh city from November to December receiving soft diets. The sample in this study was carried out using the purposive sampling technique in which the sample taken in the Arrahman Room and Arafat Room. Quantitative data analysis with an independent sample t-test was performed to compare food scraps before modification and after modifications to the soft food menu, the data presentation was presented in tabular and narrative form.Results: The rest of the food on the 3rd menu after statistical tests using the t-test can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the remaining rice on the modification of soft foods before and after modification (p < 0.05). Soft food scraps on the 4th menu showed a significant effect between vegetable residues on modified soft foods before and after they were modified (p < 0.05). Soft food residues on the 5th menu before and after modification also showed a significant effect between vegetable residues on modification of soft foods before and after modification (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Modifications to the menu on soft foods showed a significant influence on the level of patient satisfaction and food waste at the Meuraxa District General Hospital in Banda Aceh. Suggestions, modification of soft food menu can be used as an alternative dish that can be served to inpatients.

Abstract

Background: Public participation generally seen as a form of health behavior is the participation of mothers of children under five in the of Maternal & Child Health Centre it program. Its is a form of integrated services organized for and by the community with work programs from related agencies to then obtain basic health services, decrease maternal and child mortality rates and for the achievement of Small Prosperous Happy Families (KKBS).Purpose: The study aims to analyze the coverage of weighing children under five to Maternal & Child Health Centre (D/S) in the area of the Banda Aceh City Health Center.Method: This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach conducted with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of 3 main informants, 4 implementing informants and 7 policy makers in the lowest D / S region (Lampaseh Puskesmas area) and 3 main informants, 4 implementing informants and 8 informants policy makers in the highest D/S region (Kopelma Darussalam Puskesmas area).Results: The results of this study found that the availability of facilities is still limited, the role of cadres is still low (not yet able to carry out development programs), the role of the gampong government is still lacking in supporting the implementation and improvement of posyandu visits, policy makers do not fully understand that the conditions in posyandu are a big responsibility from the village, and in practice in the field there has not been an effort to monitor and evaluate the extent of the implementation of the posyandu by the health department.Conclusion: The cadres' low knowledge of development programs in an effort to increase community motivation for posyandu visits. Suggestions for implementing of Maternal & Child Health Centre activities to provide an understanding of how to implement a Maternal & Child Health Centre, improve competence, provide suggestions for development programs and for policymakers.

Abstract

Background: Dental and oral health is one part that can not be separated from overall body health. Dental and oral care as a whole begins with dental and oral hygiene for each individual. Teaching methods of brushing teeth for children need to be given examples of a good model and with the simplest technique possible.Objectives: The research aims to increase the knowledge of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students in maintaining dental and oral health and improve the dental and oral hygiene status of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students.Method:  The research using a quantitative method with a descriptive approach, with the target of Class V students of SDN 33 Banda Aceh City Banda Aceh City totaling 30 children. Data analysis uses univariate analysis. The interventions provided were in the form of Dental Health Education (DHE).Results: The results of these community service activities show there is an increase in students' knowledge in the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene in SDN 33 Banda Aceh City students, with an increase before the intervention (pre-test) is in the sufficient category (56.7%) and after the intervention (post test) in the good category (96.7%). There was an increase in the status of dental and oral hygiene of students, with an increase before the intervention (pre-test) was in the bad category (100%) and after the intervention (post test) was in the good category (100%).Conclusion: It is recommended that schools provide regular counseling to students about the importance of maintaining oral health and holding joint toothbrushes to improve oral and dental hygiene.

Abstract

Background: Giving breastmilk exclusively is very important for the health and development of infants. In Indonesia the scope of exclusive breastfeeding until the age of 6 months is still relatively low. This situation will have an impac on the quality of the nation’s next generation and also the national economy.Objectives: To obtain the relationship between the promotion of formula milk, Breastmilk production and psychological factor of mother with exclusive breastfeeding in the work area of the Bireuen Peusangan health center.Methods: This research is analytic descriptive with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in the Peusangan Bireuen Community Health Center from 19 February-4 March 2018. The number of samples was 67 mothers who had babies aged 7-11 months. Data processing was carried out with SPSS and Chi-Square statistical test analysis with p-value < 0.05.Results: The results showed that 43 people (64.2%) gave exclusive breastfeeding, ther was relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the promotion of formula milk (p= 0.032), Breastmilk production (p= 0.047), but not related to psychology (p=0,830).Conclusion: Breastmilk production and promotion of formula milk are related to exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Background: Food processing workers for orphanage play an important role in processing large quantities of food. The problems that exist in the food handler staff at orphanages lack knowledge about good food processing techniques.Objectives: To find out whether there is an influence of counseling with poster media on increasing the knowledge and implementation of food processing techniques in food handlers in the orphanage of Banda Aceh.Methods: This study is descriptive analytical with an observation approach, Quasi Experiment design, with pre and post design without control. The sample is 24 food handlers. This research was conducted in June 2019. Data analysis used the Dependent T-test at a confidence level of 95%.Results: Results There was an increase in knowledge in food handlers by 9.50, namely before counseling 22.25, while after counseling the average knowledge in food handlers increased to 31.75. The increase in the application of food handlers was 8.50, which was before counseling 15.75, whereas after extension the average application for food handlers increased to 24.25. The results of the knowledge category T-test test obtained p = 0.001 (p <0.05), the application category obtained p = 0.006 (p < 0.05).Conclusion: There is a significant effect of counseling with poster media on increasing knowledge and application of food handlers in processing food ingredients at Nirmala Orphanage.

Abstract

Background: The use of traditional medicines is increasingly massive, it takes packaging and handling practical ways for the community. Soursop leaf is one of the herbs known to have many pharmacological properties for health. Capsules are an alternative form of packaging that is efficient for the community because in addition to ease of use, it can also mask the unpleasant taste and smell of simplicia.Objectives:  This aims to improve the skills of students in the use of soursop (Annona Muricata L.) leaves for the prevention and treatment of various diseases.Methods: This study was used a quasi-experimental design with a postest only approach. This activity was carried out by providing counseling (lecture method) and providing skills on how to package the soursop leaf simplicia powder into a capsule shell on 28 November 2018 at Suka Makmur High School, Aceh Besar. Direct data collection, and analysis using t-dependent tests.Results: The results of the study have shown an increase in the skills of students in the use of soursop (Annona muricata L.) leaves for the prevention and treatment of various diseases after counseling (p <0.05).Conclusion: Increasing the knowledge of students related to prevention and treatment can be done through counseling, namely counseling about the use of soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.)

Abstract

Background: Biduri leaves (Calotropis gigantea (L.) W.T. Aiton and Bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides L.) are wild growing plants that are believed to be used as an antibacterial.Objectives: This research was conducted to determine the effect of combination ethanolic extract of Biduri and Bandotan leaves against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis.Methods: This research is an experimental by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments which is P0 (aquadest), P1 (Biduri leaf extract), P2 (Bandotan leaf extract), and P3 (combination of Biduri and Bandotan leaf extract) with 5 replications. Microbiological test used was the diffusion method.Results: The results of Anova showed that combination of Biduri and Bandotan leaf extract very influential in the growth of Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis. Duncan further test results showed that the largest average inhibition zone diameter in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus was formed by P2 which is 14.14 mm, significantly different from P1 (9.46 mm) and P3 (11.20 mm), but P1 is not significantly different from P3. Toward Staphylococcus epidermidis, the largest average inhibition zone diameter also formed by P2 which is 17.06 mm that is also significantly different from P1 (10.14 mm) and P3 (12.66 mm), and P1 is not significantly different from P3.Conclusion: The combination of Biduri and Bandotan leaf extract very influential against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis.

Abstract

Background: Quality hospital services are demands that must be met, in improving the quality and satisfaction of the community as service users. Patients tend to make the decision not to re-visit a hospital if the services provided are of low quality. The problem that is often faced by the hospital, in general, is that it has not been able to provide the services that the community really expects. The main factor is because the service has low-quality management.Purpose: This study aims to measure the relationship of service quality to the satisfaction level of Insurance and Social Security patients at Tanjung Selamat Hospital, Langkat.Method: The research design was a cross-sectional study at the Tanjung Selamat Hospital, Langkat. The respondents as 43 who were taken by accidental sampling from January to February 2017. Data were collected through interviews and observations using a questionnaire covering demographic data, characteristics, service quality and level of satisfaction. Service quality data processing is given a scoring and is grouped into good, moderate, poor. Patient satisfaction variables were also scored with the classification of satisfied and dissatisfied. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test with CI: 95%.Results: The service quality at the Tanjung Selamat hospital is still not good (46.5%), with the level of patient satisfaction with the service is still low (58.1%). Statistically, there is a relationship between service quality and BPJS patient satisfaction at Tanjung Selamat Hospital in 2017, with a p-value = 0.001 (p <0.05).Conclusion: The lack of good service quality is related to the low level of satisfaction of Insurance and Social Security patients at Tanjung Selamat Hospital. Suggestion, the hospital must improve the quality and quality of service through repair and improvement of facilities and infrastructure, education and training for health workers.

Abstract

Background: One of the nutritional problems in Indonesia is iodine deficiency which can cause IDD. Lack of iodine can result in mumps and cretin, mental retardation, birth defects, children who are less intelligent, and miscarriage in pregnant women. The community is expected to understand the effects of iodine deficiency and excess on health, so it is expected to reduce the number of sufferers of iodine deficiency and excess in Indonesia.Objective: The research aims to improve the behavior of mothers in using iodized salt towards the anticipation of short children. Methods: The study design was quasi-experimental, which was conducted on 30 housewives who had toddlers. The study was conducted from August to September 2018 in Lhoknga District. Pretest and posttest data related to behavior (knowledge, attitudes, and actions) were collected through interviews using a questionnaire. Data processing includes the stages of editing, coding, entry, and tabulating. Data analysis was performed bivariate, using t-dependent tests at 95% CI.Results: This study has shown that there is a significant difference (p= 0.000) between knowledge, attitudes, and actions of mothers before training and after training on the use of iodized salt in the household.Conclusion: The provision of educational training on the use of iodized salt through leaflet media apparently has a statistically significant effect
