Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the implementation of education in Indonesia to be carried out online. Some lessons that require practice, such as Biology, experience obstacles. The solution that has been carried out is by conducting independent experiments, but this cannot facilitate practicum on submicroscopic materials such as cells. The availibility of a virtual laboratory during a pandemic that is effective, efficient, and economical is urgently needed. The purpose of this study was to produce an interactive online microscope, test the validity of the media, and test the effectiveness of the media. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Malang in grade 11 D3. This online microscope was developed by Lee and Owens (2004) including Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. The Analyze stage produced need assessment and front-end analyze data. The Design stage produced material and media designs. The Development stage produced an interactive online microscope with a material validation value of 93%, media validation 88%, and a practicality test of 96%. The Implementation phase was not carried out. In Evaluation stage, an evaluation is carried out for media evaluation. It can be concluded that this online microscope is practical and valid to meet the needs of online practicum

Abstract

Based on data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2021, household and food waste production in Indonesia is the highest. This waste has not been utilized optimally because the habit of the Indonesian people in sorting waste is still low. Meanwhile, organic waste derived from food waste can be used as liquid organic fertilizer. Liquid organic fertilizers are more practical and easily absorbed by plants. This community service activity aims to improve students' knowledge and skills in making liquid organic fertilizers. The method used is counseling, demonstration, and training on making LOF involving class XI students of SMAN 8 Malang. This activity results in the increased knowledge and skills of students in manufacturing LOFs. In general, this service activity went smoothly. The suggestion for the next activity was to develop a type of LOF from specific materials based on its largest constituent element so that this LOF will be easier to apply according to to plant needs.

Abstract

Technological developments in various fields are the key to progress in the digital era. The utilization of technology-based learning media in education makes learning more interactive and supports independent learning. This study aims to develop and test the practicality and effectiveness of storyline-based nervous system e-comics media to support students' independent learning. This research uses the Research and Development (RnD) method with the Lee & Owen model, consisting of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research was conducted with the subjects in this study, class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 2 Malang students, totalling 60 people. A pre-experimental design of one group pretest-posttest was used to test the effectiveness of the media. Data were collected through questionnaires and tests. The media validation results obtained 100%, material validation 100%, and student response results 98.7% in the class trial. The effectiveness test used a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The results showed a significant difference between the posttest of both classes with Sig. (2-tailed) 0.00 <0.05, there is a significant difference between the control and experimental classes. Storyline-based nerve e-comic media can facilitate independent learning more interestingly and interactively.

Abstract

The biological concept has a broad scope and requires the visualisation of bioprocesses to provide complex understanding. Learning media can help visualise bioprocesses to enhance students’ cognitive abilities. The study aimed to develop, test the practicality, and test the effectiveness of video animation in improving grade XI high school students’ und erstanding of the coordination system. This study involved 66 high school students in grade XI of the science department at State Senior High School 2 Malang, Indonesia. This research used the Lee & Owens Multimedia-Based Instructional Design method, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the evaluation stage, we conducted face validity by media experts and content validity by material experts, successively getting results of 97% and 100%. Then, the concurrent validity test was obtained from student assessments of the media interface with a result of 97%, the user-friendly with a result of 100%, and the appropriateness of the material with a result of 95%. In the final stage, construct validity was carried out through an effectiveness test using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. Data analysis was performed using the Independent T-test, with the results showing a significance of 0.006 < 0.05, which showed a significant difference in the average post-test between the control and experimental classes. The average score in the experimental class increased from 76.32 to 89.03, but the control class increased from 76.38 to 84.56. The results showed that the video animation media effectively improved students’ abilities. Therefore, this learning media can be a recommendation in the learning coordination system.

Abstract

Technology has provided new educational opportunities, but the implementation could be more optimal. Learning facilities that remain focused on conventional methods often need more learners with the Visual, Audio, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning style. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of this learning media in improving learning achievement and information retention, focusing on visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles. This research was a research development that used the Lee & Owens model, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validation result of the media was 98.5%, material validation was 100%, and learning device validation was 100%. The results of the implementation of self-assignment in the control class obtained an average of 78.8 and in the experimental class 90.5. The research concluded that learning media is practical and can help facilitate biology learning in visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles.

Abstract

The batik industry in Pacitan well known for its unique motifs of pace plants. The batik production process was carried out at least three times, so that the volume of disposal of batik wax waste into the environment becomes greater. Ecoprint training is an activity carried out with the aim of facilitating the community in the context of training in making Ecoprint batik and utilizing digital media to create ecobranding batik. The method in this activity used the ABCD (Asset-based Community Development) method starting with pre-implementation, execution, implementation, and results. The first meeting provided ecoprint training by providing an understanding of all ecoprint making activities from exploring materials, laying leaves to form motifs, explaining pounding and steam techniques, fixation, and drying. The second meeting provided digital branding training by providing understanding and practice related to creating digital product branding. The results of this activity are Ecoprint batik and the creation of logos and product content on social media. This activity shows positive impacts including preserving nature and culture, increasing income, and increasing environmental awareness.
