Abstract

Productive age is a risk group that is prone to hypertension and hypertension increases with age. Management of hypertension plays a role in maintaining the stability of the patient's medical condition and slowing the occurrence of complications. However, the implementation of the hypertension disease management program has not been carried out optimally. This research was carried out quantitatively, with a quasi-experimental type of research using one-group pretest-posttest design approach. Activities were carried out in four stages, namely situation analysis, plan formulation, implementation, and monitoring evaluation. Evaluation of systolic and diastolic blood pressure and knowledge of participants was done before and after the program. The intervention results showed that there were significant differences in systolic, diastolic blood pressure, and public knowledge before and after the program (p<0.005). Community based hypertension management programs have proven to be effective in increasing the knowledge and clinical conditions of people with hypertension. Therefore, to increase knowledge, attitudes, and skills to control hypertension and support are needed by health workers, cadres and families.

Abstract

Hypertension is increased blood pressure in the arteries continuously over a period, where the symptoms of hypertension are very diverse in each individual. Hypertension is a systolic and diastolic pressure of more than 160mmHg and 90mmHg, which is also common in the elderly. Objective: This study aims to determine the impact of providing health education related to hypertension and anti-hypertensive exercise on blood pressure in the elderly at Wisma Cempaka UPT PSTW Jember. This research used a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test one-group design. The sampling technique used is a total sampling of 16 respondents. Data collection techniques were simple interviews, questionnaires and measuring blood pressure using a sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed using the T-Test. The implementation includes health education, and blood pressure measurement, hypertension exercise. The results of statistical tests showed that there was an effect on blood pressure results before and after the Hypertension exercise. The respondent's blood pressure in the pre-test obtained average systolic 128.75 mmHg, and average diastolic pre-test 80.94 mmHg. The average post-test systolic value is 119.38 mmHg, and the average post-test diastolic is 77.19 mmHg. The level of knowledge of the elderly at Wisma Cempaka has increased with changes in post-test scores. This result proves the importance of health education and hypertension exercise in controlling blood pressure. There is a difference in systolic blood pressure before and after anti-hypertensive exercise. Anti-hypertensive exercise can be used as an alternative modification to lower blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension and provide health education for knowledge of controlling blood pressure.

Knowledge related to disaster mitigation should be given to the community starting from basic education. According to the above background, we realize that it is very important to develop awareness andpursuit of disaster preparedness in Islamic boarding schools as soon as possible. This community service activity program has been held at the Assalafi Al-Fithrah Islamic Boarding School in Surabaya which was held on May 21-22 2022 This community service activity is carried out offline with the method of presentation, discussion andquestion and answer, and training. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The participants for this community service activity are students from the Assalafi Al-Fithrah Islamic boarding school, Surabaya. Results: The results of the pretest and posttest questionnaires showedthat there were differences before and after socialization with a P value of <0.05. This shows that good knowledge makes participants apply health protocols well. Dissemination of disaster mitigation socialization has a good impact and shows significant results on the results of the pretest and post-test

Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly is a common problem that is often found. Many factors affect hypertension in the elderly, so it is necessary to empower them elderly. The purpose of this empowerment to control the blood pressure of the elderly through progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) techniques. The method used is counselling and exercise demonstration, which consists of 3 main activities: screening, PMR technique training, and activity evaluation. The empowerment was attended by nine elderly at UPT PSTW Wisma Cempaka Jember. The evaluation of activities is to measure blood pressure with a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer. Wilcoxon statistical test was used to determine changes in blood pressure before and after PMR intervention. The elderly are 100% male, 55.6% are 60-70 years old, 44.4% live in an orphanage for 1-5 years, and 66.7% are from outside Jember and have itching 44.4%. The p-value was 0.02<0.05 in systole, which means there was a difference before and after PMR, and the p-value was 0.705>0.05 in diastole, which means there was no difference in blood pressure after PMR. PMR focuses on maintaining a relaxed state that can secrete CRH (Corticotropin-releasing Hormone) and ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic releasing hormone) so that adrenaline and non-adrenaline secretion decrease, which has an impact on heart contraction activity and decreased blood pressure. Elderly empowerment with progressive muscle relaxation can control blood pressure, specifically systolic, after one week of exercise. This exercise must be included in the PSTW exercise program, which can be done regularly to control blood pressure.
