Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing nutrients with additional fertilizers at the beginning of different times on the growth of Spirulina sp. This research was conducted in December 2020 at the Hangtuah University Laboratory. This study used a one factorial completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications, namely A = no supplementary fertilizers, B = supplementary fertilizers on day 3 at a dose of 0.5 ml / L, C = administration supplementary fertilizer on day 4 at a dose of 0.5 ml / L, D = supplementary fertilizer on day 5 at a dose of 0.5 ml / L, E = supplementary fertilizer on day 6 at a dose of 0.5 ml / L . The results of the kruskal wallis test showed that there was no effect of giving nutrients with additional fertilizers at the beginning of different times on the growth of Spirulina sp. The ANOVA results show that there is an effect of providing nutrients with additional fertilizers at the beginning of different times on the daily growth rate of Spirulina sp.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of seaweed waste flour to feed ration on growth, Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR), and Survival Rate (SR) of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). The method used is an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications with a composition of different treatment additives bran and flour seaweed waste A (0%), B (1: 1), C (2: 1), D (1: 2). Test animals used were red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) With an average weight of 6-12 grams. Fish kept for 30 days. The results showed that the highest absolute growth was achieved in feed C of 3.15 grams, the highest specific growth rate was achieved in feed A of 1.059%, the best feed conversion ratio was obtained in feed A which was 0.51% and the highest Survival Rate was achieved in feed B amounted to 76.67%.

Abstract

MAS (Motile aeromonas septicemia) disease is a disease caused by Aeromonas hydrophil bacteria which usually attacks fish in the waters and often results in mass death. Several types of plants are known to treat the disease, including Majapahit leaves (Crescentia cujete L). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of majapahit leaf powder (Crescentia cujete L) on tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) which had been infected by MAS (Motile aeromonas septicemia). The research method uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications namely; treatments A (7.5%), B (10%), and treatment C (12.5%). The results showed the right dose to increase SR Survive rate and the highest phagocytosis index in tilapia was in C treatment, which was the addition of 12.5% ​​of Majapahit leaf powder to feed.

Abstract

Humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) is one of the export fisheries commodities with high economic value in the Asian market, especially Hong Kong and Singapore. Seeing that the fishing intensity is increasing, it is suspected that it has threatened the sustainability of the population in nature. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of feed on the growth and development of gonads of the second derivative humpback grouper broodstock (G-2). The individuals used were G-2 grouper fish with a weight range of 350-370 g / fish and a total length of 28,2 - 29,2 cm. The tank used is a round fiber tank with a volume of 500 l, each of which is filled with 7 humpback grouper fish. The treatments were: (A) dry pellet feed; (B) fresh feed and (C) mixed feed between dry pellets and fresh fish. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results showed that the feeding effect of fresh feed could stimulate the development of oocyte of the second generation of humpback grouper broodstock. The best weight growth was in treatment (B) with an average weight of : 622.4 ± 0.6 g. the largest oocyte diameter was in treatment (B) : 423.3 ± 2.9 μm.

Abstract

Grouper is an important fish species of mariculture in Indonesia. One of production constraint in grouper culture is mortality due to marine leech (Zeylanicobdella arugamensis) infection. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of three different onions (shallot, garlic, and leek) extract with different concentrations and immersion time against marine leech under laboratory condition. The concentration of onion extract tested were 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.12%, and 1.6%, respectively. Sterile sea water without onion extract was used as control. The mortality of leech in each concentration was observed every 30 minutes for 2 hours by transfer them into petri dish filled with 50 ml of sterile sea water. Result showed that garlic extract more effective than shallot and leek against marine leech. Garlic extract at concentration of 3.12% killed 100% of marine leech after 60 minutes immersion, whereas leek extract effective killed 100% of marine leech at concentration of 12.5% after 60 minutes and shallot at concentration of 25%, respectively. Garlic extract showed good potency to be used as a herb to control marine leech infection in grouper culture.
