Bioscientist : Jurnal Ilmiah Biologi (BJIB), receiving and publishing article in the form of research (scientific article) in the field of biology education and utilization of biological research in learning. Moreover, this journal bridges the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas and opinion, in addition to critical examinations of biology research and teaching. Through the coverage of policy and curriculum developments, the latest results of research into the teaching, learning and assessment of biology are brought to the fore. Special emphasize are as follow: 1. Research on Learning Biology (Biology Learning Materials at All Education Levels). 2. Pure Research of Biology Developed or Studied to the Sources, Materials, or Instructional Media Biology (Biology Learning Materials at All Education Levels and Application in Society). 3. Curriculum of Biology Education at all Education Levels. 4. Class Action Research (CAR) and Lesson Study in Biology. 5. Other Qualitative Research of Biology Education. 6. The School Management and Biology/Science Laboratory Management. 7. Biology Learning Evaluation. 8. Teacher Professional Issues/Trends in Biology Education. 9. Abstract

The complex material of the nervous system often makes high school students feel challenged due to limited teaching time and monotonous learning media. Designing an interactive and enjoyable edugame can simplify students' understanding of abstract concepts and increase their motivation to learn. This study aims to develop an educational game on the nervous system that is valid and practical as a recommended learning medium for high school students. The development uses the Multimedia-Based Instructional Design model by Lee & Owens, which consists of analysis, design, development and implementation, and evaluation. The sample in this study consists of 32 high school students majoring in Science. The data analysis of the validation results is done using a percentage formula, while the questionnaire reliability is analyzed using Cronbach's alpha. The results of media validation showed a score of 95%, material validation reached 100%, validation by practitioners obtained 95%, and the practicality test of the media achieved 96.7%. This educational game on the nervous system can be recommended as one of the learning media for the nervous system material.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to increase the motivation and science process skills of second semester biology students in the Plant Morphology course using the Environmental Exploration (JAS) method. The background to this research is the lack of direct use of learning resources from nature by students, learning resources usually come from books, direct materials and learning media provided by course lecturers. The subjects in this research were biology students at the Mandalika Education University (UNDIKMA) second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The type of research used is PTK using questionnaire instruments and observation sheets. The results of research on the implementation of the use of environmental exploration methods can increase students' learning motivation in cycle II, showing the highest score, namely 168 and the lowest score, namely 129, with an average score of 148.34 from a total sample of 25 students. This indicates an increase in students' learning motivation and can improve students' science process skills in plant morphology courses in the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

Studies on contemporary scientific education have shown that classroom teaching has an impact on students' use of literacy-deficient practical exercises. Consequently, the existing approach of teaching science is significantly deficient and must be substituted. The objective of this descriptive qualitative research is to assess the effectiveness of the Science Literacy-Based Practicum Method in Science Instruction for seventh grade students at SMP Swasta Bhayangkari 3. The sample for this study consisted of thirty seventh graders from SMP Swasta Bhayangkari. Both teachers and students were provided with a questionnaire to complete, and data was gathered via interviews based on their responses. The results indicate that 19.94% of students demonstrate a strong understanding of scientifically explaining phenomena. Additionally, 8.60% of students are able to evaluate and design scientific investigations, while 9.28% of students understand how to interpret data and evidence. According to the findings of this research, integrating a practicum focused on literacy into the learning process is an effective method for promoting student performance and attaining learning goals.
