Abstract

PT. Indowire Prima Industrindo is a company that manufactures copper automotive cables. In the operational process, it causes noise to reach 79-103 dBA. The study was conducted to obtain an overview of risk factors in the production section, namely age, years of service, duration of exposure, and use of PPE.The study used an observational research design with a descriptive study method, with a total sample of 62 people chooses randomly. Data collected through interviews, observations, and measurements. The results of research at PT. Indowire found that only 21% of qualified workplace noise. Most workers (93.5%) are older than 40 years old and have a working period of more than 10 years of 22.6%. All workers in the production section get noise exposure for 7 hours/day, and 21% do not use PPE. This study of noise indicates a high risk for hearing loss. There is a need for technical control efforts, the implementation of a work rotation system, training on APT, as well as providing strict supervision and policies for workers who do not use APT in noisy workplaces

Abstract

Diarrhea affects the death of several people around the world. In Lampung Province, the morbidity rate for all age groups tended to increase in 2005-2014. The increase in cases also occurred in South Lampung Regency from 2016-2018, and the most in Taman Baru Village, Penengah District. The study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 267 households, which are all households in Taman Baru Village. Primary data were collected through a survey using a questionnaire and checklist. The collected data were processed and analyzed in a bivariate manner with the help of a computer program. The results showed a relationship between knowledge and application of the five pillars of STBM and the incidence of diarrhea. Community leaders and village officials fully support STBM activities. The people of Taman Baru Village have not carried out liquid waste management and household waste management, this factor can be the cause of the increasing incidence of diarrhea.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Data from the Tanjung Sari Health Center in South Lampung Regency shows that there has been an increase in cases in the last two years, 46 cases in 2015 and 47 cases in 2016. Until the end of semester 1 of 2017, an additional 33 cases were recorded. This study aims to determine the relationship between sex and the physical environment of the house with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis at Tanjung Sari Public Health Center. This study used an analytic survey method with a case-control design. The population is people who are registered as patients of Tanjung Sari Public Health Center, from January to June 2017. The sample is 74 people, consisting of 37 cases and 37 controls. The results showed that women predominantly suffer from pulmonary tuberculosis. The physical environment includes the area of ventilation, the presence of cross-ventilation, and the position of the window as risk factors for pulmonary TB disease. It is recommended that people get used to opening windows to maintain the availability of fresh air in the room and the entry of sunlight. Puskesmas should increase the capacity of cadres in providing knowledge on the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis to the community.

Abstract

Coloring substances in food are generally classified into two categories, namely natural dyes and synthetic dyes. Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye which is widely used in the textile industry. The use of Rhodamine B in food can cause irritation to digestion, inhalation, and eyes. This research was conducted to detect rhodamine B content in tomato sauce by adding detergent. The design of this study was a qualitative descriptive study conducted on tomato sauce on the market. The test results for the presence of rhodamine B in tomato sauce with the addition of detergent solution showed that from 6 samples examined, there were 4 samples that had a color change from bright red to pale red. The color change indicates that there is Rhodamine B in tomato sauce. Positive tomato sauce contains the harmful dye rhodamine B using a detergent solution as a medium to determine the content of synthetic dyes qualitatively.

Abstract

One of the efforts to utilize bagasse is activated carbon which can be used as an adsorbent for the pharmaceutical industry, foodstuffs, and water purification to remove odors, tastes and colors. So far, the raw materials for making activated carbon use coal and coconut shells, while the activator uses chemicals such as KOH, NaOH, H2SO4, HCl, and others. The manufacture of activated carbon is carried out in three stages, namely the process of dehydration, carbonization, and activation. Bagasse that has been dehydrated for 2 days using sunlight, is carbonized for 1 hour at a temperature of 4500C. Carbon is activated using starfruit extract with a ratio of extract: distilled water, 100%: 0%, 75%: 0%, 50%: 505, 25%: 75%, and the time is varied, namely for 4 hours, 8 hours, 16 hours, and 24 hours. From the research results as much as 4.000 grams of bagasse carbonized to produce 170 grams of carbon. The results of the analysis of the proximate content in bagasse activated carbon have met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 06–3730–1995), namely the best Total Moisture Content of 2.88%, the best Volatile Matter of 6.88%. The best ash was 3.11%. The best-fixed carbon was 86.30%. The iodine number produced from the bagasse activated carbon is 937.9686 mg / g.The Iodine number has met the requirements of the Indonesian Industry Standard (SII 0258-88), which is more than 750 mg / g, indicating that the activation of activated carbon using starfruit is very reactive. Starfruit can be used as an environmentally friendly activator in making activated carbon.

Abstract

Ectoparasites are parasites that live on rats as their hosts, and the port is one of the breeding grounds for rats that must be protected or a place that must be free from rats. Rats can contain ectoparasites that are harmful to human health. This study aims to see the description of ectoparasites in rats at Kuala Tungkal Port, Jambi Province. This study is an exploratory study, which describes ectoparasites in rats in the Kuala Tungkal Port Health Office with an area of 280,000 m2. The research was carried out by installing traps at points that represent the presence of rats. The results found 3 types of mice, namely Mus musculus, Rattus diardii, and Rattus norvegicus, the most types of mice found were Mus musculus. Xenopshylla cheopis ectoparasite was found in Rattus diardii rats. It is necessary to monitor and control rat eradication in the port working area, as well as improve sanitation.

Abstract

Market’s solid waste that has accumulated can cause air pollution in the form of an odor that disturbs market visitors, traders, and residents around the market. Solid waste that has accumulated is a breeding place for disease vectors, such as flies, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. This research aims to solve the problem of market waste management in the city of Bandar Lampung. Primary data obtained from survey results and direct measurements, namely the volume of waste generation, type of waste, and the composition of waste. Secondary data were obtained from market managers.Market waste management has not used the concept of waste reduction and waste management mandated in the Bandar Lampung City Laws and Regulations, the average amount of waste generation throughout the market is 46,747 kg/day, the average per day of each market ranges from 3,438 -11,703 kg/day. The type and composition of waste is an organic waste of 84.48% and inorganic waste of 15.52%. The economic potential of all market waste is Rp. 12,938,816/day or Rp. 388,164,480/month and Rp. 4,657,973,760/year. It is necessary to plan 3R TPS and socialize waste management following the mandate of Law No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management, as well as the Regional Regulation of the City of Bandar Lampung No. 5 of 2015 concerning Waste Management in the City of Bandar Lampung.
