Abstract

The mixing process of materials in the manufacture of compounds in the tire industry is highly dependent on the temperature stability in the mixer chamber. Operators' lack of knowledge about the actual chamber temperature often causes MV (Mooney Viscosity) problems, which affect the quality of the compound. One of the causes is the lack of a real-time temperature monitoring system. To address this issue, a temperature indicator device was designed and developed, equipped with a type-K thermocouple sensor, temperature controller, Arduino, and a visual alarm system. One of the key focuses in developing this device was the design and strength of the sensor mounting frame and panel. The frame was designed using ASTM A36 and AISI 304 materials, and its strength was analyzed in terms of load and welded joints. Test results showed that the device operates stably and safely, and the frame can support the entire system effectively. With this device, temperature monitoring of the chamber becomes more effective, and the potential for MV issues can be significantly reduced.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology (IT) has encouraged various industrial sectors to adopt digitalization to improve efficiency and productivity. PT. TKP, a Mining company in Indonesia, faces challenges in the manual maintenance and monitoring process that makes monitoring ineffective and prone to errors. This study aims to overcome these problems by designing and building an electronic website-based asset information system. This digitalization process is expected to reduce ineffectiveness when monitoring assets, facilitate asset maintenance scheduling, and improve operational efficiency. The methods used include application modeling using the CodeIgniter framework and the PostgreSQL database. The results of the study show that digitalization and the use of information technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness in data management. The implementation of this system is expected to bring significant improvements in the production process of PT. TKP and provide broader benefits in the manufacturing industry

Abstract

The high number of cross-folded scraps in the Bias Cutting process at PT. ABC is a major issue that affects both the efficiency and quality of motorcycle tire production. The main cause lies in inappropriate pressure settings that do not match the treatment thickness and the absence of an automatic pressure reduction system as the roll diameter decreases. This research aims to modify the automatic pressure roll system by integrating push buttons, distance sensors, and a Mitsubishi PLC to automatically, stably, and securely regulate pressure. The method includes field observation, control system design, PLC programming, and pre- and post-modification data analysis. The results show that the system successfully adjusts the pressure based on treatment thickness via push buttons and gradually reduces pressure using signals from the distance sensor. This implementation achieved a scrap reduction of 68.51%, saved production costs up to Rp 427,741,879.5, and produced a benefitcostratio of 44.37 with a payback period of only 8.11 days. These results confirm that the system modification effectively enhances the quality and efficiency of the production process.

Abstract

The cyanide mixing process in the PT CBA reagent area was previously carried out manually, which was not only inefficient, but also required a long time for one mixing process and also increased occupational safety risks due to exposure to hazardous chemicals. This research aimed to design and build an automation system using an Allen-Bradley PLC and a Citect SCADA to replace this manual process. The system was developed using an ultrasonic sensor to measure liquid levels, with ladder diagram control logic on the PLC to regulate water filling, agitator activation, and valve operation automatically. Integration between the PLC and SCADA was carried out through the conversion of the DH+ protocol to Ethernet TCP/IP to enable real-time process monitoring and control from the HMI interface. Testing was carried out through program logic verification and interviews with 6 operators.

Abstract

Workers in the rigid foam block weighing area at PT IIA are exposed to ergonomic risks due to repetitive manual tasks and non-ideal working postures. These conditions can lead to musculoskeletal complaints and increase the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to design and develop an ergonomic digital weighing device using a load cell sensor to reduce occupational risks and improve production process efficiency. Postural analysis using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method was conducted to evaluate ergonomic risks prior to equipment design. The weighing tool was designed based on workers' anthropometric dimensions and tested to ensure weight measurement accuracy through calibration and sensor linearity testing. The test results show an average error rate of only 0.024%, which falls within the acceptable tolerance limits of the sensor. Therefore, the digital weighing device is considered ergonomic, accurate, and feasible for use in the production process.

Abstract

This study aims to design an automatic barcode rolling device based on an Arduino Uno microcontroller, with a focus on developing the electrical system as the main controller. The system consists of a DC motor as the main drive, a motor driver to control the direction and speed of the motor, a proximity switch as a sensor to detect the end of the paper, and a potentiometer to adjust the rotation speed. The electrical circuit is designed so that the rolling process can operate automatically and stop precisely without operator intervention. Processing time was measured using the time study method before and after the implementation of the device. The results showed that the manual rolling time of 183.7 seconds decreased to 87.2 seconds with the automatic device. The paired sample t-test produced a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant improvement. The achieved time efficiency of 52.5% proves that the designed electrical system significantly enhances the device’s performance.

Abstract

One of the main challenges faced by PT QPR is product failure in the form of under-cured tires during the curing process due to pressure shaping drop. The number of under cure scrap occurring on the TTC 16 curing machine in March 2025 was 9 pieces, which has been analyzed to be caused by the water content in the steam. Therefore, the design and construction of this automatic blowdown system are carried out with the aim of reducing the water content in the steam to decrease undercure scrap and maintain the quality of tire products. The design and development carried out include the addition of a pilot acting solenoid valve integrated with the Mitsubishi Q- Series PLC as an automatic control system, as well as the addition of a button on the Mitsubishi GOT2000 HMI for manual control. The results of the research conducted show that the control system on the automatic blowdown system can operate both automatically and manually effectively. The reduction in the number of under-cure scrap on the TTC 16 machine also occurred after the design and construction of the automatic blowdown system, amounting to 6 pieces over a period of 28 days.

Abstract

The manual process of submitting Work Order Forms (FPK) in the Engineering Section causes various obstacles such as late delivery, difficulty in recording, and low efficiency and data accuracy. This study aims to design and build a digital system in the form of a Kodular-based Android Application to make it easier for tenants to make work order requests to Engineering. The user interface is designed using the draw.io tool and the backend system uses PHP and MYSQL. This application allows users to access information and submit work requests practically through mobile devices. Test results show an increase in time efficiency of 70.36% and cost efficiency reaching 82.43% compared to the manual system. In addition, features such as the Complaint Form, Dashboard, Satisfaction Survey, Instructions and Profiles help speed up the user flow and minimize the risk of data loss. This system has also been tested using the black box method and shows good results. Thus, this digital system effectively supports digital transformation in engineering work processes.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop a web-based material supply information system to address delays in material delivery at the PPC Plant D Department of PT PCR. The previous system relied on Microsoft Excel with macros, which was considered inefficient due to its lack of real-time data updates. The new system was developed using PHP Native with a MySQL database and tested using the blackbox method. The results showed that the system could automatically display real-time material delivery data through features such as auto-refresh, auto- scroll, and search functionality. Additionally, the responsive interface allows for easier monitoring of delivery schedules between production departments. The implementation of this web-based system has proven to increase efficiency and effectiveness in material delivery to the Building process, reducing the average delay caused by material factors from 6.276% to 2.27%. Therefore, the web-based information system effectively improves the distribution process of materials in a manufacturing environment.
