Abstract

Coffee is one of the leading plantation commodities in Banten Province. There are challenges in developing this commodity. But there are also many opportunities and potentials from coffee cultivation. Various programs are implemented to increase production, productivity, and post-harvest development of coffee commodities, one of which is field schools. In 2021, a coffee cultivation field school be held in Cinangka District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. This study uses data from the pre-test and post-test results of field school teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to see the level of effectiveness of the field school. The purpose of this research is also to see the change of farmers' knowledge, before and after the program. This study uses the category of knowledge level analysis, Shapiro Wilk normality test, paired t-test, and analysis of the level of effectiveness. The results showed that the field school was able to change the knowledge level of farmers from the medium category (33.67%) to the high knowledge level category (70.50%). Based on the Shapiro Wilk normality test, the research databases were normally distributed in all pre-test post-test learning materials given. The calculation of paired t-test shows that there are differences in the level of knowledge of farmers before and after the field school, with the average t value for all materials at 24.510 and t table 2.045. The overall implementation of the field school shows a fairly effective level of effectiveness.

Abstract

Integrated Farming System (IFS) is a systems that combine livestock, aquaculture, agriculture and agro-industry in an expanded synergistic system, the waste of one process become the input for other process, with or without treatment to provide the means of production, such as energy, fertilizer, and feed for optimum productivity at minimum cost. There are two IFS models that implemented in Bali, integrated in unit at farmer (IFS unit) and integrated in area at group of farmer (IFS group). The level of implementation of IFS in both model is vary and it’s effect on farm income is still unknown. This study aimed to compare the performance of IFS model in farm unit and group. Analyse the factors that influance the performance of IFS. Analyze and compare the farm income and farm efficiency. Cross-secional data were collected from 67 farmer purposively selected. Descriptive analysis, analysis of farm income and R/C ratio were performed. The result indicated that the performance of IFS group model was higher than IFS unit model. The performance of IFS on both models were affected by farmers age, distance, farmers experience and road access. The income of IFS group model was higher and more efficient than IFS unit model. It’ imply that IFS should be applied to group model.

Abstract

Malang Regency is one of the areas that has a big influence on capture fisheries in East Java, especially in producing tuna. According to BPS data in 2017, tuna is second in export value after shrimp. Therefore, Malang has a strategic value in the development of capture fisheries, especially in commodities of tuna, mackerel and skipjack. this opportunity, can improve the regional economy, make a potential advantage and make this commodity competitive in the international market. In addition, the development of capture fisheries business, especially tuna commodity in Malang, must also be supported by government intervention that sided with fishermen. Data was collected by means of observation, interviews, and literature study. Sources of data used are primary and secondary data. The sample used is 13 ship owners. Respondents in this study consisted of: 4 manols, 10 pengambek, 13 ship owners and 3 wholesalers, so that the total respondents obtained were 30 respondents. The analysis used is sensitivity analysis using DRCR and PCR values. Sensitivity is seen by the change in the rupiah exchange rate of 10%. The results showed that under normal conditions the value of DRCR was 0.21 and the value of PCR was 0.46. Meanwhile, the strengthening and weakening of the rupiah against US$ 10% resulted in the DRCR value of 0.21 to 0.24. at the time of strengthening with the initial condition value from 0.23 to 0.21. Thus, the tuna fish business still has a comparative advantage despite the strengthening and weakening of the rupiah against the US$. From the results of this study, strategies to maintain the competitiveness of tuna commodities at Malang regency with changing conditions can be done by 1) optimizing the use of inputs 2) facilitating skilled fishermen and 3) using environmentally friendly technology in accordance with recommendations from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs. so that productivity increases so that it can meet the export quota.

Abstract

Poverty is one of the goals of development and is used as a measure of the success of development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of price policy on poverty alleviation in Indonesia. The research model is compiled using time series data with a research time span from 1981 to 2014. The specification of the model used is using an empirical study of econometric analysis, namely multiple linear regression. The results show that the price policy simulation has an effect on poverty alleviation by 0.025%, namely by implementing a urea fertilizer price policy of 25%, the application of a policy of reducing government purchasing prices by 25% can reduce poverty by 0.035%, a simulation of a policy of eliminating government purchasing prices can reduce poverty 0.142% and the policy simulation to increase irrigated area by 15% reduces poverty by 0.002% while the policy to import rice 0% has no effect on poverty alleviation.

Abstract

The use of pesticides with high doses and intensity has negative impacts both economically, ecologically, and socially. The economic impact is the dependence of farmer households on pesticides, and nationally the dependence of the country on foreign countries because 100% of the active ingredients of pesticides are imported. Counseling on the use of pesticides properly needs to be done so that farmers can appropriately use pesticides, in the right way and the right dose so as not to interfere economically, ecologically, and socially. One of the ways taken by the government in dealing with the problem of uncontrolled use of pesticides is by implementing an extension program on the use of pesticides. The counseling activity was carried out in one of the farmer groups, namely the Mukti Farmer Group located in Cibuntu Village, Wanayasa District, Purwakarta Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of farmers to counseling on the use of pesticides properly and correctly. Mukti Farmer Group has 60 members and the number of active members is 30 people. Farmers who became the sample were taken by simple random sampling of 15 farmers. Of the 15 samples, farmers tested the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions with indicators of the percentage of answers to the questionnaire that has been given. The results showed that there was a change in the knowledge of farmers regarding the proper and correct use of pesticides. The extension activities succeeded in changing the attitude of farmers in using pesticides effectively. After the implementation of the extension, farmers become wise in the use of pesticides under the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
