Abstract

Indonesian students' critical thinking ability is still low. The lack of critical thinking skills occurs because students tend to memorize material and formulas rather than understand concepts, so that students are less trained in developing critical thinking skills.QThe aims of this study were (1) to find out the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model assisted by interactive media with ethnomathematics nuances on the mathematical critical thinking skills of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Adiwerna. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Adiwerna Tegal Regency for the academic year 2021/2022 consisting of 9 classes. The sample in this study was class 8I as an experimental class that was given learning using a problem-based learning model assisted by interactive media, class 8F as a control class that was given expository model learning and class 8A as a trial class. The research method used in this research is Quasi Experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. In this design, there are two groups selected by cluster random sampling. The research procedure consisted of four stages, namely the planning stage, the implementation stage, the data analysis stage and the conclusion drawing stage. Data collection techniques in this study include documentation, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis techniques in this study were individual completeness tests, classical completeness tests, average similarity tests. The results of this study are (1) the problem based learning model assisted by interactive media with ethnomathematics nuances is effective for mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research was carried out using a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method was used to analyze the learning process conducted with the Indonesian realistic mathematics education (PMRI) model. Meanwhile, the quantitative method was used to measure the level of student curiosity and the impact of RME model on curiosity. The effectiveness of RME model was assessed by examining the teaching materials, which had been validated by an expert validator. The results indicated that the teaching materials were valid and suitable for the learning process. To evaluate the level of student curiosity, data collection was performed through questionnaire administration, which revealed that 64% of the students had a high level of curiosity. Furthermore, to determine the extent of PMRI model's impact on curiosity, a quantitative method was used, indicated that 2.5% of the fraction concepts understanding was influenced by student curiosity.

Abstract

The direction or aim of the research is to determine the effectiveness of Student Teams Achievement Division learning through the use of derivative board teaching aids on mathematics learning outcomes. The research approach used is a quantitative approach and the research design used is a non-equivalent pretest posttest quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was class XI students at SMA N 5 Tegal City. Random sampling was taken by lottery with class XI IPA 1 students as the trial group , XI IPA 2 as the control group , and XI IPA 3 as the experimental group . In testing validity , point biserial correlation is used . For reliability testing, kr 20 is used . The prerequisite test is carried out using a normality test using the Liliefors test. Then the f test is carried out as a homogeneity test. The testing carried out resulted in 30 valid questions out of the 35 questions created. The results of research on the hypothesis obtained F count = 5.46 and F table = 3.98 so the calculated F is greater than the F table , namely 5.46 > 3.98, so it can be concluded that there is a difference in the learning outcomes of students in the STAD learning model using derivative board teaching aids and the conventional learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to describe student’s mathematical problem solving abilities assisted by animated video media. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. The learning media used is Canva-based animated video media. The research subjects were class VII F students of SMP Negeri 3 Brebes Semester II for the 2022/2023 academic year. Subjects were taken using random sampling from written essay test scores for 6 subjects, namely 2 subjects with high mathematical problem solving abilities, 2 subjects with moderate mathematical problem solving abilities, and 2 subjects with low mathematical problem solving abilities. Data collection techniques in this study used tests, interviews, and documentation. According to Polya, the indicators of mathematical problem-solving ability are (1)understanding the problem, (2)devising a plan, (3)carrying out the plan, and (4)looking back. Based on the results of the study showed that: high problem-solving ability fulfill 4 indicators of mathematical problem-solving ability there are understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Moderate problem-solving ability fulfill 3 indicators of mathematical problem-solving ability there are understanding the problem, carrying out the plan, and looking back or there are understanding the problem, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Low problem-solving ability fulfill 1 indicator of mathematical problem-solving ability there is understanding the problem,or does not fulfill all indicators.

Abstract

Abstract. The large volume of society can cause problems if it is not commensurate with improving the quality of human resources. A factor that can support human resource capacity is improving the quality of education. High school student data has quite diverse data. With a case study at a high school in Brebes Regency, this experiment is used as a basis for predicting the distribution of high school graduates in the following year. The data mining process is assisted by the WEKA application. The classification used is a support vector machine classification based on forward selection to determine the attributes that are most influential in prediction. The highest results from the SVM experiment were obtained by kernel anova with an accuracy value of 96.17%. Then the FS-SVM algorithm with anova kernel parameter C of 0.5 with an accuracy level of 99.71%. Keywords: High School, Course, Data, Classification

Abstract

Education at the High School level (SMA) plays a crucial role in shaping students' critical thinking, which is an essential skill for success in both the educational and everyday life contexts. This research investigates how students' critical thinking skills can be enhanced through the implementation of the Independence Problem-Based Learning (IPBL) Mathematics Learning Approach in the high school environment. This study explains the concept of critical thinking, the importance of critical thinking in education, and the framework of Independence Problem-Based Learning (IPBL). The research methodology includes research design, population, sample, research instruments, and the process of IPBL implementation. The research findings reveal changes in students' critical thinking abilities after participating in IPBL learning and measure students' perceptions of this approach. In the discussion, this research evaluates the impact of IPBL-based Mathematics learning on students' critical thinking abilities, analyzes the factors influencing the success of IPBL, and highlights the implications of these research findings in the context of improving education at the high school level. The results of this research provide a better understanding of the potential of Independence Problem-Based Learning (IPBL) Mathematics Learning to enhance learning outcomes in high school and promote the development of mathematics teaching methods focused on improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Based on the researcher's experience, in Linear Program lectures there is a tendency for students to be less active so that the spirit in the learning process seems to be absent. In solving problems, students tend to follow the completion steps outlined by the lecturer. This may be due to the low ability of students to make mathematical models. One of the factors causing the low ability to make mathematical models is the limited teaching materials according to student abilities. One of the efforts that can be made to increase the ability to make mathematical models in the Linear Program course is to develop a Simplex Solver application that is suitable for student conditions. The purpose of developing the Simplex Solver application is for students to feel the convenience of studying Linear Programming courses so that the objectives of this course can be achieved. This type of research is development research. Data collection used by means of validation, observation, questionnaires, interviews and tests. Validation is carried out to determine the validity of the Simplex Solver application development. Observations, questionnaires and interviews were conducted to find out the practicality of developing the Simplex Solver application. The test was conducted to find out whether the development of the Simplex Solver application could improve the mathematical representation skills of Mathematics Education students at Pancasakti University, Tegal
