Abstract

This study aims to find out: 1) the influence of application of cooperative learning model based on empowerment of thinking (PKBPB) to the learning outcomes of science; 2) the influence of academic ability on science learning outcomes; and 3) the influence of PKBPB model interaction with academic ability on science learning outcomes. This study uses a population sample consisting of 98 students from 4 classes. This research is a quasi-experimental research using factorial design 2 x 2. Data collection is done by test. Data were analyzed using covariance analysis with the help of SPSS 18 for windows program. The result of data analysis shows that: 1) there is influence of PKBPB model implementation toward science learning result (F = 6.065 and p <0.05); 2) there is influence of students' academic ability on science learning outcomes (F = 6.171 and p <0.05); and 3) there is no interaction between PKBPB and non PKBPB model with academic ability on science learning outcomes (F = 0.486 and p = 0.487).

Abstract

This research includes descriptive research type which aimed to describe profile problem solving ability of high school student in Mataram City. As a sample of research are students of SMAN 3, SMAN 6, SMAN 7, and SMAN 8 Mataram. Data were collected using a problem-solving test. The collected data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively using percentage and mean then categorized qualitatively. From the result of research known that problem solving ability of high school student in Mataram City still categorize less and medium (specially taught by PBL) and not yet reached the level of category good and very good.

Abstract

Cattle are an important component in a farming system in West Nusa Tenggara. Farmers' lives can hardly be separated from livestock, although the basic needs of the farm family are met from food crops. Cow dwelling system, especially in Lombok Island using cages gathering (collective cage), so the security of cattle more secure and coaching more easily implemented. The demand for cattle from West Nusa Tenggara continues to increase as the Bali cattle from West Nusa Tenggara are free from disease (Mouth, Nails, Brucellosis, and SE). Adaptability is quite good and high fertility and purity is more assured. The increasing rate of demand is expected to have exceeded the production capability, which tends to decrease the population of cattle. If the development of Bali cattle with integrated management based on collective cages applied to all areas in West Nusa Tenggara is expected to grow Bali cattle breeding centers in rural areas with superior production, uniform and continuous so as to support the provision of seed and beef cattle in West Nusa Tenggara . To find out the prospect of development of Bali Cow breeding centers on marginal land to support the supply of beef cattle in West Nusa Tenggara has been done by survey method from January to December 2012 in 10 regencies / cities as West Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

This study aims to develop science-oriented learning devices oriented to a decent 5E learning cycle to empower the thinking skills and understanding of the concept of junior high school students. The development of the tool is based on the Dick & Carey development model (2009), and is implemented in the seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Satap Pringgabaya, East Lombok, by using one group pre-test and post-test design. Based on the research that has been done, there are some findings that is, the value of learning learning device validity ranges from 3 - 4, the average has good category, and the reliability of learning devices developed ranges between 90.84% - 98.83%. The lessons that have been implemented have good category, the students enthusiastically follow the learning activity, the level of legibility of the textbook developed at the instructional level, the most dominant activity done by the students during the activity is measuring, observing and / or doing practicum, working on LKS, and answer (give) responses. Learning cycle 5E has been implemented is a new learning model for students, students feel happy with the 5E learning model, because it can empower the thinking skills and understanding of student concepts, and the average level of thinking and understanding of students are at the relational level, with a percentage of 45.67%. Based on the results of research that has been implemented, it can be concluded that, learning tools developed feasible, practical, and effective, so it can be applied to empower the skills of thinking and understanding of concepts.

Abstract

National education is expected to produce intelligent Indonesian man, solve life problems and form human beings who are able to think creatively. The result of early observation in SMA Al-Ma'arif NU Al-Manshuriyah Bonder, found the problem among the students are less active in thinking cretif, ask, and learning outcomes are still relatively low. This quasi experimental research was conducted with the aim to know the Effectiveness of Problem Based Learning Model on Improving Creative Thinking Ability and Cognitive Learning Outcomes of Grade X High School Al-Ma'arif NU Al Manshuriyah Bonder. The design used was the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design in two classes taken at random, the XB class as an experimental class taught by Problem Based Learning Model and class XA as control class which was taught by lecture and question and answer method. Data of creative thinking ability and cognitive learning result data were collected by test technique and analyzed by t-test at 5% significance level. The results showed that, the ability of creative thinking in the experimental class and control class has a value of tcount = 5.26 ˃ ttabel = 2.11. While student learning result indicate that thitung (7,75) > ttable (1,671). Based on the results of research can be concluded that Problem-Based Learning Model affects the improvement of creative thinking skills and student cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of Salmonella thypimurium in spleen Balb / c mice given curcumin white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria). The pure compound curcumin is thought to be an imonomodulator that will boost the immune system even though it has been infected using pathogenic bacteria. Oral administration for seven days is expected curcumin compounds have been entered in every body tissue, so it can optimize body function even if given the infection that will inhibit and disrupt the organ. This study used 24 mice with control treatment (aquadest), curcumin, curcumin and infection, the last infection alone. Infection was administered on day 7 by injecting a dose of 105 CFU Salmonella thypimurium on the intraperitoneal (Ip) portion. On the 10th day all mice were killed and their lept spies were aseptic for bacterial colonies observation. Observation of bacterial colonies in spleen of mice was done by plate method, cultured on selective medium of Salmonella Sigella Agar (SSA), After incubation for 24 hours (1 day) no bacterial colonies were found on SSA media. In each treatment either control, curcumin, curcumin and infections or infections alone. This is because the number of Salmonella thypimurium bacteria infecting mice is too small. By infecting mice using Salmonella thypimurium only 10% of the germs that can survive and live in the body of mice. 1 hour after intravenous or intraperitoneal infection, more than 90% of the inoculated germs are captured and destroyed by phagocytes. The remaining amount is only 10%, so generally this disease does not cause death.

Abstract

Based on observations made in SMAN 1 Pemenang of North Lombok Regency found that the classical completeness obtained far from the indicator that has been determined. The low learning outcomes of students are thought to occur because the presentation is more frequent using conventional methods and no practicum activities. The Nature of Science (NOS) Learning Model invites students to be able to train students 'skills in improving the skills of process skills so as to enhance their cognitive abilities and foster students' literacy skills. This type of research is classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, evaluation and reflection. The purpose of this study is to improve cognitive abilities and foster students' literacy skills. The instruments used in this research are test sheets and observation sheets. Research data in the form of students' cognitive abilities taken with the technique of test in the form of multiple choice and description obtained the results of learning completeness 61.53% in the first cycle and 85.00% in the second cycle. While the data of science literacy capability is taken with observation technique which is done in every cycle with observation technique obtained the average score of students science literacy ability of 72 in the first cycle and 85.93 in the second cycle which is included in the category is very high and is in the range of 81.25 - 100. Implementation of the Nature of Science (NOS) model can improve students' cognitive abilities and literacy skills.

Abstract

In general, oyster mushroom cultivated in the hulls made from black plastic cover. Lack of use of black plastic cover material is its nature that is easily damaged or torn due to the sometimes hot or rainy weather and in the dry season the growth of the fungus is hampered due to low humidity and high air temperature, for it needs a research that aims to anticipate the condition. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of the use of evaporative pad on the home of oyster-walled oyster mushroom in order to maintain its productivity. The methodology used in this study includes the collection of environmental temperature data and room temperature, air humidity, fungus weight, solar radiation. Data analysis used is graphical analysis and statistical analysis. The results show that the evaporative pad produces the best conditions for fungal growth. The method produces an air temperature of 27.33 oC, an air humidity of 92.2%. Results of production in control buildings 814.2 grams and buildings with evaporative pad 1014.5 gr.

Abstract

Research on the Activity of Antibacterial Extract of Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.) on Growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus viridans In Vitro has been done. The aim of this research was to know the antibacterial activity of Kencur extract (Kaempferia galanga L.) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus viridans bacteria and to know MIC and MBC values were done by dilution method on MHB media. The main ingredients used in this study were dried kencur rhizome extracted by using ethanol solvent. The kencur extract from the extraction result was then tested for antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus viridans with the concentrations used were 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% and 70%. The results showed that kempur extract (Kaempferia galanga L.) at 70% concentration had antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus of 15 mm and Streptococcus viridans of 16 mm. MIC tests on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus viridans bacteria were at concentrations of 38% and MBC on growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus viridans bacteria was at concentrations of 40%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of STAD type cooperative learning model along with the image media to the basic science process skills and biology learning outcomes of students of class VII MTs Al-Raisiyah Sekarbela. The type of research used is quasi experimental research (quasi experiment). The population in this research is all students of class VII MTs Al-Raisiyah Sekarbela. The sample used in this study were students of class VIIB totaling 22 people as an experimental class and students of class VIIA which amounted to 22 people as a control class. Sampling in this research using purposive sample technique. The data of the basic science process of the students was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed 85% of experimental class students have basic science process skills with very good category, 75% others with good category. While in the control class, 71% of students had basic science process skills with good category, 57% others with less good category. Data of learning result in this research is taken by giving the initial test and final test to the sample class student. Data collection techniques use objective tests that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis technique using t-test test formula. The result of the final test showed that the average of experiment class is 73,22 and control class is 71,45. The result of data analysis shows thitung equal to 3,72 and ttable 2,021. Obtained thitung > ttable at 5% significance level and degrees of freedom of 44, so that Ha accepted or no influence STAD type cooperative learning model along with the media images of student learning outcomes. The conclusion in this research is that there is influence of STAD type cooperative learning model along with the picture media to basic science process skill and biology learning result of grade VII student of MTs Al-Raisiyah Sekarbela.
