Abstract

Abstract - Islamic banks today have rapid growth around the world. According to Solé (2007), Islamic banks exist not only in the countries that have a majority Muslim population, but also countries where Muslim are not predominant. From Indonesian Banking Statistics data in 2004-2013, Islamic banks have higher LDR than conventional banks. The main issue in this research is whether Islamic banks can maintain their efficiency while they increasing their performance. The hypothesis of this research is the efficiency of Islamic banking is higher and statistically significantly different from conventional banking. This research uses output-oriented VRS DEA model with asset approach to measure efficiency. Then, Mann-Whitney test used to compare the DEA results since the results show non-parametric data. Lastly, Spearman’s correlation will be applied in order to analyze the relationship between loans to deposit ratio with the efficiency of both types of the bank. The DEA and Mann-Whitney test results prove that Islamic banking is significantly different and more efficient than conventional banks in the period of 2004-2013. It proved by DEA results in 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. In these years, Islamic banks are statistically significant more efficient than conventional banks. Then this result was supported by single-multi year efficiency that proved that Islamic banks are significantly different and more efficient than conventional banks. The Spearman’s correlation findings identifies there is significant correlation between LDR and efficiency of both types of bank at significance level 0.01. The Spearman’s correlation coefficient is 0.293, which means there is a weak relationship between LDR and efficiency of both types of the bank. This research’s results can be used as consideration for the government to assign Islamic banks to support real sector since Islamic banks allocate most of their fund to financing (lending) products. Furthermore, intermediary and production approach can be considered to apply in the future research to get better insight. The lack of explanation why Islamic banking is significantly different and more efficient than conventional banking can be a topic of the future research. Keywords: asset approach, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), efficiency, Islamic banks

Using non-probability sampling method, the questionnaire was spread to 150 respondents in Bandung with age 18-34. After the responses screened and proved valid and reliable, it was analyzed using Path Analysis to investigate the relationship between variable. The results of this research reveal that the there are three variables which is Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefit and General Health Orientation that make significant relation to Willingness to Use as well as Willingness to Use also make significant relation to Willingness to Pay. Not all of the hypotheses in this research are supported by the result. However, the result related to the previous study by Masoud et al. (2014). Abstract — A startup organization is a recently made organization that is in the development stage and still looking into the potential markets. Every startup has its own plan of action and different structures. The objects of the research are Goodism (est. 2013), Woodka (est. 2013) and Humblezing (est. 2010). This research is a qualitative study which uses one of the organizational development theories, which is appreciative inquiry (AI) which focuses on the organization’s learning and positive presumption from its member. Job design factor and performance management system components are the literature that will be guided this study. Moreover, the researcher position in this research is the conductor of the appreciative inquiry method. Data collection is using the qualitative approach, which are semi-structured interview. The questions that will be answered by the Board of Directors’ are following the appreciative inquiry processes. The data analysis is using the qualitative content analysis with deductive approach. This research finds that in making the job design, Goodism should decide the objectives that will be attained in the working period, every member has to decide their own portion of work, the member is working based on their interest, also the implementation of working hour and rotation between divisions seen as appropriate to be implemented. In making performance management system, Woodka should consider that every member should be involved in planning the target and deadline and relating their own activities which interconnected with other activities, monthly review seen as the appropriate one because it can be customized with the production schedule, implementation of feedback can be face-to-face and the reward system that may be conducted is rewarding the good performance punishing the bad performance by the member. In making the performance management system, Humblezing should consider that the control system to the job that is ongoing is essential, the target and deadline can be derived from the company’s objective and the measurement of the performance and return for a job should be clear, monthly & weekly review can be done to detect the problem in a job faster and every member has got to know the other member’s work progress, and monetary (such as bonus salary) and non-monetary (such as member trip) compensation may be conducted. Keywords: organizational development, appreciative inquiry, job design, performance management system

Abstract

The increasing number in population means higher demand for food. Threats in agricultural production such as pests, loss of soil fertility and lack of nutrients may result in low percentage of plants to harvest. If these problems are not addressed, there would not be enough crops which compose a big fraction of our food supply to sustain the needs of the people. Hence, the importance of using fertilizers rises. Fertilizers are substances containing chemical elements such as mixture of nitrates that improves the growth of plants. Based on Fertilizer Outlook 2010 -2015 from Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), production of cereals and oilseeds is projected to expand steadily from 2010 until 2015, with higher growth rates for soybean and maize vs. wheat and rice. Yield improvements would dominate the outlook. Some area expansion is seen in countries with abundant land and water resources, such as Brazil, Indonesia and Russia.

Abstract

Abstract. Banking industry has specific regulation on their capital requirements according to Basel Accord agreements that bank must keep their amount of capital balanced with the total risk assets in lots of requirement criteria especially Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR). In order to fulfil this requirement, the only way banks could raise fund with capital is Initial Public Offering (IPO) for the unlisted company and Right Issue for listed company. Since PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, is the biggest assets bank in the country, the only way to rise this source funding is right issue if they want to maintain their amount of capital. Right issue is preemptive right for the investor to keep their ownership percentage to prevent it from share dilution as the company raised more shares to the market. However, not everyone is aware of the possibly wealth dilution as the rising amount of shares sold at the lower price where at this research commonly called “value dilution”. The research objective is to determine how variables in right issue are interacting, Bank Mandiri’s value of right issue and the value dilution as well (with comparison with similar industry at the same year), value dilution  factors that determine value dilution of right issue decisions, also the forecast of future right issue on Bank Mandiri’s plan in 2018. Theoretical right price and theoretical ex-right price have been used as the base of formula and calculation in the research developed with simulation of various number of independent variable such as subscription price and exchange ratio to find result in the correlation of these variables to the value dilution. Also, forecast of following Bank Mandiri’s right issue in 2018 used the same formula but through different process where the current price in the future has to be estimated first and the number of issued share has to be determine to forecast the possibly value dilution and choose the best combination of subscription price and exchange ratio. Findings on this research reveal that Bank Mandiri has the highest right value and total wealth value dilution among the other similar industry company that done the similar corporate action at the same year (2011, compared with Bank Bukopin, Bank Danamon, and Bank QNB) while the share exchange ratio (N) is determining factor for the value dilution as the new share calculation in fraction result will affect the existence of value dilution. If the N resulting fraction number of new shares, subscription price will make the bigger value dilution as it going lower than the current market share. However, despite of value dilution increase it makes the right value increasing as well. Recommendation of following right issue in 2018 for Bank Mandiri is they can set the price of the subscription price between Rp8,562 to Rp17,425 per share if assumed they raise the amount of new share same as the right issue before in 2011 where they issued 2.336 billion of shares (so the N would be 9.889). However if company decided not to raise the amount of share same as previous right issue, company can issue 1,538,461,538 shares (with ratio 100 for 1501 shares) with the subscription price in Rp13,000. Keywords: Right issue, Bank Mandiri, BMRI, Theoretical Right Price, Theoretical Ex-Right Price.
