Abstract

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not it was effective to use Know-Want-Learn (KWL) technique to improve students’ reading comprehension at the Fifth Semester Students of English Education Study Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. This research was done through Quasi-experimental method including technique for collecting the data and technique for analyzing the data. The population numbers was 36 students, and used the convenience non random sampling. Based on statistic analysis of independent sample t-test, the result of students’ score in experimental group and control groups that the value of t-obtained 5.224 was higher than t-test (1.671). It could be concluded that Ho (Null Hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted. The result of the students’ reading comprehension in the posttest of experimental group was (85.30) which were higher than control group which was not through (KWL) with (76.38) as the highest score. Abstract

In academic classes and professional settings, some researchers have indicated that context-based learning can affect students' academic success. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find research on the connection between the approach and students' reading achievement. Therefore, the researcher aimed to investigate how context-based learning affects students' reading success. It was a quantitative correlational research that included 63 individuals from the State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya. The data on context-based learning were collected from the viewpoints of the students The data regarding the dependent variable were collected through the score of the tests. The research found a strong and significant link between context-driven learning and achievement in reading (R = 0.679). The R-squared value was 0.462. It means that the contribution of contextual learning to students’ reading success was 46.2%. Additional variables not included in this model impacted the remaining 53.8%. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The aim of this research was to know how to design a video of New Ocarina as one of tourism destination in Batam using the steps of writing a script by Hanifa (2013). The methodology of this research was Research and Development Method (R&D) adapted from Plomp (1997). The steps were: (1) Preliminary Investigation, (2) Designing, (3) Realization/Construction, (4) Test, evaluation, and revision, (5) Implementation. In the preliminary investigation, the writer did a literature study and field study. In designing, the writer designs the script using Jakacaping (2018) format. Then, there is realization/construction. In this step the writer make first draft. After that, the writer did testing, evaluation, and revision by gave it to 5 experts. The experts were evaluating and giving comments to the script and video. After that the writer revised the script and the video. In conclusion the writer could make a script that has been testified by using Hanifa (2013) of steps writing script and research and methodology by Plomp (1997). Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study discusses the video copywriting process of Pempek Cek Yati using the modified Research and Development (R&D) method by Sukmadinata (2019). The purpose of this study was to outline the steps involved in creating the video copywriting, focusing on three stages: (1) Preliminary study; (2) Model Development; and (3) Product Drafting. There were seven experts of scriptwriting, English, and video editing participated in providing comments and suggestions chosen by purposive sampling. The data were collected by both observation, and interviews, and analyzed through a coding analysis by (Gale, Heath, Cameron, Rashid, & Redwood, 2013 and Furber, 2010). The findings revealed some areas needing improvement, as identified by each expert. The language experts suggested fixing some grammatical error in some parts of ad copy. The video experts suggested revising some parts of video such as changing the filter, adding the logo of institution, the size of subtitle, and adding contact person information. Abstract

This study explores the creation of a compelling copywriting script designed to promote the Palembang Bird Park. The methodology employed a systematic approach, encompassing idea generation, outline creation, research, material selection, message planning, structural arrangement, script drafting, testing, and finalization. Expert consultations were integral throughout the process, ensuring thoroughness and effectiveness. Data were gathered via observations and interviews, facilitating informed script development. Rigorous testing ensued, involving feedback from experts to refine content and language use. The outcome is a meticulously crafted script titled “Palembang Bird Park as a Tourism Destination in Palembang,” poised to captivate audiences and make a copywriting script to promote Palembang Bird Park.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The article aims to know the English Procedures Used by Tour Guide In Serving Foreign Tourists at Balaputradewa Museum as one of the tourism destinations in Palembang. The method used by the writer is a descriptive method. This method consists of a technique of collecting data. The data were collected through questionnaires and interviews about the information needed according to the existing phenomena. The data obtained from these methods served as the primary material for formulating the English procedures used by tour guides in serving foreign tourists at the museum. The developed procedures aim to improve the quality of interactions between the tour guide and the tourist. These procedures are poised to elevate the museum's reputation as a preferred destination for foreign tourists and contribute to a more immersive and enjoyable cultural experience for visitors from around the world.
