Abstract

Red Beetroot Tubers have the benefit of providing a natural colour in the manufacture of food products. In the red beetroot fruit, there is the pigment betacyanin which is a derivative of betalain. Betasianin is a red or violet pigment which is a group of polar flavonoids because it binds to nitrogen pigment sugars and is a substitute for anthocyanins. The purpose of this study was to determine which red beet tuber ethanol extract face serum formula (Beta vulgaris L.) was the best, based on the results of the physical evaluation (organoleptic, pH, dispersion, viscosity, homogeneity), proving the presence of antioxidant content based on qualitative testing using KLT and specific spotting (DPPH 0.4%) in each formulation. The result of this study is that the content of secondary metabolites of red beetroot tuber extract (Beta vulgaris L.) positively contains flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, quinones, saponins, and flavonoids, based on the results of the physical evaluation (organoleptic liquid textured and brownish-yellow in colour, pH (5.00), dispersion power (5.5), viscosity (1997), homogeneity test with homogeneous results and based on qualitative antioxidant activity tests using Thin Layer Chromatography and spotting appearance specific (DPPH 0.4%) is F2 because it has a more pronounced yellow spot colour against the background of a purple colour plate, this means that the red beet tuber face serum preparation contains a class of antioxidant compounds. So it can be concluded that the best formula is formula 2 because it has good dosage characteristics and is suspected to contain antioxidant compounds based on qualitative analysis

Abstract

Jengkol (Pithecellobium jiringa (Jack) Prain) is a plant that is very often used as a popular processed food ingredient. Based on previous research that the seeds and rind of jengkol have a hypoglycemic effect and reduce glucose levels, and other ingredients are alkaloids, saponins, quinone and flavonoids. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds and the TLC profile contained in the rind of jengkol at fractionation of n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The methods are screening phytochemical, column chromatography, and the TLC. The phytochemical test showed that the rind of jengkol contained terpenoid, flavonoid and saponin compounds. Fraction A was shown spot bluish-green with Rf value 0,64 by the TLC test. The result of the TLC test was indicated to- saponin compound which is characterized by the presence of foam. The result of ethyl acetate fractionation was shown as light blue on The TLC chromatogram with an Rf value of 0,47 which is characterized flavonoid test.

Abstract

Isotoma Longiflora Presi known as kitolod belongs to the Campanulaceae family. This plant is used as traditional medicine, and now continues to be in the process of moving towards conventional herbal medicine. Kitolod plants grow scattered on several islands in Indonesia, especially in the lowlands. This review article discusses the scientific journal of the kitolod plant which focuses on chemical compounds and also their pharmacological activities. All information exposure obtained from scientific literature such as scientific journals, the official website of the Minister of Health, books and also electronic books. Based on the results of a literature survey, Kitolod Plant (Isotoma Longiflora Presi). used in traditional medicine, used as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, and is also able to help treat glaucoma and hyperlepidemia. Phytochemical compounds contained in this plant are alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids and steroids. This finding was obtained from both in vivo and in vitro testing and analysis of Isotoma Longiflora Presi.

Abstract

Health problems are one of the most complex problems, the sanitation process in improving health with various uses of plants in the State of Indonesia. A country that will be rich in natural resources. As a form of serious treatment that improves health from various diseases in Indonesia, called by utilizing Parijoto fruit (Medinilla magnifica) by utilizing the active substances contained in the fruit in the form of flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids through in vitro and in vitro tests. In vitro which has important properties in the treatment process in Parijoto fruit, extract is made by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent for several properties such as antioxidant, antidiabetic, antiacne, anticholesterol, antihyperlipidemia, antibacterial, anti-breast cancer and toxicity to improve public health in Indonesia. In this review, primary data searches are conducted online, in the form of national and international journals, books and ebooks. The results obtained from several journals and other sources can be seen in various kinds of pharmacological activities of the active substances contained in parijoto (Medinilla magnifica)

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit the oxidation of lipids or other molecules by inhibiting the initiation or propagation of chain oxidation reactions. Exogenous antioxidants consist of natural antioxidants and synthetic antioxidants. Concerns about the side effects of using synthetic antioxidants that can increase carcinogenesis have encouraged the use of natural antioxidants as an alternative source of antioxidants. One source of natural antioxidants can be obtained from plant species that contain antioxidants, namely those from Piper betle L. This literature review article aims to determine the content of Piper betle L. betel leaf as an antioxidant. The literature search process used is Google Scholar, PubMet and Science Direct published in 2011-2021. And the search results found 12 articles with each article stating that Piper betle L. Has antioxidant activity which is included in the category of very strong IC50 values. This is because betel contains quercetin, phenolic compounds, chlorogenic acid, atoxin, eugenol and gallic acid

Abstract

The palm tree is a tree originating from Southeast Asia which belongs to the Aracecae family. Sugar palm is a plant that can be used to treat diseases. Palm fruit is rich in fiber (16.2%), protein (10.0%), minerals (7.9%), and (1.5%) fat. Roots, petioles, fruit, and palm seeds have pharmacological activity. According to several previous studies, palm root has activity as a diuretic. Then the palm leaf stalk has activity as a sunscreen. In addition, palm fruit seeds have antimicrobial activity and palm fruit itself has antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiphotoaging activities.
